Sophia's POV
As my alarm went off, I quickly got up to take a shower. I had planned on doing my hair and makeup. Once that was finished, a sweet scent of lilies and roses hit my nose. My wolf screamed the one word I knew she would say, 'Mate.'
I rushed downstairs to find out who he was. As I rounded the corner that led into the kitchen, I saw my friend sitting on the chair. I didn't see anyone at first. Oh no. My mate is Ashleigh? I thought as I walked in and saw her brother at the fridge. No, she wasn't my mate. He was.
He turned and his eyes met mine, causing him to smile. "Mine!" He said with a deep growl, before turning to his sister. "Ashleigh, why don't you go back to the car and have dad take you to school. Sophia won't be joining you at school today." Jonathan said over his shoulders, causing Ashleigh to get up with a strange look on her face. Once she was out of sight, my heart started pounding.
"Please wait until tomorrow to reject me. I don't want to spend my birthday in pain." I begged.
"Sophia, why would I reject you? Sophia, I could never do that. If I did, my father would refuse to give me the alpha ship. Even if that wasn't true I still wouldn't reject you." Jonathan said as he approached me. "I, Jonathan Zimmerman, future Alpha of Blue Mountain Pack, accept you Sophia Greggor as my mate and future Luna," Jonathan said before he bent down and pressed his lips into mine. The sparks that rippled through my body nearly caused me to fall to my knees but luckily I had Jonathan holding me up.
"I have to get to school," I said. My dad hated it when I skipped school. Jonathan turned 18 six months ago. Ever since then, he has insisted on walking me to school. Even when his younger sister Ashleigh doesn't walk with us. I couldn't understand why. He could have walked with any of the other girls. Why me? He is the future Alpha and could have any girl he wanted. Every day at lunch, even though he sits next to the prettiest girl, he stares at me. It had started to give me the creeps. Now I know why.
"Not today. Your dad is currently explaining to the principal that you will not be coming back to school. Today I will give you until after school to get your stuff packed before the future beta will bring it and you to the pack house." Jonathan said, causing my heart to pound.
"Not going back to school? Jonathan, I wanted to be a doctor or a nurse." I said. I didn't mind having a day off from school, but I still had dreams.
"Fine. I will speak with my dad. Maybe he will allow the rules to be bent so you can chase your dreams. Being Luna, you will not have very many responsibilities." Jonathan said as he leaned forward again and pressed his lips into mine. Instinctively, I wrapped my arms around him and leaned into his lips. Suddenly a thought came to mind. I had never been intimate with a guy. I always wanted to save myself for my mate and now that I found him I was very nervous. "Get started. I have to walk to school. I will see you at the pack house." He said with a smile making him even more handsome.
He left me alone in my childhood house. I got to work packing my stuff. I didn't want to take everything. I packed all my clothes and some family pictures before I heard movement downstairs. After looking at the clock I saw it was 2:30, only an hour until the future beta showed up. I had to rush.
After an hour, I heard the future beta talking to my dad. After that, I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. I packed four boxes and had them stacked next to the door. I hadn't even got my toiletries. "Hello, future Luna. Are these the boxes you're taking?" Jimmi, the future beta, asked pointing at the boxes.
"Yeah, can you take those down to your car? I have a few more things to fit in a bag." I replied.
"Yes, of course." He said as he gently picked the first box up. I rushed to the bathroom and grabbed my makeup, toothpaste, and toothbrush. With that, I was all packed up. Would he want to mate as soon as I got there or would he at least wait until nighttime?
I knew it would be too embarrassing to have everyone in the pack house knowing what was happening. I won't be able to look at them ever again. "Sophia, don't worry. The day Jonathan turned 18, Alpha and Luna let him have a spare apartment," Jimmi said. Jimmi was always sweet to me. He was the only sweet boy.
After grabbing my bag and watching Jimmi grab the last box, I followed him out. My dad was sitting in front of the TV. He didn't even look up at me. He was probably happy to be rid of me. My mother died saving me from a bunch of rogues when I was two and my dad never got over it. He also blamed me for it and pretty much left me alone most days.
It only took about ten minutes to get to the pack house. "But why would he accept me when he could have Rosa?" I said wondering more than I expected an answer.
