Selene wanted to get her sword dipped in silver or get a silver sword from the silversmith so she can use it in war. The werewolves can only be killed by a silver weapon. Silver was injurious to werewolves. Even if they are slightly touched by piece of silver, their skin will burn. And if they are beheaded by a silver sword or a weapon dipped in silver then only, they can be killed.
