Chapter 10 - Transaction

FKOTRA 10 : Transaction

Hearing what Physician Emin said, the three of them smiled. And naturally the one who had the widest smile was none other than Vebi. Because they at least could get compensated for what happened last night. It was true that in the end Enjar did not end up worse or even died, but that's what guarantee was all about.

And it was time for Enjar to continue on this matter. Tara went to the inner side of the house, and when she came back she had some tea and cups on her plate to be served on the table in the middle of the two parties when they were still talking about their business.

"I don't want money or things. Instead, I just want to know what's been going on in the Blue Moon City? I know that there must be something that transpired behind the curtain. And more than that, I know that you got some information on this. You're like a personal doctor for the city lord and his family after all." Enjar said nonchalantly.

"Sigh… I suppose I can tell you. Not that it's really a secret, it's more like they try to cover it as much as possible for as long as they can." A conceded expression could be seen from his face.

"Hmm? What do you mean? Is there some kind of a competition?" Enjar answered intriguingly.

"….As expected from you, Mr. Enjar. It is something like that. The son of the city lord is struck with an unknown disease. I can't even understand what is happening to him. The city lord is trying to search for the cure of his son. And he asked for doctors who could cure him. And just like you had probably guessed, I can't cure him." Physician Emin explained in a loss manner.

"Now that is something astonishing. When even you cannot cure him, this must be a pretty rare disease." Enjar said while grinning weirdly, one couldn't easily deduce whether this grin was a praise, or... a mocking jab.

"Ahem… Well… I can't do much about it. So that's why the city lord is trying to search for other doctors to cure his son. But just like what you had previously guessed, the timing is not that good. Inside the city, there is the Fumigal Family that should be trying to take this chance for their own profit if they had learned this information. That is, if they have learned it at all already." The physician said before taking a tea cup in front of him to drink it.

"I see, so the disease is…?" Enjar asked, not with a smile, but a glint appeared for a while in his eyes.

"I'm sorry Mr. Enjar. I can't afford to tell you that much. Even when I'm telling you this, I risk my own self for not obeying the city lord already. Well, in a sense I did not spoil his blot so I think it's fine." Physician Emin said. He exhaled a long sigh, as if he was getting enough from this 'transaction'.

"Ohh… I got it. It's okay. Somehow I can guess it already, but a guess is just a guess I guess." Enjar said while grinning, most likely from his pun, least likely from the subject of the guess itself.

Physician Emin could only smile too on Enjar's words. Taking a guess for the cure was pretty hard already, so he did not really mind telling him this much. So he put the matter back of his mind. The deal was finished, he did not even want to think whether he was scammed or not.

"Okay Physician Emin, thanks for the information that we got. But I just want to say that, last night I truly was in a state where I was breathless for a moment there. I wonder, if I did not gain something from last night after that sickening, 'memorable' experience, then maybe I would have been the next king in this country some years later or something."

Enjar raised his middle and index fingers from his hands and moved it up and down when he said 'memorable', emphasizing the minor latent pun joke that might be only him could understand in this room.

Physician Emin did not know what to say. His supposed joke of being a king was pretty hard to understand. But it was pretty funny too after he understood what Enjar most likely meant from his understanding, so he could only laugh again and took a sip of the tea cup in front of him.

'So you're saying that if you did not gain anything from your sickness, you're going to be a king in this country? Truly a nice joke hahah... It's more like you gain something by scamming me.' Physician Emin mocked inside of his heart. Who wouldn't though, if someone was in his shoes?

And seeing that Enjar confirmed himself for whatever disease that had struck him, he nodded his head to himself. Hearing it from his own mouth at least made him feel better. Physician Emin then did a check up one last time on his body and condition before he concluded that Enjar was fine already, in fact he seemed so healthy and fit that the sickness he endured before looked like a freaking joke.

"Okay, I think I have stayed in your place enough time. It is time for me to go now." The physician drank the tea until it was emptied and stood up. Enjar followed suit and stood up, escorting the physician to the door. They said some greetings and finally the physician left the house.

Enjar went back to the women and smiled.

"That was a smooth move, Vebi. What a way to get some profit when your dear husband just suffered some dangerous disease hmm?" Enjar teased while looking at her as if he was assessing her.

"Of course not, Dear. You know that I did not want to get profit. I want compensation. And we are in the right, knowing how his inspection result actually went horribly wrong. Isn't it our right to get some explanation? We truly got some explanation, but it's something else though, not that I mind if you want it." Vebi said while smiling helplessly. But deep inside, a spark of happiness aroused inside her heart.

"I see. Thanks for the thought and care. The compensation that we got will absolutely be beneficial, at least for us. I will make use of it." Enjar said calmly.

Vebi smiled, glad that she got to help her husband. And happy that he recognized her effort to do some bidding for her family.

"No, you don't have to. That information is enough, right?. Aren't you just curious?" Vebi said in a perplexed manner.

Tara herself did not say anything when Vebi tried to get the compensation they deserved. It was because being silent was gold sometimes. What if she also supported Vebi's claim? There were naturally two ends. First, it empowered Vebi's words. Second, it weakened Vebi's claim. Knowing that the risk of weakening Vebi's reasoning was there, she chose to be silent and observe. And it ended with a good deal.

And the thought of her being too lousy and such… cringed her somehow.

"Yeah she is right Big Brother, I'm afraid that if you do something, it's going to be pretty… dangerous. I don't know, I just felt it." Tara supported Vebi's concern. She somehow got nervous when Enjar was mentioning his latent plan to somehow meddle in the supposed city lord's business.

"Then let me ask you this question. Do you believe that everything has a price? Do you believe that great things come with great prices?" Enjar asked while looking at the two candidly.

"No, I don't believe that. What about the miner who works in a hazardous environment, but paid less than the higher ups of the mining project? Isn't that contradicting with your saying?" Vebi answered with a smile.

"…That's such a good punch there, but that's not my point." Enjar was perplexed. Explaining that the higher the position then the higher the competition for it, or explaining that the higher ups naturally have their own value would need a longer explanation whether it's for a specific field or for the general idea, and either the pros and the cons.

"If you want to achieve something great, you naturally need to do something as big as that goal. And naturally, just because you work hard or you work the hardest doesn't mean that you will get the big prize, while you can't get a big prize if you paid for something small too. Of course, this is all just a general idea. Like, if you get a big prize from a very very lucky gambling that cost just a little- Wait, that's not even important…"

The three just exchanged ramblings with a laugh here and there. But the end was still in Enjar's favor. He would do what he had planned. It seemed as if his ambition knew no bounds if one could take a look at his mind and heart, his thirst to get what he wanted to achieve spared no effort, and the fire inside his determination would not die till he was the one who died.
