Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Jewel

The training was intense but well worth it in my opinion. The pack we would be up against was a strong one and we needed all the advantages we could get. Sapphire was really taking the idea of going to war pretty hard. We all were under the circumstances, but she seemed to be more affected than the rest of us, which was saying something. She was outside trying to clear her head I assume. I was currently upstairs running a bath to relax my sore muscles.

I stripped off my clothes and climbed into the warm water after adding some of my special bath salt. After an hour or so I was feeling a little better and went down to see what everyone else was doing. Jade and Diamond were talking while Crystal and Ruby were watching a lifetime movie. I noticed Sapphire hadn't returned.

"Have you guys seen Saf?" I asked.

"No. You know her she's probably out there lost in thought singing to herself. She'll be back soon," said Diamond.

"I guess your right," I said joining them.

Our parents came in after a while to let us know that they were leaving and would be back later tonight. As time passed I began to worry about Sapphire. I know it was probably nothing but she had been gone quite a while and I had a strange feeling.

"Hey guys I'm going to go check on Saf," I told them walking out the door. I went over to her usual spot and noticed she wasn't there which was odd.

"Saf?" I called, but got no answer. I kept looking but found her nowhere in sight.

I decided to mind link her.

"Saf you okay?" It took her a while to respond.

"Jewels?" she said finally.

"Yeah it's me. Where are you?" I asked curiously.

"Promise me you won't freak out?"

"Saf you scaring me. What's wrong?"

"I found my mate."

To say I was stunned would be an understatement. I couldn't believe it. We were one step closer to fulfilling our destiny. One step closer to ridding our world of war. She would eventually come into her powers. This was huge.

"Wow Saf that's great!"

"Yeah but it's complicated. Jewels I'm so confused."

"What do you mean?"

"He's the alpha of the enemy territory," I didn't know what to say. This was bad, very bad. I could see why she hadn't been in a hurry to inform us.

"Jewels say something."

"What are you going to do?"

"I don't know honestly. I'm with him now. He wouldn't leave without me. On top of that I like him already."

"Oh my goodness Saf this is not going to end well. Everyone is going to be looking for you. The alpha is not going to be happy, and what about your parents?"

"I know I know this could make the war happen even sooner since he isn't going to let me leave. I want to tell my parents. I really do, but I know my mom is just going to cry and Dad is going to be furious."

"Do you think you can convince your mate to call off the war?"

"I don't know but it's worth a try"

"Good luck do you want me to tell the girls?"

"Sure why not. They will find out soon enough. I will deal with my parents. Thanks for checking up on me."

"Of course."

I shut off the link and went to tell the girls.

I knew I had to do something but I didn't know what. I did already have feelings for River, but I was in a very difficult situation. I was pretending to be asleep the whole time I talked to Jewels. Now, I would deal with my parents.

"Mom," I said through the mind link.

"Sapphire. Sweetheart are you okay?"

"I found my mate mom."

"Oh honey that's great!"

"He's the alpha of the pack we're about to go to war with," she went silent.

"Honey I don't know what to say. This is shocking to say the least. Are you sure?"

"Yes mom. I'm certain."

" I'm so sorry honey," I could hear the pain in her voice I knew she was about to cry.

"It's okay mom don't cry. I'm with him now. He wouldn't leave without me. I going to try to reason with him."

"What if it doesn't work?"

"I don't know mom. I really don't, but I have to try. I won't let anything happen to you guys I promise."

"I never wanted this for you. I only wanted you to be happy. You're so young. It shouldn't be this way."

"I know mom. I love you."

"I love you too baby. I will deal with your father. Please keep me informed. We will come get you if we have to."

"Okay mom, bye."

I closed the link and prayed silently that my mate could be persuaded.

"What's on your mind love. I know you're only pretending to sleep."

I decided now was as good a time as any to get things out in the open. I couldn't tell him who I was yet. He had to see that war was wrong on his own for us to truly be bonded.

"River do you really have to go through with this war? My friends and family are in danger if you do this."

His face turned into a frown.

"I waged war on that pack before I met you. I will not back down now because you came into the picture. If your alpha would have just handed over the territory, we wouldn't need to go to war."

"But River there's still time for you to-"

"Enough! I will not discuss this any further. I am an alpha and you are my luna. Whether you like it or not this war is not optional and you will do as I say. We are going to war and that's final."

I couldn't believe how unreasonable he was being. I hated wars and this was not going to work if he continued to act like this. We rode the rest of the way in silence.

When we got to what I assumed was his pack house I tried not to show how shocked I was. It was beautiful. It was designed to have an ancient feel to it. The whole house was painted with blue doors and windows. There were other houses around it that I assumed belonged to mated couples. I looked off into the distance and saw the most beautiful garden I had ever seen. A door opened and brought me out of my daze. I looked over and noticed River smirking.

I got out of the car and followed him in without a word. We didn't meet anyone along the way as he led me up to what I assumed was his room. Everything in it was blue even the large flat screen TV and gaming systems which had to be custom made. I couldn't help but admire his taste.

"Love talk to me," he said after a few minutes.

"Since apparently what I think doesn't count why bother," I said still upset with him.

"That's not what I meant and you know it! I am an alpha dammit and I will not tolerate disrespect!"

"Well let me tell you something Mr. Alpha. I will not set back and watch innocent people die just so you can get what you want. You're selfish and I will not pretend to be happy about you possibly killing the people I love."

He looked taken aback at my words but I spoke the truth. Wars were senseless and its high time he realized it. After a few minutes of silence, he finally walked away from me slamming the door. I cried myself to sleep.
