Once Kai got to the entrance to the Blue District, he nodded to both guards. Walking through, Kai immediately looked for a building with a blue emblem with an axe on it.
The sun was starting to set, and soon night would hit. Kai wanted to find the building before nightfall.
After he found the building, he would will wait until night to attack. Hoping to catch at least a few people off guard.
There were only a few usable buildings left standing, so it wouldn't take long. The only bad thing was Kai stood out, like a tree in a flower garden.
Kai already suspected people were talking about him and telling their gangs. After all, who would waste an opportunity to get riches?
With Kai's appearance, many would think he had many good items on him.
After all, if you kill someone with items in their inventory, they get sent to yours. And Kai was a cash cow. Many people would take a shot at him once night hit.
Attacking in daylight would draw unwanted attention from other gangs.
Walking through the broken streets, Kai finally found the place he was looking for.
It was a tall brick building with only a few cracks here and there.
After walking around and inspecting the place, Kai noted there were ten guards in total. Four in the front and two on the other sides.
The highest level guard was level 8, while the others were level 4. Each guard had a dull knife, while the level 8 guard had an axe.
If Kai wanted to test his new abilities, he would need to kill the small guys first. Once he started fighting the gang leader, the others would certainly run. They might even inform the other gangs.
Kai wasn't sure if more tier 1's were around. It would be best to avoid that possibility.
While watching the building, Kai saw many people come and go. The people leaving didn't head toward the Green District entrance; it made Kai quite curious about where they were going. Despite his curiosity, he couldn't leave his spot.
It was best to scout the enemies before attacking. If he had left, he might have missed out on something big.
--
Night had finally hit. The people that left had long come back.
Kai's plan was to kill the guards on the other three sides before coming to the front entrance.
With his black cloak on, it seemed as if Kai had disappeared into the night.
The gang's building had small touches that only lit up about five feet in front of them.
Approaching the backside first, Kai made sure to make as little sound as possible. Despite the light from the torches, Kai could get six feet in front of a guard before they would see him.
Using his speed, Kai jumped at the first guard snapping his neck. Kai caught his body and quietly placed him on the ground before disappearing into the night.
The guard on the other corner didn't even see Kai. The guard wasn't even paying attention to his fellow guard, instead was focusing on his side while catching a glimpse of movement. Before the guard could move or even say anything, a hand grabbed his neck, ending his life.
Putting the second guard on the ground, Kai repeated this process twice before going to the entrance.
Although Kai had never killed a person before today, he didn't feel anything toward those he killed. Just like the things he killed in the dungeon, just like him, they were all monsters. Who would feel sad about killing a monster?
There were two guards at the doors and one on each corner. Kai knew he couldn't kill them all instantly. The best he could do was kill three.
Kai started with the left corner guard. Walking out of the darkness, Kai quickly snapped his neck before disappearing back into the night.
Before the body hit the floor, Kai was almost at the guard on the right corner.
~Thud~
All three guards turned their heads to see their fellow guards on the ground.
"Hey, Matt, what happened?" One of the guards next to the doors asked.
Not getting an answer, he asked again, "Hey Matt!"
~Thud~
The two door guards turn to the left to see another guard drop to the ground.
"Hajeer, what are you and Matt playing at?" The other guard asked.
While looking at their fallen friends, they heard a voice in front of them, "Trust me, they're not playing. How about you ask them."
~Sling~
Kai quickly slashed at both the guards. After killing the guards, Kai quietly entered the building.
'There were a lot slower than I thought.'
Walking into the building, Kai saw many beds along the walls, with a set of stairs head up.
'Luckily, none of them woke up,' he thought.
Going from bed to bed, Kai quickly helped them move on to a better place. He even managed to obtain many trashy knives and an axe from the guard outside.
Heading up the stairs, Kai was greeted by a middle age man staring down at him.
The man was bald, wearing leather clothes, and equipped with a giant axe in his hand.
"Who are you?" The man asked.
Looking at him, Kai didn't answer. It would be best to catch the other party off guard.
"{Inspect}."
{Keif}
{Tier 1: Level 15}
'Woah, he's 14 levels higher than me, and I don't know what kind of class he has." Kai thought.
Kai was already there. It was too late to turn around, especially with what he had done.
"[Death's Embrace]"
With those words, Keif's back stiffened.
Feeling his strength drain, he frowned, "What the hell did ya do to me?"
Kai only smiled in reply.
Now with both their stats equal, Kai had a good feeling this wouldn't take long.
"[Shapeshift]"
White mist covered Kai's body, and a few seconds later, a beast walked out of it.
Looking at the beast right in front of him, Keif's expression worsen, "What in the hell are ya?"
Taking a step back, Keif knew whatever this thing was, it was here for his life. Despite the initial shock, Keif still had his pride. Gripping his axe, his knuckles turned white.
"Do you think you can barge into my home and threaten me?"
Kai laughed in reply, "Threaten? No. You will die tonight."
Imbuing his Will power into his claws, Kai used [Slash]. A white horizontal line appeared where he slashed at, going extremely fast toward the target.
Seeing the white line coming at him, Keif raised his axe, imbuing it with his own Will power.
~Boom~
Both forces collided. Kai's attack was slightly stronger. After breaking Keif's attack, with the remaining power it flew at him.
~Sling~
Kai's attack managed to cut Keif's arm, leaving a 5-inch cut along his right arm.
Keith's eyes widened in shock, 'How could my attack lose?'
Fear crept into his heart, looking back at the beast in front of him.
Seeing his opponent in a daze, Kai took this opportunity to attack. Imbuing more Will power into his claws, Kai launched at Keif, pounding him to the ground.
With Kai now on top of him, [Slash]. Piercing Keif's chest.
Bringing his arm out of Keif's chest, Kai stood up, looking down at him.
"Pathetic!" Kai sneered.
Soon he would die; Keif knew that. He didn't know why this strange beast attacked him. He at least wanted to know why he was killed.
"W-why?" Kief asked softly.
"Because of some people in your gang. They said you would come to kill me if I killed them. Haha, so I came to you. It doesn't matter anymore; no one in this city can stop me." Kai told him the trust.
" I s-see, well they w-were right. I woulda c-came f-for ya. Haaa. But you're wrong, haaa. In the p-Purple nd Y-Yellow District. There a-are people at tier 2 and tier 3." Keif said, while taking deep breaths.
This shocked Kai; if there were tier 2's and tier 3's in Nightmare City, then he could stay here much longer. His [Death's Embrace] doesn't work on those who are a tier higher. Kai wouldn't have a way to run or beat them.
"T-there's a rumor that a relic caused all this. It's the reason people are -c-crazy here; it's the reason everyone is smiling. Haaa" After keif's last message, his chest fell flat, and the sound of him breathing was long. He died.
"A relic, I can't say I heard of that before. If that is the cause of all this, then it seems like something is going on in the other two districts. Once I get stronger, I should take a look. I might even be able to get a hold of the relic."
After thinking about what he had just learned, Kai had a new goal in mind. Once he hit tier 3, he would return to Nightmare City and set everyone free. But before then, Kai was going to leave and possibly find a more normal city to get information.
Who knows, he might even find another dungeon to challenge.
"Haha, maybe I should clean up the blue district first," Grinning, Kai set off from building to building, purging the sinful lands.
Screams of terror could be heard throughout the Blue District.
"Monster!"
"Demon!"
"Help"
Their screams fueled Kai's hunt.
Once daybreak hit, Kai finished taking out the trash. Heading to the exit of the Blue District, which was also the exit of the Nightmare city.
A new journey was about to begin.
