Chapter 1 - Breaking the Peace of Night

On a serene night, the silver moon casted an ethereal glow on the mortal world, and the small stars sparkled like pearls, adorning the dark blue night sky. The night sky was picturesque.

When suddenly,

Screechhhhhhhh...

Thud.

Bang!

The loud screeching sound of a vehicle's tires was followed by a large crash on a quiet road, breaking the silence of the night. There were not many cars passing by, but none of the few that did stopped to check what was going on.

Amidst the chaos, the petite figure of a young girl was spotted walking some distance from the crash. Small and pretty face with glowing skin, big brown eyes, perky nose, and rosy lips.

Her big brown eyes were staring unfocusedly ahead.

Intentional or otherwise, she seemed to be immersed in her own thoughts, oblivious to her surroundings.

Not long after, a slight frown appeared on her fair, delicate forehead.

The smell of something burning entered her nostrils, which brought her out of her dazed state. She looked around to find the source of the smell when suddenly her eyes caught a car not far ahead, smashed into the guardrails on the side of the road.

She immediately ran up to the car without caring about anything else in the world.

When she arrived near the car, she noticed that there was no one else near the car, which meant only two possibilities: that the driver somehow lost control of the car and smashed into the guardrails, or that it was a hit and run case.

She ran up to the back window of the car and peered inside to see if there was anyone inside that could be in danger and needed help. She glanced through the back window. It was a little difficult to look through the window because the car had tainted glasses.

She pressed her face closer to the window, almost gluing her face against the glass, and finally managed to catch a faint glimpse of a man in the back seat.

She immediately tried to open the back door of the car, but it was locked from the inside.

She looked around to see if she could find someone to help, but at this hour into the night, not even the faint shadow of a ghost was visible.

Just when she was thinking about what to do, she noticed, from the corner of her eye, fuel leaking out from under the car. Her gaze slowly followed the direction of the fuel flow. Slowly, her body froze on the spot, with her eyes widening in shock at what she was seeing.

The fuel was flowing towards a lamp post, emitting little light sparks.

Her physical state was totally the opposite of her mental state. Her brain was working at a lightning speed of 186,000 miles per second, thinking of what to do next, yet her body was frozen.

She realized the urgency of the situation. She knew she had to take action and get them out of the car, or the car might catch on fire and maybe even explode at any moment if more fuel kept leaking.

Suddenly, her bright eyes sparkled under the moonlight, like the blue ocean glistening under the dazzling sunlight. Without wasting a moment, she sprang into action.

First, she ran to the place where the fuel was leaking and took off her jacket at the speed of a ninja and placed it on top of the leaked fuel on the ground to stop it from flowing any further towards the lamp post.

After making sure that the fuel had temporarily stopped flowing further, she hurried back to the car. Since the back door was locked, she immediately moved to the front seats of the car and tried to open the co-driver's side door, but was unable to open it again. She hurriedly ran over to the driver's side of the car and tried to open that door.

Luckily, she was able to pull the driver's door open. There was a young man in the driver's seat leaning his head on the steering wheel, seemingly unconscious. She glanced at the back seat and saw only one person in it.

From a look at their appearances, she could ascertain the relationship between the two people. They both had different appearances. The older man was dressed elegantly and had the presence that of a regal king demanding attention, while the younger one was dressed not poorly, but also not as well as someone from high society would, and it seemed like some type of a uniform.

She instantly understood that the older man in the back seat should be someone from a well off family and the younger man must be his personal chauffeur.

She couldn't care less about their status in that dangerous situation. For her they both were humans and both of their lives were worth equal.

She immediately got to work.

Since she was closer to the young man, she helped him first. Time was of the essence here.

She first made the man sit up leaning against the seat, and then leaned a bit in the car and unbuckled his seatbelt.

Then she tried supporting his body by bending down to his level and wrapping his arm over her shoulder and putting her arm around his waist. She tried to get up, but due to the difference in weight and body ratio between them, she was unable to move even a centimeter for the first few tries.

On the next try, she used all of her strength to straighten up a bit, then pulled the chauffeur out of the car. Just doing that much used most of her strength, but it luckily worked.

She took a few deep breaths to regain her momentum and continued.

Supporting the driver, she started walking over to the other side of the road and into the grass. Bending down she sat him down safely, making his back lean on the tree behind for support.

She made sure to be quick but careful, not wanting to cause any unnecessary harm to the unconscious man.
