My so-called father hasn't stopped staring at me the entire evening. I couldn't think of any more things to do to keep my mind off of his constant staring. Jonathan is talking to one of the Alphas and his beta. I didn't know if I was allowed to but I walked up to them. "Ah. Who is this beauty?" The alpha said as Jonathan put his arm around me.
"She is mine," Jonathan growled as he pulled me even closer.
"I know. I can still admire a she-wolf's beauty." The alpha said as he threw his hands up.
"Fine. Alpha Leonardo, this is my mate, and Luna of this pack, Sophia. Sophia, this is Alpha Leonardo. He is the alpha of the biggest pack in North America. This is his beta, Blake." Jonathan said as the two men nodded at me as Jonathan introduced them. After a short while, I walked away and I noticed another woman standing alone.
I approached her and said, "Hi, I am Sophia."
"I am Ella," she replied. We talked for hours. She was sweet. She told me how she had six children. Her mate's mother and father were looking after them during the meeting. She told me that her mate's name was Alpha Sinclair. They were from Washington. Seatle to be exact. "Why is that man staring at you? I have noticed it all evening." Ella said as she followed my eyes.
"He is my biological father. He wants nothing to do with me, yet he won't stop staring. I don't think he likes that I am in the same building as him or even the same territory. I can't wait for him to leave with his son. Oh, and his son is mated to my sister." I said, showing my disgust.
"I think it is ridiculous that he is staring at you," Ella said as she began to walk toward the man. I noticed her mate, Sinclair, was watching her moves. Sinclair was a large, well-built alpha. I decided to follow her. Just in case. This was my home after all. "What is your problem? Don't you know it is wrong to stare at another wolf's mate?" Ella said through gritted teeth.
"Stay out of this. This isn't any of your concern." The man, whom I now knew was called Jackson, said.
"You're right, but Luna Sophia is my friend and when my friends are in distress I make it my business to be concerned. You are a creep that won't stop staring at her. Now I know you are her biological father, but that doesn't permit you to stare at her all night. If it is because she is in the same building as you, that is just too bad this is her home after all. It is also too bad if she is in the same territory as you. This is her pack's territory." Ella said as I saw Alpha Larry and Luna Cassie walking toward us.
"Dad, what is going on?" Alpha Larry said as he got close enough to be heard.
"This here Luna thinks it is up to her if I look at anyone," Jackson said.
"You listen to me once and for all. You may be my biological father, but I want nothing to do with you. I have spent my entire life thinking my mother was dead and my father hated me for it. Then I find out he isn't even my father. My real father didn't even want me. You gave me no chances and now I wish you had never come here. Leave me alone. Don't ever say another word to me and I will do the same." I said as I went face to face with Jackson. Jackson shoved me so hard that I fell into Ginsing, who quickly caught me before I could hit the ground.
"Lincoln takes Jackson to the pack prison. Put him in cell nineteen. We will let them deal with each other," Jonathan said as he looked at Jackson with a murderous stare.
"Jonathan, what are you going to do with him?" Cassie asked in a sweet voice. I could see the anger building on her face as it did on Alpha Larry's face. I didn't care.
"It is Alpha Jonathan or just Alpha to you. I will speak with my Beta. I will speak in private with my Luna and Luna Ella to see what all happened and then I will decide." Jonathan said as he gently grabbed my hand. "Alpha Sinclair, you are welcome to join us. Jimmi, come on." Jonathan said as he led us toward his office.
I kept my head down. I just knew I was in trouble. "Alpha with all due respect. I know this is your territory but that man was looking at Sophia like he was going to kill her." Ella spoke first as we all sat down.
"Luna Ella, I am not mad at you. I have seen all that happened between you and Jackson. Yes, you did speak out of turn but what you said was correct. Unfortunately, my mate has to be in attendance during the gatherings, but I still don't like how he has been staring at her. Even before the meeting started he wouldn't stop staring. I have already made my decision. He will remain in the pack prison until further notice. No one attacks my mate and gets away with it. Luna Ella, did he touch you as well or just Sophia?" Jonathan said as Alpha Sinclair looked at his mate. He was growling lightly at the worry that Jackson had hurt his mate too.
"No, he didn't," Ella replied. I saw Alpha Sinclair's shoulders loosen when his mate said those words.
"Jimmi, what do you think I should do?" Jonathan said, turning his attention to his beta.
