Chereads / Boruto: The Depraved / Chapter 38 - One step at a time

Chapter 38 - One step at a time

Time is short when we enjoy it… maybe that's why it's been like an eternity for me.

I patiently followed Kagura and the others while observing my surroundings and memorizing every nook and corner.

I noted some alleyways and shortcuts just in case.

"I'm happy we've met once again, Boruto Uzumaki"

"Likewise"

His charming smile once again flashed before he turned his head. Kagura introduced us to older and younger Shinobis that he knew of.

ʼThis guy has a small backup, huhʼ

I marked their existence. We would meet sooner or later... And there onwards will be the start of the fall of the great Mist Village.

I entered a store. There were several masks and other useful equipments present there. I brought a plain white mask with a vertical Blue line running through its right eye.

And a bunch of hair dye of Aurbon brown color. My sword was Jagged to no end... I purchased another one. Although it wasn't as durable as my primary, it's still usable to an extent.

Ah, speaking of swords, I had fixed a handguard on my primary sword. It previously didn't have one... And after realizing the cons of not having one bothered me.

It was an oval-shaped, grey-colored handguard. Even though my blade is jagged, it's still sharper than most available at the moment.

I also bandaged the sword's handle with leather, providing more grip. It felt weird at first, but I had adjusted to it.

I had also brought a voice changer from the store. At first they said I didn't met the minimum age, but I again came after several hours using the transformation Jutsu to mimic an adult.

It was quite a hassle to get. Unexpectedly, I had to fill several forms... And I had no idea what to do. Me being dead at the age of 16 didn't help at all.

I got tired and put him in a genjutsu for a split second and snatched one of the many voice changers from the store. I canceled my request and got out from the store.

Although Genjutsu wasn't one of my strong points, I was still very skillful in using it. My perfect chakra control only made that easier.

After I exited the building, I was met with a scene of Kagura getting surrounded by chicks that drooled over him... Must be such a pain.

...Why did I never have gotten flocked around before? It's not like I'm ugly, Heck! I am bloody handsome and I still don't get that kind of attention.

Well, whatever. Not like dead people matters anyway. Kagura ran over to my side with a wide smile...What has gotten into this kid? We've only met like once in the past.

Does this guy get attached easily or is this something else?

*Clap*

My attention was distracted by a clapping sound. It cane from a short blue-haired man with black goggles. His every step spoke power!

The fifth Mizukage, Chojiro. Even though he specializes in Kenjutsu and water-style Jutsus, he has achieved power that can rival the five kages.

He doesn't have special eyes, he doesn't have unspoken talent. Yet, he was able to achieve kage-level strength through hard work.

Respect is well earned.

He is a Hokage in and out. Ready to protect his allies and citizens, he wouldn't waver against even the strongest of the strongest... A side about him that earned my respect.

I would be a fool to not acknowledge the prowess of my soon-to-be enemies... Such an act of pride would only cause my potential death.

"I am Chojiro of the Mist. The Sixth Mizukage. I humbly welcome the future shinobis of Konoha... Please make your stay"

What a simple guy... On the outside.

With that, Chojuro along with his assistant body flickered away. Maintaining a highly advanced village has its own problems.

Iwabe looked ticked off, he clicked his tongue and went through an alleyway. He hated the Mist from the bottom of his heart. Like it was supposed to be...

"What's up with him now?"

I asked, confusion clearly visible.

"Meh, who knows"

Shikadai, who was beside me shrugged with a lazy expression. After that little talk, an everlasting silence occurred between us.

"You've been awfully silent lately, Boruto...Is something wrong?"

The black spikey-haired boy asked, breaking the silence. His eyes full of worry. I shaked my head in response.

"Don't worry... I'm just a little tired"

He hesitantly nodded. Fortunately, Mitsuki was out shopping and gathering information... At least that's what I think.

That guy is really unpredictable, and his ever-lively smile didn't help the situation.

All of us were instructed to move to a flat. Everyone got to their own room.

.

.

.

.

Walking through the hall, I saw Cho-Cho looking out of the window.

"Argh!"

I held my head while groaning.

"Boruto?! What's wrong?"

She worriedly approached me. I groaned again and she began to panic.

"Cho-Cho... Can you buy some medicine for headache... I think my head is gonna explode...Argh! Please! Quick!"

"D-Don't worry! I'll be right back!"

She ran off at full speed without even glancing back, if she did, She would be seeing a perfectly healthy me slightly grinning.

Now that's that done, let's go and plant some ticking bombs inside the weaklings... Denki will be the final cherry on top.
