Chapter 45 - Soldier!

Putting all those Nobles and death row criminals really did come in handy as they allowed me to break into the next tier in the Rank: Human power level. Seeing the numbers truly made me smile as it helped drain the pain of not learning a single skill from all of those bodies.

"Still though, not a single skill? There were over 50K corpses and not a single one of them provided a single skill. I mean I know it says there is a small chance, but still did I use all of my recent good luck? Or is it my own bad luck just returning? Or is it that I'm still ignoring the laughing Skull Ring." I said aloud while digging two very special graves in the front of my house.

I planned on burying two of the Red Boar Riders tonight. There was a story I remember about how to bury two powerful bodies. There was a very off chance that what I was doing was not going to work but there was a saying that seemed to fit well for what I was doing.

"Screw around and find out." I said with a smile as I started pulling out some very specific materials I asked Siegbald to get me. "Still, I can't believe he was able to find what I asked for."

I had asked Siegbald to find me some very odd and specific things that would potentially help increase the chances of bringing my idea to fruition.

Six Pure Earth Orbs, Six Pure Fire Orbs, Six Pure Water Orbs, Six Pure Air Orbs, Six Pure Dark Orbs, and Six Pure Light Orbs. These were the main materials that I had specifically asked Siegbald to find as well as any other materials to help complement the orbs.

The only thing that I wasn't able to find was any corpse above the Rank: Human, let alone the Rank: Soldier as well, it seemed Siegbald knew some personal information about my job as Keeper of the Grave.

But Siegbald did surprise me as he gifted me twenty barrels worth of a special burial liquor in bottles that he had made for me personally. He called it Susceptors Nox even went as far to include a full ownership contract for a small wine shop saying that it was compensation for any Baron being of a higher Rank.

Shura even took over a quarter of the bottles saying that she had an amazing idea as she explained how the Vampires in the Otihame Kingdom would very much enjoy this type of new liquor and left.

But there was one body that I was really interested in as it was the only corpse that had something personal on him.

"I really hope my feeling I have is correct about you my dear ex-soldier. If not then I guess I'll try something else. If not, since you're a strong person the front garden will look really nice."

I finished with a smile on my face as I finished digging the graves and put one random body of the Red Boar Riders into the one hole that had all of the light specific materials to bury the body.

While the other hole I placed the ex-soldier into the other grave that had all the dark specific materials to bury the body. As well as the medal that he had kept on him as it seemed to be important to him when he was alive.

I pulled out one of the bottles of Susceptors Nox as well as a personal cup for myself.

"Cheers to you fallen soldier, may you fulfill your wish in your next life. May you rampage and let your name shake the heavens or gates of the underworld themselves." I spoke with a solemn voice as I poured myself a cup, saluted the soldier, finished the cup, and poured the entire bottle over the corpse of the soldier.

"Susceptors Nox very good name, for a very amazing burial. Clean, icy, and perfect for an important night." I let out a satisfying sigh complementing the liquor as I began preparations for two torches to burn the bodies of the two Red Boar Riders.

I closed my eyes as I took a deep breath to help clear my mind before tossing both torches into the graves and pulling out my shovel in order to be prepared for anything to happen.

The torches immediately went aflame with two distinct colors as the one with the light materials burned a pure white flame while the one with the dark materials burned a pure black, a silent flame.

My anticipation increased as when I saw the colors from the two graves yet nothing happened as both bodies continued to burn.

Not a notification, not anything.

But I never let my guard down as I continued to watch the corpses burn in two beautiful flames. Yet I noticed something as the bodies seemed to be finished burning as the intensity of the flames increased as a familiar sound echoed in my head.

{System Notification. Hidden Effect from Job: Keeper of the Grave has activated.}

{Effect: The Restless Dead has activated.}

{System Notification. Effect: The Restless Dead's Unique Effect activated.}

I frowned as I looked at the new notification from the system while kissing my teeth.

'Job: Keeper of the Grave.'

The Restless Dead (Hidden Effect.) - The Corpses you bury who have reached the Rank: Soldier or higher become restless as their soul/spirit cannot remain at rest. The stronger the Rank the more powerful the Soul/Spirit.

Call of the Soul (Unique Effect.) - Buried with a personal item and empowered by special materials strengthening the Soul/Spirit allowing the buried body's soul to be called. Calling it back while unlocking the full potential of the called soul. (Warning, please be warned this Effect ***** *** *** ******* *** ******* **** *** ** *** **** ** ** *** * ***... Good Luck.)

I wasn't upset by what the two effects were able to do.

If anything I was annoyed that the system gave out a massive red flag and made it worse by blocking a lot of information that I'm pretty sure I need to know.

I returned my attention to the two graves as both the fires had gone out as a white and black glow started to emit from the two graves as two very different roars echoed out.

The one from the white glowing one sounded like one of the regular undead from this Otherworld that was described from the books in Ulrich's Library.

But the one from the black glowing one sounded inhumane as the light it started to emit started to intensify the more inhumane the roaring became.

Right after their roaring ended, two different colored hands grasped the sides of their graves as I increased my focus as a slight smile formed on my face as a pure white skeleton with a copper aura stood to its feet in front of its grave with a weak soul fire in its eyes.

While a pure black skeleton with a darker copper aura stood to its feet with discipline in front of its grave with a strong soul fire in its eyes, yet what made it stand out from the pure white skeleton was that it was staring at me with a look of focus.
