Chapter 2 - The Letter

"oh thank you, here you go" Samuel replied in his British accent.

I gave him the fare and glanced at my residence.

It was an authentic British house, it was painted yellow, had four steel-framed rectangular windows with white frames and was covered with white lace curtains showing a glimpse of this beautiful house, many beautiful flower pots were lined along the entrance seemed like I have to take care of those might well with myself and an old light was dimly lit in this night showing a bit of hope. The House number was written on a green antique, rusty iron plate. I sighed and went inside the house.

Inside the house was a welcoming wooden staircase, the whole house was lined with beautiful, maroon, handmade carpets, the walls were all white and from some places, the paint was worn off, there were some pictures of Rome, Florence, Venice and other exquisite Italian cities. It refreshed some old memories of my sweet homeland Italy.

I sighed and hooked my leather overcoat and hat on a brown wooden coat hanger. I roamed around this house. It had a small bottle green kitchen, and a homely lounge and upstairs were two cosy and warm bedrooms.

I went upstairs freshened up myself and washed away all the tiredness with the flow of streaming calm water, all the tiredness flowed with it gently. I came downstairs and went inside the kitchen, it had the blue and white chequered floor, wooden cabinets painted bottle green with an oak countertop, a cute ceramic kettle on the stove, a small rattan-laced bread box, some other utensils hanging over the steel sink too. Surprisingly, the lady who gave me this house on the rent was too kind to put staples in the kitchen or else I thought I would've to sleep with an empty stomach. I made myself some cosy warm coffee it filled the entire house with its roasted smell, and now it felt a bit home-like. Then I sat at the dining table, sipped some coffee and start writing a letter on my typewriter to my very special friend Rosanne.

"Dear Rosanne,

I am writing this to inform you that I have reached safely London. It was a tiring journey although now my tiredness is all gone after talking to you. Here everything is quite different or maybe staying away from civilization for some years has made me feel this way. Today after a long time when I heard the sound of children playing and the busy sounds of the market brought me back to life.

I want to thank you for recommending me that book it helped me clear perspectives about relationships and the greediness of power although it was quite brutal yet I found it a good one to read at least it was less brutal than life. I asked a kind old man about the Queen on the train because he seemed furious when he read some news about her. He told me a lot about the wicked Queen, seems like people which are just fictional characters exist in the real world too. People also hate their Queen here as much as in that book, I felt for some time that I'm talking to that book's character who is frustrated by their Queen's unjust rule. The house I'm living in is a bit old but somehow it feels comforting. My previous life was r horrible nightmare that even an old house or just a child's laughter makes me happy. I wish no one ever live a life like mine. Thank you Rosanne for supporting me through my hard times and waiting for me I can never repay you that. London is different from Italy on my way back I saw many beautiful things in the market I would visit soon and will buy something for you. I will keep talking to you and telling you different things about here take care, my dear Rose.

your fiancée,

Samuel."

I took the sheet out and put it in a brown coloured envelope, I sealed it with the wax carefully for my dear fiancé so that nobody could read it except that beautiful girl. I took it in my hand with me upstairs in my homely bedroom, I put it on the oak wood bedside table. I could see the bright and dazzling full moon from my window while the picture of my as beautiful Rosanne appeared brightly on it, she might be waiting desperately for my letter. Sometimes I think about what good deed I must have done to get a kind-hearted friend like Rosanne. Such a humble, sweet and cute person she is. She is a mesmerising beauty but her heart is even more beautiful. I'm truly blessed to love a person like her. As I was thinking about Rosanne, I didn't realize when I drifted into a deep and peaceful sleep.
