An overbearing silence then enveloped the room after the awkward exchange. Even the doctor and attending female nurse were taken aback by the patient's apathetic question. Even the unknown man was dumbfounded with it. It is quite obvious that it was not the expected reaction that the unknown man expected.
With wide eyes and pulled brows, the man then stared at Andrea with a puzzled look on his face, "W-what? Andrea, what are you talking about? It's me, Blaze."
The man, who introduced himself as Blaze, then responded while stuttering as he gripped tighter on Andrea's left hand. Andrea can feel his hands starting to tremble even more after saying his response.
With that, Andrea's eyes shifted to his big and rough hands wrapping her small one's. Andrea doesn't like physical touch especially with those people she's not close with and even worse, strangers. But for some unknown reason, she doesn't seem to feel repulsed with this man— and that made her even more alert of him.
Andrea instantly withdrew her hand from his tight grasp.
"Blaze? I think you are mistaken, sir. I have never seen you before let alone knew a person named Blaze." Andrea then stiffly answered with a cautious tone of voice while maintaining her calm expression.
Upon hearing those, Blaze was even more stunned. He then started to straighten his back while staring at Andrea like she was an alien in disguise.
"Excuse me, Mr. Albrecht."
An older male doctor with glasses then stepped in the scene as she went forward between the two. Because of that, their attention has been diverted to the head doctor.
"I apologize but I need to examine Miss Harrington first. Please step outside so that the patient won't be stressed from being overwhelmed." The doctor continued as he stared at Blaze with a serious look.
Upon hearing that, Blaze turned his body facing the doctor with a confused expression on his face. He then got off from the bed and approached the doctor, "Doctor! Just what is happening here? Why can't she remember me? Is it because of her head injury?" He asked with distress in his voice but there was also a hint of vexation in his tone.
Hearing his quick questions, the male doctor then tapped Blaze on his back as he led him to the door.
"Mr. Albrecht, let us talk outside."
The male doctor ushered Blaze out of the room. Though hesitating to leave Andrea alone when she just woke up, Blaze followed the doctor.
As soon as the two left the room, leaving Andrea and the attending nurse alone, the male doctor then started to explain his conclusion with the current situation. "I'm afraid that Miss Harrington is experiencing retrograde amnesia. And yes, I'm certain that it is due to her head injury. Let's just hope that she will slowly regain her memories." he said with all seriousness.
Upon hearing those words from the doctor's mouth, Blaze's face became dark as he hung his head slightly down. His face was quite unexplainable as a few seconds passed before he asked another question that made the doctor perplexed.
"Then…Is there any possibility that she won't recover her past memories?" With a blank expression and monotonous tone of voice.
Hearing that particular question, the doctor heaved a sigh knowing that he saw this question coming, "Yes, there is a big possibility for that to happen," He answered back with calmness, still maintaining his professional demeanor.
With that being said, Blaze became quiet once again but this time his expression changed into something strange. Even the male doctor noticed it.
"That's good…" Blaze then muttered under his breath as a slight smirk pulled on the corner of his lips.
—----
Since it was late midnight, the hospital halls have been fairly quiet unlike midday. Maybe it was because visiting hours are over and most patients are resting.
Andrea, on the other hand, was still sitting on the bed while spacing out. Instead of sleeping like the other patients, Andrea was determined to be stubborn as she tried her best to remember a thing— even just her full name. But Andrea has been spacing out for almost four hours and she can't remember a thing. It's like she finds herself like a stranger.
"Aish! Can someone just explain to me what the heck is happening with me!?" Andrea then grunted as she pulled the roots on her head.
Andrea can only ruffle her long brown hair in frustration as she falls back on the bed. With her back on the glass window, Andrea was back on her lost thoughts as she contemplated what to do next with her life without knowing anything.
Good thing for her, it looked like her eyes couldn't bear being awake any longer. As she was about to fall asleep due to overthinking, suddenly, there was a passing shadow on the curtain's which made Andrea freeze in place. She immediately sat up and looked back on the window. And none to her surprise, there was no one there.
'Of course no one would be there, we're on the fourth floor. How can someone be outside of the window?'
Andrea thought to herself as she scanned the entirety of the window. With the thin white curtain covering the window, she could definitely see if someone would pass by.
Seeing that it was quiet and serene outside, Andre can only laugh at herself as said with weariness, 'Hah, stop scaring yourself. It's just a bird"
As she was about to go back to her sleep, a sudden familiar voice then resonated in the room.
"Greetings and Salutations!"
With that, Andrea froze again as she, once again, shot up and looked back at the owner of the voice.
'Fucking let me sleep!'
