Chereads / The Proselyte's POV / Chapter 26 - Secret of the MIND

Chapter 26 - Secret of the MIND

"Aight, there is nothing that was lost. A little bit unnerving that there wasn't a single scavenger seeing this tasty treat of a broken apartment without thinking what kind of items it had inside."

The dead Cleaning Mist Revenant was still in my closet. Same with the firearm that I didn't bring to the battle.

"I'm really hoping that someone would steal this gun. Is it too much to ask?"

My hand was on the grip. With only one eye, I examined the firearm, trying to contemplate my basic decision.

Yes, I need to reform everything from the roots.

The insecurities that I had, and the lie that I gave to myself, so that I won't be using the gun that I acquired from the bar fight.

"The me from four years ago would utilize every single grain of salt within my possession. Haah." I couldn't help but put my palm on my face. "'The firearm won't help much', who am I kidding?"

I was filled with hubris and false confidence. There was not a single reason for me to not bring it in that chaotic battlefield.

While there was a heavy tax behind the possession of a ballistic weapon and its ammunition, there was a loophole that one could utilize to bypass the requirements.

"... Now that I have my hand on a MIND once again, there would be no such thing as an unused asset."

The most hidden secret piece of information that was hiding in the plain sight of millions of people, especially to those who had latched their fingers upon a MIND since the history of its first creation.

Sometimes, when a MIND had acquired a sapient level of intellect, they became capable of appraising and converting concepts.

Many people thought that they were a servant that did a baby step of progress for the command of their owner. While in reality, most of them were a lot smarter than what people think of them, especially the fully matured one like Adust.

The misconception of 'Non-metaphysical' within the abbreviation of MIND gave off a lot of impression that a MIND was simply something that had a physical material. This had a lot to do with the stressed word of the 'Non' of corporeal, while in reality, they were meant to be something completely different.

Or that was what I believed at first.

But no.

Something, or someone, somewhere, somehow, had purposely changed the meaning of the N letter from the abbreviation from the historical record and the memory of the people.

The original word from the letter N.

It was 'Neurons'.

The specialized cell for transmitting nerve impulses. The fundamental units of the brain.

The organ of a living being that gave the premature soul of consciousness. That worked better for something that was coined as the physical form of consciousness, right?

Within the City.

I'm the only one that still remembers the true nature of the MIND.

I'm the only one.

It was the result of dealing with the 'Devil'.

"Mmmh, this will do."

I removed the magazine and took out all of the remaining ammo and placed them on the table.

I took out Adust from her broken sheath and channeled my mind onto it.

According to my command, the dichromatic yellow blue semi-liquid that it excreted began to pour and wrapped all of the ammo that I laid. Together with my instructions, I teached Adust to appraise the concept of ballistic ammunition and its composition.

The bullets began to slowly burn and dissolve into the liquid that Adust secreted. After that, she began to inject my brain with the composition information of the ammo as a natural feedback of this process.

"So a combination of Circuitry Magitech that would produce a destructive concentration of sulfuric acid, that will immediately infuse with a small compressed space of container that holds a dense hydrogen peroxide crystal.

"And then, an extra layers of formation that's forcing some kind of stupidly reactive piranha-solution than normal piranha-solution to combust inside the target's body.

"Didn't know that it was that simple of a tech, knowing that this type of ammo is one of the most used by the majority of the firearms users."

There were countless tech schemas that were patented and lost within this world. 'Circuitry Magitech' was one of those 'fallen angels' and they were once an unfathomable technology called the 'Tesseract of the World'. Until one day, the company that had the right to the patent collapsed.

It happened a long time ago but the War of the Heads happened at the same time of this company's downfall.

For unknown reasons, no other organizations, Heads, Associations, Syndicates, or even Offices tried to claim the patent's right for the Tesseract, resulting in the loss of the tech's status as a Tesseract.

Because it was no longer a Tesseract, everyone was allowed to use it now without someone from the Ouranos busting their front door and suing them for copyright infringement.

Aside from taxing ballistic weapons, the Ouranos was the one that directly managed the ownership of the patents.

Since then, legal use and product manufacturing from all kinds of parties raged for decades, until the tech became mainstream and now normal Workshops and new Companies utilized it as if it was electricity.

And just like that, a former Tesseract that was once deemed as the most enigmatic treasure in the world became an everyday thing that could be traced in other everyday objects, like the cheap microwave that I use daily, ahahah.

This goes for many technologies that had their place in the Workshops within the Lowstreet and underground. All of them were once a patented Tesseract until they weren't anymore.

The circuitry magitech utilized the weird concept of particle fusion, usually using some kind of catalyst to activate a formation of overlapping veins with many gates to create a reaction.

Typical science stuff.

For an organization like the Heads, Associations, and Syndicates—acquiring as many patents and technology is a must to compete with the ever growing City.

"Huh, you learn it real fast! If only I can reward you somehow. How about a stew?"

Adust then sent a signal to my consciousness about her disagreement of that idea.

Then just like that, Adust Rain had acquired a new ability!