"Well, for sure keep him in the pack prison for the remainder of the meetings," Jimmi said before looking at me and smiling. "He should also hear that if he goes near the Luna again he will be kept longer." Jonathan seemed to like the way Jimmi thought.
Suddenly, my mom walked into the office. "Yes Alpha?" She said with a smile.
"What should we do with Alpha Larry's father? Today Luna Ella decided to tell him to stop staring at, your daughter and how creepy it was. Sophia got involved, telling him she wanted nothing to do with him and then he shoved her, causing her to fall into Ginsing." Jonathan explained.
"Where is he now?" My mom said as soon as she took a deep breath.
"He is in the pack prison. I can't have him harming my mate." Jonathan replied kindly.
"I understand Alpha. Perhaps have one of your warriors drive him back to his territory after you make sure he knows he is not welcome to ever come back." Mom said as she sat down next to me.
"Are you sure that means you will either have to go back to his territory or not see him again?" Jonathan said, making my heart pound. Was he going to exile her because she was his mate? Why would he do that if she was still my mother?
"I understand Alpha. That is why I chose to move to the edge of the territory. I don't want to be a part of his life anymore. I would like to speak with him before he leaves." Mom said after a moment of thought. "I would like my daughter to go with me. Perhaps she may have some things to say that she needs to say without getting interrupted."
"All right. He is being wolfsbaned while he is here. He shouldn't be a problem, but I will still have a guard right outside of the cell." Jonathan said.
"Who is he with?" I asked, remembering that Jonathan said something about letting them fight it out. I didn't know we had anyone else in the prison other than Sandra. Linda had begged for forgiveness and promised to stay away from me if Jonathan allowed her to remain in the pack.
"Joseph," Jonathan said, the one word I thought I would never have to hear again.
"I thought?" I said but stopped myself as I felt a tear fall from my eye.
"Sophia, how was I supposed to do it when you got very sad at the thought of him being put to death?" Jonathan said in a low comforting voice. Jonathan ordered Ginsing to walk with us to the pack prison where two men I never wanted to see were sitting in the same cell.
"Alpha has given me permission to take Luna and Luna's mother to see two of our prisoners," Ginsing said as he approached the guard.
"Of course, Alpha has informed me as well. They are in cell twelve. I will be right here if you need anything." The guard said. His name was Simon. We walked into the cell and saw them sitting on opposite walls. Both were bloody and had cuts all over their faces.
"Hey, whore of a Luna," Joseph said with a wicked smirk.
"Don't call her that," Jackson said with a growl. "She isn't your daughter."
"Yeah, like you are much of a father. I told you to come to get your scum of a daughter." Joseph said.
"I came here for a reason. Jackson, I would have willingly left this pack to be with you until I found out you shoved my daughter. Now I will never want to see you again." Mom stated and put her hand up to stop him from speaking. "I, Lindsey Jameson, reject you, Jackson Trainor, as my mate." My mom said causing Jackson to fling his head back and yell painfully. Joseph started laughing. "Shut up filth. You kept me locked up for sixteen years in that basement. You treated my daughter horribly that entire time for a lie. We aren't mates either. We never were."
I stood and watched as both men looked at my mother and then me like they wanted to kill us. "You do not affect me anymore. You would be dead if I didn't let myself feel bad for you. I wish I didn't. And you, I never wanted to know you. You may be my father, but that is all you will ever be. Once you leave here, I will forget you ever lived." I said as I turned and stormed out. I was tired of seeing these worthless men. I made my way back to the pack house with Ginsing walking alongside me.
By the time I got to the pack house, I had tears coming out of my eyes. I never did anything to deserve all the hurt I got. I didn't stop to see any of the guests. I just rushed to my apartment where I found Rosa pouring something white and powdery into a milk jug. She would know I was craving milk all the time lately. "What the hell are you doing?" I yelled as I caught Jonathan's scent coming up behind me. With the silver zip tie on Rosa's wrist, all of her werewolf abilities were dull, including her sense of smell.
"I am tired of you. It is your fault that I am an omega. I should have been the Luna. This is Aconite. It is similar to Wolfsbane. If it is ingested, it kills any wolf. It is a slow painful death, which is what you deserve." Rosa said as she poured a glass. "Now you are going to drink this and I will have your mate all to myself. There is nothing Dr. Hanson can do to save you."
"Do you really think I am foolish enough to drink that knowing you're trying to kill me? I don't care if Jonathan kills you this time. I am the one that helped you not get executed. I will not even try to stop him now." I said as I also chuckled. Jonathan came around the corner with Ginsing and Matteo.
