After there was a Lycan at the door, I thought I was going to die. There was another Lycan that was jet black with red eyes that seemed to be protecting me. He didn't attack until I started screaming from the pain I was feeling. I ran to Ginsing's side after Jonathan had ordered me to. I was terrified. I didn't know why this Lycan wanted to hurt me. I had no desire to go back home. All I cared about was that I now had my family with me.
After what seemed like an hour, the black Lycan killed my attacker. The winning Lycan shifted and a werewolf came out of the trees with a robe. He also took a picture of the dead Lycan. "Send it to the Beta of Blue Moon pack. Tell them their new Alpha is Alpha Maximus. Tell them I will be coming to collect them and bring them back to this pack." Alpha Maximus said as he put his robe on. He then turned toward me and approached. Jonathan growled. "I would never hurt Elderberry Eater," Maximus said, causing Jonathan to look at me strangely as he let out another growl.
"It is alright, Lance. You don't have to take over. Maximus won't hurt me," I said. I knew he was fighting to take over Jonathan but there was no need.
"Are you alright, Sophia?" Maximus asked.
"I am alright. Thanks for saving me. Why do you keep helping me?" I asked. It has been bugging me since he first offered us these cottages.
"I had a twin sister. She looked a lot like you. After we matured and left our mother and father, we stuck together for three years. Eventually, she found her mate." Maximus said as he looked down at the ground. "He killed her. She wanted him to let me join his pack as his beta. He refused and then he killed her. When I first saw you, when I was still too far away to catch your scent, I thought you were her. Then we officially met and you were sweet just like her. I would hate it if something happened to you because I feel like you could be my sister even if you aren't." He said, sounding embarrassed about what he was saying.
"Hey, my mate could use a sibling that doesn't treat her like garbage," Jonathan said, seeming like he had calmed down.
"I would like that. I want this pack to be the first ally pack I get as Alpha." Maximus said as he looked at Jonathan with hope in his eyes. Jonathan smiled and looked at me.
"Sophia is the Alpha. Well, Luna, but she was one of the founding members of this pack and I don't even know what this little pack is called." Jonathan said, still looking at me.
"It is the Castaway pack," I said, smiling. "I would like to have you as my first ally pack."
We celebrated the new alliance with Alpha Maximus as some of his warriors brought a group of werewolves to use. It consisted of Matteo, and three others; Xander, Layla, and Linda. Oh, great Moon Goddess. It is Linda. I still didn't trust her. Well, at least maybe I could talk Jonathan into letting me act as alpha with this pack and not just Luna who has to hide behind her mate. I said to my wolf, Bella.
Mate will let us. It is going to be a big shock to Linda when she realizes you went from a Luna to Rogue to now the Alpha. Bella answered with a hint of humor.
"You know Lance can hear Bella. And she is right. I want to let you be the Alpha, but I am not being called Luna. When she calls me Alpha, you answer. That would make it even more fun." Jonathan whispered in my ear before kissing my cheek. The electricity feeling that spread through my entire body made me giggle.
"Hello Alpha. Oh, Luna, I am glad we found you." Linda said with a false smile.
"It is Alpha Sophia to you," I said with a big smile. Linda's mouth opened like she was going to say something. I gave her a look like I wasn't going to put up with her disrespect.
"Why would I refer to you as Alpha when you are the Luna?" Linda said after opening and closing her mouth multiple times.
"Well, I am only the Luna in the sense that I am a she-wolf. But since I found this new pack with my beta Lia, I am the pack's Alpha. Jonathan will only act as Alpha when it comes to the other packs and meetings." I said, trying out my ability to sound like the Alpha. It seemed to work because Linda instantly dropped the subject. "Linda, you may join the Castaway Pack but you will be the lowest ranking wolf. Until you have earned being looked at again I will call you Omega. You need to learn your place." I said, causing her to open her mouth in an attempt to argue with me.
"But I haven't really done anything wrong. You can't hold what Rosa and Sandra did against me." Linda said, sounding truly hurt.
"Well, I do. If you had only bullied me when they were around I might be willing to forgive you without question, but you bullied me even when they weren't around. So I know it wasn't just Rosa and Sandra. So, if you don't want to be a rogue, you will accept your rank until I feel like I can truly trust you." I said strongly. Maximus was nodding his head. It made it where I felt like I was doing the right thing. I looked toward Jonathan, who was simply smiling.
