Natsu had got a call from Lucy that sounded like something bad had happened. He didn't have time to explain to the kids so he just dropped them off at the guild with Erza and promised her to pay her back later as he rushed over to the clinic lucy had gone too. He was in the waiting room as he told the nurse his name and that he was here for his wife.
"Oh! Your Mr. Dragneel the doctor has been waiting for.. please come in sir.."
*the nurse had him follow her as she opened a door as he saw Lucy's back and the doctor infront of her now sitting behind his desk.*
"Please, take a seat Mr. Dragneel… this won't take long and won't be easy to digest.."
*the doctor said in a flat serious tone as natsu took a seat next to Lucy. He tried getting a look at her face but couldn't as she had leaned forward having her hair block his vision.*
"So how long have you two been married?"
*the doctor began with some small talk as he didn't want go straight out right tell them the sad news*
"We've been married for 2 years now…"
*natsu talked as he wasn't grinning or in a happy mood, he saw that there was something wrong with Lucy and her pregnancy… whatever it was he had to be strong for her now..*
"I see… is this your first time trying for kids?"
*the doctor began stirring the point of the topic slowly as he needed to know where in their marriage were the couple in, if this was their first child he would need to be more clear about it and supportive that this wasn't a often thing to happen.*
"No, we already have two kids waiting for us at home.. doc.. just tell us already, what's wrong with my wife…"
*natsu began to get impatient as he needed to know what was wrong with Lucy, he was beginning to become more anxious*
"Nothing is wrong with your wife Mr. Dragneel, if anything she's perfectly healthy and fit.. but, today as she came in for a check up and blood work for her pregnancy… the results were lower then it should have been by now in her progress… Mr. Dragneel, Mrs. Dragneel… I'm sorry but the child inside you has already passed away… all that your body is doing now is getting ready to miscarry the pregnancy out of your body…"
The doctor finished as he saw natsu's face changed from his worried and anxious to that of grief and anger… as for Lucy, her face didn't change from her serious dead eyes..
"Mrs. Dragneel… I want to talk to you and your partner both today.. just because your baby inside you didn't make it. It doesn't mean it has something to do that's wrong in your body. Your a perfectly healthy 25 year old woman who's at her prime of her life… miscarriages are normal to see from time to time since some pregnancy have a genetic problem from the beginning making the fetus in danger of growing disfigured or born with a disability… and that's what every woman's body does during a faulty pregnancy… they miscarry the pregnancy and begin anew.. what I'm trying to say to you Mrs. Dragneel is that .. this isn't your fault in anyway.. this child has only decided to leave a bit earlier.. you will have the same child again if you try again next time.. please don't feel any remorse twords yourself.. I can tell your a good mother to your other two children,"
*the doctor faced natsu's direction now as he didn't get a response from Lucy as he began giving natsu tips on what to expect or what to do to improve her mental state.*
"Yeah… I understand doc, …. That's the last thing I would let my partner go through alone… "
"Okay then… I hope you come back later with better luck next time then… also if she doesn't bleed out the miscarriage have her return or visit your local hospital.. it can pose a risk to Mrs. Dragneel if she were to get an infection in her womb… that being said I wish you the best ."
*the doctor gave natsu a pat on the back of encouragement as natsu walked out with Lucy from the clinic.*
".. hey luce.. do you want to talk?.."
*natsu tried now to get Lucy to talk but she only kept walking twords the direction of her apartment… natsu called the guild with Lucy's communicator as he asked for Erza to please watch the kids for the next few days back at his residence please as he explained the situation to her and she agreed understanding the gravity of the problem. He hung up as he opened the door to Lucy's apartment as he saw Lucy sitting on the floor infront of a body mirror she had bought.*
"… come on luce… speak to me.. I'm here for you.."
*natsu sat behind her as he split his legs to sit close to Lucy and hugged her from her waist.. he couldn't get her to talk so he did what he did best… communicate with his body..*
"… na-tsu…"
"… yes?…"
"… I lost our baby today…"
"… I know…."
"…. are you angry with me?.."
"..no.."
"… are you upset?…"
*natsu took a brief pause as he huffed a hopeless sigh at her unusual questions now*
"..a little.."
"… do you still love me?…"
*natsu hugged her tighter as he hid his nose into her neck from behind and breathed out a warm breath into her*
"… of course.."
Lucy stayed their sitting looking at the mirror as she finally couldn't hold it anymore and began crying..
She cried and cried as she thought of the child inside her had probably had asked for her help when she first vomited or that if she wouldn't have been reckless to ignore the signs, she would still have her baby alive inside her…
She felt something come out of her as she had put pressure to cry louder. She got up breaking off natsu tight hug as she ran into the restroom and locked it preventing natsu from coming in… she sat in the toilet to only see her blood stained underwear filled with a bit of blood as she heard the drops of what she had assumed now where the pieces of her pregnancy dripping out of her.. she began to cry softly now as she got undressed and was naked on the toilet hugging herself in a fetal position.
"Lucy.. open the door… please… I can't leave you alone for a long time.. it's doctors orders…"
*natsu's voice was heard through the door as Lucy refused to respond back or even look at the door.*
"Lucy… please… open the door… don't be like this to me… please Lucy.."
*natsu whined as he tried convincing her to open the door but knew it wasn't going to work, he soon smelled the blood as he panicked and slammed his shoulder against the door as it flung open..*
"Lucy! Where are you hurt?! Are you okay!?!"
*natsu scanned her as he had heard from the doctor that sometime mothers would hurt themselves as a result to punish themselves for losing the baby.. he didn't believe Lucy would be the type to do that to herself but the smell of blood proved to him otherwise.*
"Lucy tell me where it hurts, I'll try to fix it or .. or!"
*natsu paused as he tried gathering the correct words to say in this situation but flinched as Lucy uncurled from her position as she stood up twords him with tears in her eyes and anger.*
"OR WHAT NATSU!!! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO!!? ARE YOU GOING TO GIVE ME ANOTHER BABY!?"
*lucy looked at him fiercely as she was filled with rage at herself but had directed the anger twords th person she didn't wish to yell at the most.*
"YES! ILL GIVE YOU ANOTHER BABY LUCY! ILL GIVE YOU AS MANY AS YOU WANT!! Just… DONT LEAVE ME LUCY!!"
*natsu hugged her now as he felt her trying to push him away and fought him over something he decided to tune out.. she was not okay and whatever she said now would hurt him, he was already in too much pain and he wasn't going to show her his vulnerability when she needed him to be strong for her the most.*
Lucy began to melt her anger to that of grief as her punches to his back became lighter and she sobbed into his shoulders..
".. Natsu.. please let go… I'm bleeding right now… my baby..-no… our baby is bleeding out of me right now.. *sob* natsu please … let go.."
"No I won't let go lucy… I'll never let you go…"
The two cried into each other's being as Lucy stood there naked in natsu's warm arms as evening turned into the afternoon..
