Saturday early in the morning, Luna woke up at four. Took a bath and came out shivering in the room when the heater didn't work out well. With a towel on her head and a robe carelessly hiding her nakedness, she hurried to turn on the room heater a little bit high to ease her cold shower.
Luna saw that Yong was still sleeping soundly in bed before she proceeded into her drawer to dress up. She then dried her hair and fixed a slight make-up for the day, wishing it won't be smudged when she gonna work in the kitchen's diner later.
It was quarter to four when Luna looked over the bed and her cat was still soundly sleeping. She can't possibly leave the house without feeding it first. Knowing her cat's temper, for sure, waking it up won't be a very charming idea but she gotta try.
So she gently sat on the bed and petted its head.
"Yong? Honey?" she called out in the softest voice. She leaned over and kissed the top of its head, can't help herself for its adorableness. "Wake up, hmm?"
The cat purred in response, yawning. It actually blinked sleepily at her while she smiled.
"Aigoo, look at you," she said. "I'm leaving for the whole day until late at night. I'm worried that no one will feed you here. Will you come with me?"
The cat only meowed in response and Luna didn't know if it was a yes or no. So she just stood up and reached out her arms, indicating the cat to come or not.
But the cat took its time stretching its body before it allowed Luna to carry him into her arms.
"You'll gonna love it there, Yong-ah," Luna assured as she was walking towards the diner with a cat in her arms.
It only took her five minutes to reach the diner and Luna smiled widely when her hired service crews were already there, cleaning up again for a few dusts and wiping the glass walls and doors.
"Good morning, Ms. Luna." They all greeted her cheerfully.
"Hello Bobby, Milo," Luna said while placing the cat in the cash register counter.
"You have an adorable cat, Ms. Luna," Milo said while Bobby wanted to gush over the cat when Luna spread her arms widely.
"This is not a friendly cat so don't you guys dare on approaching him." Luna warned while Bobby and Milo saw for themselves how the cat had the unusual unfriendly aura while regarding them in a bored expression.
"Ah yes, Ms. Luna." Milo only said.
"And please, just call me Luna."
Both young freshman college boys nodded to her enthusiastically while they prepared the things needed before they opened the diner at eight in the morning.
A few minutes before the time, Milo and Bobby were actually awed when people began to flock outside the diner while Luna was being busy in the kitchen after feeding her cat.
"I'm sorry I'm late! Aigoo, I overslept." Woonie came at the back door and dropped his bag down the floor.
"I thought you ditch out on me," Luna said with a smiling face.
"No way I'm gonna ditch out on my girlfriend," Woonie said rather loudly seeing for himself the two handsome service crews that Luna hired.
"Yah. I'm not your girlfriend. I'm your boss today so get your booty on the cash register." Luna said while Milo and Bobby secretly scoffed in secret while Woonie rolled his eyes at them.
Eight in the morning when the diner was opened to its first fifty early customers that it was very hectic exclamations of orders while Luna was the one in charge in the kitchen. She moved fast and precisely that a single mistake was the only one not in the menu for today.
The cat was the witness of it all how the woman was very patient to her job, smiling even when she was exhausted for cooking. The cash registers kept on dinging and the service crews ran here and there, serving the customer with the utmost politeness, charming some ladies who came to eat alone so that they won't feel lonely.
At eleven, Bret, Cristine, Mikael as well as Top, Sean, and Dean came to assist Luna . Most especially that when lunch came, the people fluctuated even more. That the kitchen was out with some ingredients. Good that Sean and Top brought their car and ran to the groceries with the girls. It didn't take long before they arrived, literally sweating from running like mad people in the store, getting the needed items at once, and dashing into the counter.
"You guys literally saved my life." Luna only said to her friends and began operating in the kitchen like one mad woman too.
The people kept on flocking and flocking that Bret, Cristine, and Mikael had picked up the tray and helped Bobby and Milo to wait tables. While the rich guys were the ones doing the dishes without much complaint.
It was only three in the afternoon and Luna's fridge was literally empty as well as her pantry, all condiments, even the pickled kimchi, the stocks upon stocks of ramyeon, the eggs, beers, suju, and many of her groceries seemed like being robbed out from the pantry.
Luna was in the floor of the kitchen, panting while turning her attention to Bobby and Milo who had their heads protruded through the door of the kitchen.
"What shall we do with a hundred more people outside, Luna-shi?" Milo asked.
"A hundred more?" Luna asked in intimidation while looking around her kitchen. "We don't have any more stocks. Tell them to come back tomorrow."
