as a stepped through the threshold and entered the kitchen, I realized we were low on vegetables so I went across to the sturdy white door leading to the garden. I looked over at the newer planted one's before stepping over and around till I saw the older one's ready to be picked. my hand latched around a few and I pulled a few easily meanwhile other's were so hard I would fall to the ground with a sigh and trying again. By the end of it I was covered by dirt but Lux had finished getting some sort of clothing for ash and they were brushing ash's hair calmly while he sat, staring at the ground looking numb.
"sorry for my late appearance and the food not being done, ill get to it! I just was--" I stopped when Lux just shook their head smiling, "It's just fine, you were getting the ingredient's, I'm assuming.. we will be fine, okay?" Lux got up and started to fill up a glass of water for Ash. "Right! I'll just cook." I said awkwardly washing the carrot's, cabbage, and other needed ingredient's;
"Oh my! is he alright?" Willow asked, grabbing Ash's arm and examining him with worry. "He is just fine, stop bothering him, please!" Lux gripped Ash protectively before eyeing me which made Willow decide to help out.
After so long we made a salad and got some drink's among with various sweet's we found stashed along the house, most likely from kid's of some sort. "Is it at least alright?" I asked and Ash nodded, swallowing bit's of salad and taking sip's of water. "He's probably just tired, lay off." Lux growled meanwhile Ash just finished his plate and looked over at Haro. "I remember you.." Ash mumbled smiling lightly. " oh kiddo, hey! " Haro smiled before picking him up to take him to his nicely now made room.
Haro put his thumbs up after leaving the room to head over to his room in an attempt to come up with a safer alternative to a zombie testing kit. The one before was one that was bound to injure us in some way or another, Willow has never been a nosy person but ever since she one time decided to help Haro out with a test; she never went back into the lab again. Blizzard made their way over and sat beside me as I shut the drapes to try and shut out the zombie groans while they attempted to find something or well-- someone to munch on.. I patted Blizzard's head before picking 'er up and heading to my room while wondering how we will stay alive and find more people. We can't just stay here happily avoiding zombies our entire life, can we? I frowned laying down lazily not bothering to shut my eyes to sleep, it was more of a: "I need to force myself to take a break before my mind and body shut it's self down without warning me type of thing, the type that people who feel like they can't rest and need to constantly be busy would never consider unless forced somehow or someway.
It was annoying at first, trying to relax without anything to do, trying to force the memories and events out of my mind to make room for just anything calming. I wanted to breathe for once without feeling pain, fear, anger or any strong emotion that could bring me down, why would some kids like us be picked to attempt to survive? Were we special? Calm? Unique?
Only the universe or whatever god's out there would know. heck, maybe there wasn't even a god but how would I know.
I'm just a teenager who needs a mental and physical break. Is that a lot to ask for?
