Chapter 25 - Good Fishing.

I continued stargazing for an unknown amount of time before I felt something starting to crawl on me. I slowly started to look in the area I felt was being crawled on.

Only to see a huge centipede bigger than my arm crawling up my leg!

Its legs were a combination of black and purple, while its shell was a glossy black, and its mandibles looked like it would have no problem taking a chunk out of me.

Its compound looking eyes seemed to be looking at me with slight intelligence as it released a low hissing sound as it stopped as it shifted its head side to side.

I started to smile a little as I was quite familiar, even a little fond of centipedes in my Otherworld I was from.

I responded with a small hiss of my own as I slowly started to adjust myself.

The centipede seemed to be shocked as well as confused as its head stopped as it lifted the front half of its body. It even started to curve its head as it started to open its mandibles wide, while issuing a low and angry sounding hiss.

Ready to strike.

I wasn't scared by what the centipede was doing as I continued to slowly hiss as I got into a seated position as I put my arm close to the centipede at an angle. Allowing it to climb up my arm if it wanted to.

"It's ok. I'm not going to hurt you. Gods you look gorgeous, bet I would have lost a leg or two from you if I freaked out." I said aloud as the centipede continued to hold its position as it issued a couple more low hissing sounds.

I raised my brows slightly as I thought that the centipede could possibly understand what I was saying. As I repeated what I just said with a couple of hisses of my own.

The centipede seemed to understand as I felt it starting to slowly crawl up my arm, up my shoulder, rested its head on my right shoulder, and it started to vibrate softly while issuing a low sounding hiss.

I smiled as I looked at the centipede as I could only shake my head slightly as I reached near its head near its antennae and started to scratch as the centipede's head shifted to the side I was scratching.

"No wonder you're bigger, you're female. Still you are a beauty. I wonder if you are hungry?" I continued to scratch as I talked to the centipede who seemed to be ignoring me as it looked to be enjoying my scratching. "Well you're gonna be disappointed for a moment as I do have to get down from here, but you are more than welcome to join me."

The centipede still didn't respond until I stopped scratching as it looked confused for a moment as she looked towards my hand then over to me as it started to hiss.

I started to laugh as I repeated what I said earlier.

Yeah I know insane right. I must be crazy, but the centipede seemed to understand what I said as gave out a quick warning hiss, left my shoulders, and quickly went down the tree in a rush.

I could only shake my head as I followed the centipede and climbed down the tree and when I got down. Oh, was I surprised by the sight of destruction to the forest floor.

But the centipede didn't seem to care for my shock as she quickly crawled up my leg, made herself comfortable on my shoulder, issued a low hiss, and started to stare at my hand.

I just sighed as I started to scratch the spot near her antennae as I looked at the destruction of the forest and the many broken corpses that now seemed to decorate the forest like a good B-Movie.

The Trees were broken in multiple spots. Bodies of many animals, beasts, and insects littered the trees as their blood still slowly flowed from their broken bodies as it sprinkled the forest ground below.

"This could be a good idea for a haunted house. Maybe I should make a really good one and invite the locals?" I asked the centipede as she continued to ignore me as she was enjoying being scratched. "Still, I couldn't have taken the corpses if I wanted to anyway. So many would just be in poor condition. Still most would be losing their lunch looking at this. Let alone smell it."

I started to smile a little as I remembered an older memory of when I saw something like this on the job.

I just continued to smile as I started to slowly head in the direction of where I dug the graves of the sons of Big Red. I still couldn't believe that they were both Big Reds sons.

The forest decorations continued as I was kinda enjoying the stroll through it. The centipede even seemed to be satisfied from my scratching as it let out a satisfied hiss and shook its head as it just silently laid on my shoulder.

"Hopefully the bait I unknowingly placed left me a trophy to show off when I get back. If not, at least have something to show for my fishing trip." I said aloud as I continued to navigate through the forest. "Still I'm a little amazed, I don't feel lost. It's like I instinctively know where I dug their graves."

I just mentally shrugged as I counted that as something that came from my Grave Digger class or just from my multiple years from digging many graves.

I kept my pace as I strolled through the forest as I was able to get to an area of the forest that I felt familiar with and knew that the graves wouldn't be that much further.

I just kept my pace as I pulled out my shovel just in case anything went bad, but the closer I got the more relaxed I felt as I noticed the area where I dug the two graves. I even started to smile as I noticed six complete corpses of the Red Boar Riders.

Two of them even seemed to have their armor intact as well as a wide smile started to form on my face as I shoved my shovel into the ground and leaned on it as I felt an amazing feeling starting to spread.

But just when I felt that amazing feeling starting to peak it stopped abruptly as it was cut off and replaced by a feeling of anger.

I was confused as to why I was feeling anger as I didn't understand where it came from.

"Why am I angry? Shouldn't I be joyous? I just got six amazing trophies to bring back. I should be singing with happiness." I said with slight confusion as I started to grip my shovel making my knuckles start to turn white.

I continued being confused as I tried to figure out why I was, until I looked over in the direction of the two graves that I had dug.

Then just like my anger showed up, it was gone. As I felt it slowly being replaced by a cold silence as I looked at two freshly dug and empty graves.