"I don't know why he would want her. She is a slut. Sophia, he has had feelings for you since you and his sister became friends. He stayed back so he wouldn't hurt his sister. He has known you were his mate since he turned 18. He isn't into that whole beauty thing. And Sophia, with the risk of pissing my mate off and getting killed by yours, you are just as pretty as Rosa. The difference is you don't realize it and she knows she is. You are sweet while she thinks she is entitled," Jimmi said.
Jonathan approached Jimmi and said, "I won't kill you as long as you just talk." We walked into the pack house. "Sophia, this may be the pack house, but only the Alpha's family and the Beta's family live here," Jonathan said as he led the way into his apartment.
It was bright and spacious. Along the back wall, there were white French doors with large windows on each side. On one side of the room was a small door. I had a feeling it led to a bathroom. After Jimmi set down the box, he was going to get another. Jonathan grabbed my hand and led me through the door. I was wrong. It was a room with a queen-sized bed. Seeing the bed made my heart pound again. Jonathan gently led me into the room.
He laid me on the bed and slowly moved his mouth to the spot near my collar bone before he bit down, marking me as his. I reached for his peck and left my own mark there.
"Sorry I don't know what came over me," I said, not looking into his eyes. I was afraid I was now in trouble. Perhaps I wasn't supposed to mark him, but I wanted all the she-wolves to know he was mine.
"It is fine although I would have preferred it if you had chosen a less sensitive spot," Jonathan said with a slight chuckle as he looked down at the mark I left behind.
"Did you talk to the Alpha? I still want to go to school." I said as I fought to not fall asleep.
"I did. He said once I have marked you, then I will become alpha, and if I want to allow my luna to go to school and become a doctor, that would be up to me. That is why I didn't wait until nighttime." Jonathan said with a smirk.
"Will he be mad that I marked you? Alpha doesn't have a mark," I asked.
"He does. Usually, you will mark me after we mate the second time, but I am alright with not going with tradition." Jonathan said as he rubbed my back. "Go to sleep Mate. I need to go speak with my father."
Jonathan's POV
I got out of bed and put on my pants as Sophia was fast asleep. I didn't feel like putting on my boxers or shirt again. Instead, I went into the bathroom to wash the blood off of the mark my mate left. The wound had completely healed, leaving only a scar. Once a werewolf takes his first shift, he usually doesn't get scars, but a mate's mark leaves a scar that gives off its scent. There will be no doubt that she left the mark, just as everyone will know I left the mark on her collar bone.
I walked to my father's office. I could smell the beta. Out of respect, I knocked on the door. "Come in, Jonathan," My father said. He seemed to always know it was me. I turned the knob and walked in. As soon as my father looked at me he laughed. "Your pecks. I bet that hurt."
"Only a little. I just wanted to let you know she is completely mine." I said as I looked at my dad's beta who was trying very hard not to laugh.
"Alright, I will set up the ceremony. So, she can go back to school, but I will be assigning a guard to her the entire time. I can't have you lose your mate when we are this close to you becoming Alpha." Dad said.
"Alright, but who? I don't want anyone near her without me there," I said.
"I was thinking about Ginsing. He has a mate, so it won't be like he would try to take her. Plus, being from China, he was taught to fight with great talent. She will be safe with him." Dad said. I didn't trust Ginsing.
I left my dad's office to lay down with Sophia. I wanted to hold her. I have wanted to have her for so long. Now to have her as mine was the most wonderful outcome possible. "Hey, big brother. Oh, she accepted you?" Ashleigh said as she approached me and her eyes landed on my mark.
"Yes she did," I said as I felt my lips curling into a smile.
"Is she coming back to school?" Ashleigh asked with a worried look on her face. Sophia was Ashleigh's only friend. Ashleigh was the alpha's youngest child and his daughter. Not many girls wanted to be like her. They wanted to be the luna.
"Yeah, she is going tomorrow. Don't worry. I don't want to be the kind of alpha that refuses to at least try and give his mate everything she wants. Plus, she is your only friend. I would hate for school to be unbearable for you." I said with a smile. I loved my sister nearly more than anything and I would do anything to protect her.
"While I am happy to hear you say that, I am not worried about that. Rosa had caught word that Sophia had found her mate. And she was coming here to see you and she saw Jimmi bringing her here and you putting your hand on her back. She isn't happy," Ashleigh said.