"Ah, my sister is growing up," Maximus said as he put his arm around my shoulder. Linda looked at the Lycan with great fear in her eyes. As I stood arguing with Linda, more of our pack mates showed up. They caught the conversation enough to know I was the Alpha of this pack.
"No she is not growing up, she is just being a selfish pregnant bitch." Linda said and that was it. I have had enough of her attitude.
"Linda, you are hereby exiled from the Castaway pack. Leave and don't ever come back." I said as she looked toward Jonathan, who said nothing. He just stood behind me with a smirk. Perhaps my hormones were off the scale, but I didn't care. She started to walk off toward Maximus's territory.
"Watch this Elderberry," he said. As soon as Linda crossed the border, a large wolf charged at her. She shifted and took off running as the large wolf ran in pursuit. I did find some satisfaction. Linda had spent the entire six months from when Jonathan turned 18 and myself turning 18 treating me terribly along with her two best friends, Sandra and Rosa.
I wanted this pack to know I wasn't to be messed with. After Linda was out of sight, Maximus walked onto his territory and left. "Did I make the right decision?" I asked, as I was beginning to question myself.
"You are the Alpha. She disrespected you. I would have done the same thing," Brent said, and Jonathan nodded. I smiled. "I am starving. Ginsing can you go to the store and get some groceries?" I asked. Ginsing instantly got up and started walking toward the store that Maximus said we could use. "Matteo and Jimmi go with him. Make sure you get enough for everyone. We will share meals from now on. The entire pack will eat together. Everyone that knew I wanted you to choose a cottage along this line." I ordered and everyone got to work on my orders.
I was very proud of myself. I had given the pack their first orders. Maybe being Alpha was not such a terrible thing after all. Now, as long as I don't receive any challenges, I may not have a bad time. Currently, we have twenty members in this small pack. I was hoping more from our old pack would join us. I didn't know how many stayed behind when the Lycan challenged and won over Jonathan, but I would accept anyone who wanted to join this new pack.
I knew so little about the Blue Moon Pack other than they had been in Springfield, Oregon for over twenty generations and now the wolves that left it when Jonathan lost the challenge were expected to either live as rogues or move to a new area. It was probably scary for them. I knew it was for me.
Jonathan and I returned to our new little home and went to bed. I was tired. Being pregnant wasn't fun. I was either tired all the time or hungry or worse, both. I was fast asleep in Jonathan's arms. When we heard a knock at the door, it was midnight. Jonathan jumped up. "Alpha, please stay here while I go and check," Jonathan said with a smirk. I allowed him to go without me but I planned to stay at the top of the stairs in case he needed help.
As Jonathan got to the door I smelled a familiar scent. It was Alpha Larry and Jackson. "Ah, Jonathan, you seem comfortable. May we come in. We were told a new pack had formed where a she-wolf was alpha. She exiled another she-wolf. Since you are here, I assume it is your good for nothing, mate," Jackson said as the door opened. This pissed me off.
I walked downstairs with my arms crossed. "Alpha Larry can come in but that filth with him can not. I have already informed my beta to come and keep him in his place." I said, not looking at Jackson. I still meant it when I said I never wanted to see him again and his insisting on his son killing me in my time of need didn't make me want to change my mind.
"Girl, you better show me some respect," Jackson said.
"I would watch my tone if I were you." Jonathan growled as he looked over Jackson's shoulder. I looked to see what he was looking at and saw Maximus. Does this man ever sleep?
"I will not be disrespected by some good-for-nothing she-wolf that thinks she can play Alpha and get away with it," he said as he growled. I saw Alpha Maximus walking toward us.
"Evening Alpha Jonathan. Do you know these people?" Alpha Maximus said.
"I do. Did they pass through your territory?" Jonathan asked.
"They did. Without permission." Maximus said as he came in and stood by me. "Would you like me to deal with them?" He said quietly, but I knew that Jackson heard as his expression changed to pure anger.
"Yes. Alpha Larry can come in but his father must stay out. Would you mind sitting with my beta as she watches him?" I asked.
"Of course," Maximus said as he walked up toward Jackson and pushed him out toward where Lia was standing with Jimmi next to her. Jackson tried to resist, causing Maximus to lift the older werewolf up over his shoulders. "Obviously, you have never dealt with a Lycan. We are much stronger than any werewolf and you are old and weak," Maximus said with humor as he stood next to Lia and Jimmi.
"I don't have an office as of right now. I am waiting for my pups to be born. And for the pack, I am Alpha, but since you and many other Alpha's don't want to deal with a she-wolf Alpha, I will allow Jonathan to do the Alpha thing with you." I said.