"Rosa, you are hereby sentenced to death. Matteo and Lincoln get her to the pack prison and have her be injected with both Wolfbane and Aconite." Jonathan said as he pulled me into his arms.
"You can't do that. I would be a far better mate than her," Rosa said with anger. Jonathan didn't reply as the two men pulled her away. I let the tears fall. I understood that all of the she-wolves in our pack wanted to be Jonathan's mate, but he was my mate. I had a feeling there were more wolves, especially she-wolves that didn't like that I was Jonathan's mate. They were just too afraid to say anything.
"Are you going to hold a meeting?" I asked with a mumble. I wasn't even sure that Jonathan heard me until he sighed and then pulled away.
"No. Usually, a meeting is what we do when we don't have witnesses of the crimes. Ginsing is the one that informed me that you could be in danger. So he is our first witness. Matteo and Lincoln also witnessed it." Jonathan said as he kissed me on the forehead. "We start the actual meeting of the day in an hour. It will be your job to socialize with the Lunas. Jimmi will be in charge of talking to the betas." Jonathan said suddenly.
We walked back into the large living room and were once again with all the wolves. "Are you alright?" Ashleigh said as she left Anya's side.
"Rosa put Aconite in my milk and was going to make me drink it," I said as I let the tears fall again.
"You're not going to let her get away with that are you?" Ashleigh said as she wrapped me in her arms.
"No. More than likely, Lincoln and Matteo didn't let her get to the prison. Lincoln looked pretty pissed." Jonathan said as Lincoln and Matteo walked in.
"Sorry Alpha. I couldn't let her get away with it. Ashleigh may be too young still to know it but we are mates and I happen to know that Ashleigh likes to drink milk with Luna and if Luna didn't catch her and Ashleigh would have drunk..." Lincoln said before he stared off into space with a look of pure horror. I visited the Lunas while the Alpha's were meeting. Cassie kept snickering at me the entire time. I did my best to ignore her. As the day ended, Jonathan came out and ordered Jimmi, Ginsing, and Lincoln to show the guests to the pack hotel where their rooms were already paid for.
"Are you alright?" Jonathan said as he walked up and placed his arms around my waist.
"I am alright. How do we know Linda is going to do what she says she will do?" I said as I put my face into his chest. Doing so gave me the best feeling.
"I don't know. I have three of my best guards watching her every move." Jonathan said as he rubbed my back with his hand. "Let's go to bed. Maybe we can take another bath first."
"All right," I said and held his hand as we walked toward our apartment. As soon as we entered our apartment, Jonathan went into the bathroom and began to fill the tub before he returned to me. I was already in the bedroom reading a small article on Jonathan's dresser. I didn't understand why he had this article. It was about a human dying from cancer. "Why do you need this?" I asked when I felt him standing next to me. He reached out with his hand and turned the paper over, revealing a pretty ruby pendant in the shape of a heart.
"Usually, by the time a mate of alpha is named Luna in front of his pack, he gives her something that is important to both. I had a jeweler make something similar to that. However, the stone will have an engraving on it. It will say No Matter What. That is how much I love you. I will love you with all of my heart no matter what happens in life. Also, it shows that you will be in my heart forever. It is supposed to arrive tonight," Jonathan said with a smile.
"But it must have been so expensive," I said. The ruby was wrapped in gold metal with a golden wolf at the bottom of it.
"Nothing is too expensive for my Luna," Jonathan said as he turned me toward him and took the paper, and set it down. He then proceeded to undress me. Once we both were fully undressed, we walked into the bathroom and got into the bathtub. He was first to get in but I followed quickly.
"Has there ever been an Alpha that fathered twins?" I asked suddenly after breaking our kiss. When I was sixteen, I had a dream about having twins and I was now concerned that the dream would come true. How would we know which one would be alpha?
"I have never heard of it happening, but I don't know for sure." He replied before pulling me back into our kiss. After our bath, we headed to the bedroom before hearing a knock on the front door. Jonathan walked toward the door with me right behind him. The scent was a wolf but I was unfamiliar with the scent. "It is all right," Jonathan said as he opened the door. It revealed a man standing with a little box. When he handed it to me, he thanked the wolf that had brought it.
I was amazed at how beautiful it was. Jonathan took it out of the box and walked behind before he gently put it on. It came to rest right over my heart. I couldn't stop staring at it. "My beloved Luna," Jonathan said taking my attention away from the pendant. He then led forward and smashed his lips into mine.