"Don't worry about it, little sister. Dad said she can go to school only if Ginsing guards her. Besides, Rosa is just a total bitch. She will never be Luna. At least not in this pack. Not while I am future alpha or the alpha. She isn't my mate. I want my mate and that is it." I said, easing some of the worries on my sister's face. "Now I would like to go and lie with my mate," I said as I kissed my sister on the head.
I walked to my apartment to find my mate sleeping peacefully on the bed. I wasn't ready to go to sleep so I decided to take a shower. A warm shower always relaxed me. I walked into the closet to find a towel and some sweat pants to sleep in before turning and heading to the shower. This shower also had a steamer. I turned it on and the bathroom was filled with a thick cloud of steam. I took a ten-minute shower. I went to the sink to shave and brush my teeth. "How am I so lucky that the girl of my dreams is my mate?" I say as I sit and watch my gorgeous mate sleep. I can't wait for tomorrow and I can finally tell everyone that this beauty is my mate. "Mine," I said as I stifle a growl. I leaned forward to leave a kiss on her temple causing her to smile in her sleep.
I leave our bedroom to look at some books my dad gave me about this pack and the people. These books consist of family trees, jobs each pack member has, and if they are from another pack it tells which pack they came from. Deciding to find Sophia I go straight to the "G" section. I find her father quickly. Apparently, her father was a rogue that was the mate of Sophia's mother Lindsey.
I heard movement by the front door. Sniffing the air I smell Rosa. Oh, great Moon Goddess she never gives up. She knocks on the door. I don't move in the hopes that she will think I am asleep and leave. As I look out the window and see that it is still daylight out I know she isn't going to give up so easily but still I do not more. She knocks louder. This time I get up and open the door. She instantly wrapped her arms around me and began trying to kiss me. "Get off of me," I said as I tried to shove her off of me.
"What do you smell like that slut?' Rosa said sounding disgusted.
"You should show your future Luna some respect," I said causing her to drop down to her feet and stare at me as if I had just hurt her. "You will find your mate one day. Just wait for him and give up on me because I already found mine and I intend to keep her." I said as I gently pushed her out of the door. I hope Sophia doesn't take the scent of Rosa on me the wrong way. Before returning to the books I was reading I wash my face in the kitchen sink. I was truly concerned about Sophia thinking I could cheat on her. I know I simply could not do that. I have been in love with her since I was five years old and Ashleigh had her first play date with her.
I wasn't about to let some pack slut who thought she was entitled to get in between Sophia and me. Rosa was from two werewolves that were rogue. My father took pity on them because they had a daughter. Their son died during a rogue attack on their birth pack. A fact that cost Rosa and her family their position in their pack. I decided to take another shower. This time I scrub my entire body before stepping out. Now Sophia is waking up.
"I am hungry." She complains.
"Let's go see if the pack is in the kitchen," I say as I lean forward and kiss her on the cheek.
"No. Don't we have anything to eat here? I know Rosa was here. She is probably down there too and I don't want to deal with her." She says as she sits up. My heart pounds as she speaks these words.
"She was but I quickly sent her away." I decided to tell the truth because I thought the consequences would be less severe. As we made our way to our little kitchen Sophia lifted open one of the books. "As Luna one of your made responsibilities will be to keep the books updated," I said when I noticed her looking at something.
"My father was a rogue?" She asked causing me to look over her shoulder.
"Yes. Your mother was the daughter of my grandfather's beta. When she died your grandfather lost his mind." I replied.
"Is he still alive though? I never met him." She asked.
"Yes. Sophia I have to tell you something." I say and wait for her to look up at me. "Rosa wasn't just here. I tried to ignore her knocking but she wouldn't go away and when I answered the door she hugged me and kissed me. I pushed her away but I wasn't quick enough." I say as I look her straight in the eyes.
"What? Why does she think she has any right to do that?" She asks after taking many deep breaths.
"She thinks she is entitled to the position of Luna. Sometimes I wish my father never took pity on her and her family." I say. I truly meant it. I just wish when I become Alpha I can exile her from the territory. But I only could if she does something deserving of being exiled. I just had to wait. The way she acted at the door made me feel as though she would eventually give me a reason to get rid of her. I felt bad for her parents because they had already lost their son.
We sat in silence while we ate. After we finished I came up with an idea. "Sophia want to go for a walk?" I asked her when I thought of my favorite spot. No one knew about this spot but me and now I wanted her to know about it.
