Chapter 9 - Almost

FKOTRA 9

The horses that were pulling the carriage looked clearer the more it came closer to their house. Two black horses that pulled the wagon seemed trained and expensive even from a single glance. And the carriage had neatly arranged features, made from sturdy materials and good quality.

The vehicle arrived in front of a mansion. The mansion itself was located in a strategic location, not too cramped but also not too cornered. There were walls and a big gate in the center of them, surrounding the house and the inner side area.

A man came out from the vehicle. He had an appearance of a middle aged man, with a brown mustache and beard mixed by some tinges of whiteness.

"Welcome to my humble house, Physician Emin." Enjar greeted the man with a smile.

When he heard that he mentioned the house as a humble house, he could not help but smile wryly. Not many people in this area could have this kind of luxury of having this big of a house. Sure that it's not that big of a mansion that a governor would have, but this was still an amazing house in its own way.

The gates look sturdy and tall, the walls enveloping the mansion were well built and even look menacing in some way. The ornaments which were attached to the buildings were not extravagant nor looked expensive. But the impression that one who saw it as a whole for the first time was that it could not be judged by its simplicity.

Those were just gut feelings that one could have, but somehow were enough. The firm, steady, and cool looking buildings were just somehow unique. Still, buildings were just buildings. This may be Enjar's innovation or maybe trial and error in trying to build a quite unique kind of a house.

"Greetings, Mr. Enjar." Physician Emin replied to the greeting with a wide smile. Seeing his healthy appearance, he honestly was surprised. But more than that, he was amused that Enjar had gotten better. He wanted to confirm whether this was right or not before Enjar beckoned him first.

"Let's walk inside first. We can talk better inside the house." Enjar told Physician Emin. The physician nodded his head and Enjar led him into the house by walking side by side. Soon after, they saw two women when they were inside of the house. The brown haired woman, Tara, had a polite smile on her face. While the black haired woman, Vebi, smiled in courtesy by smiling a little.

The two women sat on a couch, and soon the two oncoming men arrived in front of them. The physician sat on the opposite couch, while Enjar sat in the middle of the women.

"So it's just like what I inspected earlier, light fever right? Seeing that you look healthy and well now." Physician Emin nodded his head while plastering a smile on his face. He was proud that his analysis was on point.

"Physician Emin, I do not want to pour cold water on you, but I just want to say that your result of the inspection was wrong." A denial voice sounded out from one of the women. It was none other than Vebi, who looked proper in manner and clothings. There were no inappropriate skins or curves that were revealed on her body, wearing a long sleeve dress and long skirt. An aura of chastity and modesty could clearly be seen just from a single glance.

"Hmm? What do you mean by that, Madam?" Physician Emin clearly did not expect such a claim from the opposite party.

"Enjar almost died last night." A cold answer was said to him. Her eyes were narrowed, and a disappointed facial could be seen from her face.

"A-Almost dead? How can it be?" Physician Emin was taken aback. Her answer was like day and night if one could take a look at Enjar's condition. Almost died? He looked healthy and fine right now, even his body back then only had a light fever, how could he not be surprised?

"That's what I'm trying to say, how can you say that his sickness is just a light fever? Last night he was stone cold, I felt like I was touching an ice sculpture when I touched his body. And not only that, he was even breathless for a moment there. How do you explain this?" Vebi gave another striking answer to him. He truly did not understand.

He was known as a good physician with good knowledge and his understanding of the medical field. It also was one of the reasons why he was famous and recognized as a high standing doctor. And with his reputation, this was the reason why Enjar and his wives called him to treat his illness.

Enjar coughed a moment when he heard this. It's true that he was sick, and it's true that his sickness was unique, even he actually still did not understand it fully. And the reason why he was breathless that made the two women break into tears was because he was so shocked. He was so flabbergasted that he did not even have the time to breathe for some moments there.

How can one not be shocked? He was remembering his memories! Memories that could bring havoc in this entire world!

He could not blame the physician fully for his result of the inspection. But his stone cold body that was so contradicting from his previously light fever naturally could be questioned. That's why Vebi questioned the shocked physician, not even knowing that Enjar actually experienced something that was utterly nonsense if he did not have any evidence for his proof.

"This… Is this true? I'm sorry Madam, it's not like I'm doubting you, but how can you make me believe that? Look at Mr. Enjar right now. He looked better and healthier!" Physician Emin rebuked with a headstrong. He even thought about the possibility of scheming or some sort just from hearing what she had said.

"And this is what I'm trying to say again. True, that we don't have any evidence for that because he had gotten better than ever. True, that it's only through my husband's prestige that I'm saying this. I'm trying to say that, if only he got worse because of your false result, what would happen to us? If only he was dead last night, what would you say? If only we knew that his conditions would worsen like last night, I would have invited other doctors to examine his body. Let that sink in your mind for a moment there."

Vebi paused and took a glance at Enjar. Looking at his wife that seemed like she was asking for permission for something, Enjar nodded his head. He understood what was his wife's intention somehow without even verbalizing her thoughts.

"So I just want to say that, if you don't give us any explanation, then we will give a bad recommendation to our clients and relations." Vebi said adamantly.

Physician Emin was truly in a bind. He did not know what had transpired. His symptoms before were truly like some normal symptoms of fever. His body was just getting hotter, accompanied with some headaches. And now she said that Enjar's body suddenly worsened in a day, from warm to stone cold. How could he understand this?

He closed his eyes in contemplation.

'Mr. Enjar… What is the meaning of this? If what she said is true, is this the result of a poison? But somehow his body got cured in a day, does he have the cure? Nah, there is no need for me to think about his intrinsics, because the problem now is them asking for compensation. Did I make a blunder? I did not even realize that there was such a thing...'

He kept on pondering his thoughts. Moments had passed, and he still was in silence.

'Sigh… What should I do then? Should I just relent? This was naturally not an evidence-basic case. But he still has his influences and prestige. And why is he being silent?'

'Aren't they afraid that if they said something without any evidence to tarnish the other could bring them a bad reputation…? Nah, knowing this man, he won't. But if they do that, then I will not be on his good side. Especially if what he experienced is true.'