"That's actually not necessary. Cassie is outside. Look, our father is dying. He lost my mother and he was devastated, but your mother is his second chance mate. That meant that when he was rejected by her, she caused him to become extremely ill. Our pack doctor said the only way to save him is if your mother takes back her rejection. Please forgive him for not being a good father and let your mother accept him." Alpha Larry said. I walked past him and saw my mom standing next to her cottage with her arms over her stomach like she was in pain.
"Mom?" I said when I got close enough.
"I may have rejected him, but I still love him and look at him, he looks so sick." Mom said.
"I am sorry I can't look at him, but if you rejected him for me, then I don't expect you to do that. If you want to be with him, then go back to the Black Moon pack and be with him." I said calmly. I didn't want my mom to go, but I also didn't like seeing her hurt.
"I can't do that." She said as she looked down at my belly. "If I could talk him into respecting you, couldn't we stay here? I don't want to miss my grandchildren's lives. I want to see them become Alphas or Lunas." Mom said with a smile.
"Mom, Larry just told me that your rejection is killing him," I said, causing my mom's face to contort itself.
"I can't. I am sorry. I am a mother and he disrespected my child." Mom said. So I thought about taking a different approach.
"What about Cassie? I am sure she would love to be able to get to know you." I said, trying to get her to take back her rejection.
"No! Cassie is the pup of the she-wolf Joseph cheated on me with. He expected me to accept her as my own. I could not. She was a constant reminder that Joseph wasn't my mate and that Joseph betrayed me. No. I want nothing to do with her." My mom said, sounding angry.
"But, mom, she doesn't know that. Look how Joseph treated me because I wasn't his. It is not Cassie's fault, just like it isn't mine." I said, causing Jackson and Larry to look at me with strange expressions on their faces. For the first time in a long time, I looked at Jackson. He had a smile. I had never seen him smile. He was looking at me. Why? I wanted to confront him.
"I am sorry Sophia. You are right, but still, if I take back my rejection, that means I have to leave you and I will never get to know my grandchildren." Mom said.
"That isn't true. You can always come for a visit. Come stay with me around when the pups are born and you will get to be here when they do, but mom, this isn't right." I said as I held my hand out to Jackson. Now Jackson was safely back on the ground walking toward me. Great Moon Goddess. What does he have to yell at me for now? I thought as I looked toward Jonathan, hoping he was watching.
"I think you might just make a great Alpha for a she-wolf. You are right. I have been blaming you for being born even though you didn't choose it. I am sorry I can't be the father you deserve, but I can try if you forgive me." Jackson said with a hopeful smile.
"What?" I said even though I heard what he had said.
"Please forgive me," Jackson said as he reached forward to hold my hand. "And if you do forgive me, please allow your mother and myself to stay in her cottage until your pups are born. I promise I will try to get to know you." Jackson said. I didn't know if I could believe him, but I didn't want my mother to feel the guilt of causing her mate to die.
"All right but I will be watching you the whole time. You must respect me as Alpha. This pack has two. I myself when it comes to the wolves in this pack and Jonathan when it comes to other Alphas. I want to start a new kind of pack. One where the female wolves are equal to their mates," I said.
"And I will help you and I am sure dad will respect you. Especially if he ever wants to come back home again," Larry said as he walked up.
"Yes, I agree," Jackson said with a smile before he turned toward where my mom was standing.
"Mom what do you say?" I said as she slowly started to walk up. When she was close enough, she grabbed Jackson's hand and led the way back to her cottage.
"Thank you, little sis. And please don't tell my mate about your mom not being her mom. That would just devastate her. She found out just before we came here that she was pregnant again." Larry said. I simply nodded.
"I am tired. I think I will go to sleep." I said as I walked past Jonathan and grabbed his hand, making him come along with me.
"I am very proud of you," Jonathan said as he hugged me before we climbed the stairs.
The next morning I was up early. I was eager to get the day moving. I wanted to assign today's cooks. I was going to have Jimmi lead the pack to build a new building that had a large kitchen and a big dining room for the pack. I wanted it to be big enough because I was hoping this pack would only grow and we would need more space. I was also going to pass a pack law that Omegas were to not be treated badly.
I wanted this pack to be the pack of tolerance. Even though I wanted to show tolerance, I also didn't want the warriors to get away with everything, so there would be rules they would have to follow. The first thing I did was send out a mind link to everyone to meet outside of my cottage. When I left, I saw that the entire pack was waiting for me.
