After his bath, Kai checked the time.
{5:30}
"Mmhmm, I should get going."
Stretching, Kai decided now would be a good time to go.
He wouldn't be too early, nor would he be late. Kai had no intention of observing people or talking to anyone, so there was no point in being too early.
Leaving the inn, Kai noticed the attendant was still looking down, 'Odd.' Kai thought.
Entering the Adventurer Guild, Kai saw many groups talking and hanging around the entire Guild. Some were sitting, chatting, or eating. While others were at the bar, drinking. There was also a large group of people on the left side of the Guild; there were tons of paper pinned to the wall over there.
Unsure of where to go, Kai sat near the entrance and waited. Surely someone would announce the start of the beginner's course. Closing his eyes, Kai cleared his mind.
After a while, Kai opened his eyes.
{6:00}
Seeing the time was 6, Kai got up, looking for where the beginner's course was.
Before he could go far, Kai heard a voice, "Beginners course, Over here!"
The voice belonged to an older gentleman, he had a steel chest piece and black pants made from a metal Kai had never seen before. He had a scar across his arms and a long scar from his right eye to his neck.
'Could it be boss armor?' Kai thought, looking at the old adventurer's pants.
Walking toward that group that surrounded the old adventurer, Kai had counted ten others, excluding the one who called them over and himself.
After waiting a few minutes for anyone coming late, the old adventurer spoke to the group, "Come with me. We'll begin the introduction behind the guild." He had a deep, commanding voice.
Kai waited for the others to start following before going himself. It was best to be in the back. This way, Kai could watch everything going on, especially the people in his group.
In the group of ten, five of them were elves, while two had cat ears and tails. The remaining three were human.
All the members were equipped with some type of leather armor. Two of the elves even had belts with holsters; both of them had two daggers.
The owners of the daggers both had long, silver hair. The girl had blue eyes, while the boy had green eyes. Presumably twins, they looked to be around 13 years of age.
The others didn't seem to have any weapons.
After walking through the back doors, the instructor led the small group into an open field. To the side of the field were target dummies'.
"Today will only be an introduction; tomorrow, we will have combat practice, so be prepared for that. To start, I'll go over what it means to be an adventurer."
The instructor continued ensuring he had everyone's attention, "An adventurer's primary purpose is to explore the dungeons. We, as adventurers, explore the unknown. We fight death every day! Secondly, we fight for the safety of our home. If there ever was a war, we are expected to help out any way we can!"
'Oh, I get it. The golden emblem, fighting for our 'home' -' Before Kai could continue thinking, the instructor's words confirmed everything.
"Without the Royal Family, we, the Adventurers Guild, wouldn't exist. Without the Royal Family, our peaceful cities wouldn't exist, chaos would run rampant, we owe the Royal Family our help."
'Peaceful!? Where is the Royal Family now? Surely not helping my city.'
Every word about the Royal Family made Kai more intrigued and angry. If the Royal Family was so amazing, how come they didn't help Nightmare City? Why didn't they help the citizens of Nightmare City?
'Something doesn't make sense. Everyone should be aware of Nightmare City's current state, right? Is the old adventurer instructed to avoid it, is someone pulling his strings?' The more Kai thought about it, the more confusing the situation became.
None of the other group members reacted, 'Almost like they've heard this before.' No matter how much Kai thought about it, he would need to ask some questions to know what was happening.
Then again, asking questions might bring suspicion to himself. It would be better to wait for the answers to come to him.
"I'll now go over the basics of dungeons and Obelisk; there are 4 Obelisk that we know of. One of them is the White Obelisk in our home, the Baraska continent. The Blue Obelisk is in the Wyondi continent, while the Green Obelisk is in the Forestina continent. The last Obelisk, the Red Obelisk, is on the Beast Continent."
'So there's four known; I wonder how many there truly are.' Kai thought.
"Each Obelisk has a dungeon; from what we have gathered, the Obelisk represents a tier. Blue Obelisk is tier 1; Green is tier 2. While White and Red are unknown for now."
'Unknown? If it represented anything, then it would be tier 0 for beginners. After all, it was a perfect place to farm at level 1.' Since the dungeon was so easy compared to what was to come, Kai didn't understand how they 'didn't know' it was tier 0.
"Now dungeons can be tricky; firstly, dungeons can be anywhere. I've seen dungeons in the mountains and even where a house used to be. You can't access every dungeon, only those at your current level. So if a dungeon had a restriction of tier 0 level 1-10, no one higher than that could enter. The same goes for if you're under level."
Even if Kai wanted to return to the dungeon in Nightmare City, he wouldn't be allowed to enter.
This information caused a few people to be surprised. The twin elves didn't seem surprised in the slightest.
'It seems those two aren't new to dungeons or at least the information around them. Maybe their parents are adventurers.' Kai thought after watching them.
"Even outside dungeons, monsters can be born, so while traveling, never let your guard down. A good tip is if you can't check its level, run. If anything is more than 30 levels higher than you, you won't be able to check its level. Of course, some relics can block people from checking your level, though it's extremely rare."
'So relics have special powers. A relic that can block your information from being seen sounds like a dream right now. I wonder what kind of relic is in Nightmare City if there even is one.'
If Kai could get his hands on a relic, even if he didn't need it. He could sell and buy something useful.
"Lastly, from time to time, someone will request help with something. These quests will be posted on a wall inside the Guild for all to see. Some quests will have specific requirements; for example, if a quest involves dungeons, then a group must be formed to complete it. Or if the Guild deems it dangerous, only those at a certain level would be allowed to take it."
'Unless I can make a lot of money fast, I won't do any quest.' It would be a waste of time, is what Kai thought.
Although Kai didn't find this information very useful, it got some of the members talking; even the twin elves shared a few words, sadly, Kai wasn't able to hear them.
One of the human girls raised her hand. She had short red hair and green eyes, flawless skin.
'She doesn't seem to have done much physical labor.' Kai noted.,
"Excuse me but could we make parties and take on a quest together, even if it isn't required?"
'..'
Even the instructor was slightly stunned, "Yes, actually, there are many parties in the Guild who take on normal quests. Some wish to become the strongest group in the Guild, while others like safety in numbers. It's up for you to decide."
Nodding, the human girl smiled. Turning, she talked to another human girl beside her.
'I can already guess what they're talking about.'
"I know it wasn't too exciting, but this information will be useful. Now meet back here tomorrow for the next class."
With that, the instructor left, walking back to the Guild.
After a few seconds, our group broke into smaller groups, discussing forming a party and becoming the best adventurers. Kai didn't want to hear their dreams, so he quickly retreated to the guild.
After making his way inside, Kai went to the wall with posted papers on it. Reading one of them, Kai understood how this system worked.
(Fire Cat)
(A Fire Cat is terrorizing the citizens of Tuloc. Extremely dangerous, the Fire Cat can breathe fire and use the skill [Flame Claw]. It has set up a den on the south side of the town, warning! The Fire Cat is territorial.)
(Requirement- A Group of five or more tier 1's. Or One tier 2)
(Reward- 10 Gold)
'To be allowed to accept this quest, I would need to find at least 4 other tier 1's. But if I was a tier 2, I could do this quest solo. Now this reward, is 10 gold a lot? I really need to understand money and fast.'
Shaking his head, Kai headed back to the inn. Along the way, Kai walked through the venues, buying food to eat along the way.
Arriving at the inn, Kai checked the time and was shocked to see it was so late.
{9:23}
Getting into bed, Kai had many things planned for tomorrow. He wanted to take some things slow, at least for a while, once Kai finds out the location of the nearest dungeon he can use. He'll leave this city, but until then, why not enjoy it a little?
