Chereads / Grave Digging Demon / Chapter 2 - Questions and Some Answers.

Chapter 2 - Questions and Some Answers.

{Urgent Quest - Survive.}

Quest Rank - E

Description: Survive, escape the unfortunate situation that you have just found yourself in. What's that? You don't know, oh. Then you should probably start digging. Oh and good luck.

Reward - Um, you live??? Oh, and you get hurt.

Special - Again this should be easy, I mean come on look at the rank. Fine… you're in something you've dug thousands and thousands of times before.

X2 Special - If you fail this, no one would feel sorry for you. They'd laugh a lot.

'…?'

'…??'

'…'

'Something I've dug thousands of… are you saying, that...'

'Oh, ok. This is fine. This is totally fine. No problem, yeah completely normal. Totally easy.'

'And I'm rewarded with pain and living. Isn't that just awesome.'

[I totally agree, but I would also like to remind you that you have little air left to escape. Plus I don't wish to die with two dead morons.]

"!?!"

[Don't be too surprised. And again you should probably start digging, what's a little pain compared to living. And again I don't wish to die next to two morons.]

Well that was a little blunt, but again the voice in my head is not wrong.

'Surprised, only a little. I'm not surprised that I'm in a grave next to a dead body, not the first time. I've dug myself out of a grave before so it should be pretty easy depending on the state of the grave. And I'm pretty sure it'll happen again.' I said internally.

'But what I'm surprised about is that I have another voice in my head.'

I tried to feel around to check the status of the grave. Checking to make sure if it was a recently dug grave or one that has been around for a while.

Luckily it seemed to be a recently dug grave and the odd thing in my opinion was that it was shallow and horribly dug. Like a child had dug the grave.

[Wait, you've dug yourself out a grave multiple times? How? And another voice? How many voices in your head do you have?]

'Yes to the first question. Second, besides your new voice compared to the multiple others that I have, I've lost count. And well, do you want to hear the first time I had to dig myself out of a grave or just the most recent time before this one?' I asked as I started clawing the horribly compressed dirt. Breaking and tearing my nails off sending a hardly noticeable sting of pain.

[Um the first one… I guess. And you should probably see someone for the multiple voices.] The voice in my head said with slight concern in its voice.

My lips curved slightly as I started to recount the time I first dug myself out of a grave. And I'll admit it was a funny story, especially since it all started like an old saturday morning cartoon.

I was easily able to claw my way through the dirt breaking through only to hear a very high and muffled scream. Hopefully it was the individual who dug the grave. If not, then whoever they are, they are going to need some therapy… probably

"Aaaaaahhhhhh… the… have… … en… mebody ge… lp aaahhhh."

'Well isn't this an interesting start to the day I guess. Hey did you catch what he said or did you get the same as me?' I asked the voice in my head. I should probably ask if they want a name.

[I got the same as you.] The voice in my head responded.

I mentally shrugged as I started to make the hole bigger as the screaming continued. I was quickly able to make the hole big enough so that I could pull myself out. Only to see a horribly taken care of crypt and a still screaming and crazed old man.

All I have to say is that, I'm definitely not in my original world anymore.

{Bing, bong.}

'The hell?'

{Host has completed Urgent Quest - Survive.}

{Host's award has already been granted. Make sure to check your for the remainder of the award. See I told you it was an easy quest.}

I could only smile slightly as I briefly looked around, completely ignoring the still screaming and panicking old man.

'Hey uh… the voice in my head can you show me my status and do you have a name? I don't think calling you the voice in my head sounds all too nice.' I asked the voice in my head with a little embarrassment.

[Sure, and unfortunately I don't have a name.] The voice in my head said with a little confusion in its voice. [Oh, and I'll be absent for like twenty to thirty minutes since I have to look through your memories for a bit.]

I couldn't respond as a virtual looking screen appeared before me.

"…"

"…"

"Huh, not that bad… I guess. At least they weren't all at one." I mumbled to myself as I continued to ignore the old man who seemed to have calmed down. "Why is my Wisdom and Charisma so high, even though they are in a weakened state…?"

I continued to mumble to myself. Still continuing to ignore the now very calm looking and deep in thought old man.

'Still I wonder what the voice in my head meant when it said it was going to look through my memories? There's really not much there.' I internalized as I started to pay attention to the now very creepily smiling old man.

He was wearing what looked like a worn yet very high quality made robe. With gold patterns that looked like a centipede. He was about to speak when a loud voice interrupted him.

"Get back Keeper!! That thing would rip out your throat without hesitation! Now prepare to die, you lowly undead scum!" A man in a bright white robe with bright blue edging boldly exclaimed with justice in his voice.

The man in the white robe raised his hand to his chest as a soft white-blue light started to form in his hand.

A small smile started to form on his face until a heavy and vile aura filled the area. Making the man in white turn white with a look of absolute horror on his face.

"Hey? Did you forget who's domain this is?" The old man spoke in an elderly tone with a slight smile on his face.

"I'll forgive you for calling my inheritor 'a lowly undead scum' if you could politely tell the Duke to send for an escort for the Otherworlder."

The man in white quickly nodded his head as he stumbled multiple times trying to get as far away as possible.

The old man continued to look at the running man in white as the heavy and vile aura slowly started to dissipate.

When the man in white was no longer in sight the old man slowly turned to face me with a elderly yet proud smile on his face.

"Now I wonder why you were summoned here? Ah sorry, where are my manners? I'm Ulrich Braune the Grave Keeper. You can call me Keeper if you want. Who are you and oh, did you receive a letter." Ulrich tried to stand straight or what he was capable of because he was still slightly hunched forward.

"I'm Bastion. And did you just call me an Otherworlder?" I asked with confusion on my face.

"Yes." Ulrich replied with no hesitation.

"So this isn't the first time someone has been summoned into this world before?" I asked with slight worry as my mind started to go down into a rabbit hole.

"The first. Uhhhh… I've lost count how many times. Normally it's about a summon every twenty five years… plus the amount is different depending on the mood of the current King. But it has been going on for about a thousand years…"

Ulrich had a thoughtful look on his face as he continued to list off multiple other interesting things. There was even a story about how one summon and one Otherworlder tried to do something to the Queen. Only to have their skull turned into the Queen's most favorite wine cup.

He even mentioned the King slaughtering that recently summoned group. Summoned another group, with the bodies of the recently slaughtered other group still in the room.

Apparently it's the most talked about event.

Then, Ulrich asked me a question that I had to ask him to repeat as it sounded like lightning in my ears.

"Say that again."

Ulrich smiled as he opened his eyes for the first time to show only black empty holes. "I said, was there a special silver-green lightning that existed in your world?"

I could only nod my head as the voice in my head finally returned.

[Bastion just who in any and all Gods, name are you! Why are so many of your memories blocked or have defenses that should be impossible in your world!] The voice in my head exclaimed with excitement until.

{Bing, bong.}

{Quest - Take back what's yours 1/?.}
