Chereads / The Immortal Duan Cai / Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

Lester stormed out of his sect and walked right into an alley along the street out of the sight of everyone else on the street. His blood was boiling with rage as he grit his teeth and punched the wall to his side. He was born and raised to become the heir to the Yang Sect and his cultivation was even considered to be great compared to the others in his sect, but when it came to respect it was something that he was not easily given. He was aware of how low other people looked at him and just remained silent to it all. Inside he only had the urge to one day prove himself to everyone that he was not just a joke to be scoffed at. It was hard for him to even gather information about things he wanted to know.

"Damn them all.." Lester's eyes flared with a mixture of emotions that felt like his insides were being torn apart. After just dealing with all the elders in his sect he had to urge to go back there and snap at every one of them, but he knew he had to suppress the urge down to the pit of his stomach if he wanted to raise himself further and one day show them he could do things his own way.

"There you are, brother!" A deep voice that shouted causing Lester's blood to run cold.

"Loris, why did you follow me out here?" Lester sighed heavily at the thought.

He knew his brother did not really care about how he was treated in the sect. Even though Lester was the one intended to replace the patriarch in the future it was only something that added more reason for Loris to find joy in how the elders all looked down on Lester. Loris was one who was full of emotions of jealousy over his brother's position and could only find reasons to fault him for having such a stance in the sect. Loris did not want his brother dead; he simply wanted him removed and to hand over the position. He felt Lester was simply an incompetent fool that deserved none of it.

"You ran around the past few weeks doing nothing but gathering Intel on that new comer and today you even flipped out trying to convince the sect to step in on matters that do not involve us. Did you find it pleasing to get yelled at by the elders again? You're making a joke out of our family by acting like such a fool." Loris scoffed at the thought of helping Duan Cai with the Kaen sect. His hand ran slowly threw his shoulder length, blond, hair as his cold blue eyes glared at Lester with a look of pity. He was wearing a white suit that was trimmed with navy blue to match his eyes.

"Yang Sect could easily handle the the Kaen sect with Dragon Syndicate if we just stepped up and did something! There is nothing wrong with me wanting to help them! With what they have been doing at least someone is working to help clean up the city." Lester choked back his emotions that threatened to cause him to jump at Loris with rage.

"Don't make me laugh! You make it all sound some pure and innocent, but with your obsession are you so sure it is not just more personal to you than that?!" Loris yelled as he grabbed Lester by his collar and pulled him forward mid yell.

After pausing for a moment while they both glared at each other. Loris with disgust in his eyes while Lester's carried a more determined look to stand by his actions. Lester had faith in Duan Cai's sect for the future of the city. It did not matter to him if everyone stood against him right now because he felt one day they would come to see him differently. The world would come to see the Dragon Syndicate in a better light regardless of what they believed at the moment. He had already seen their sect take over and put an end to many dangerous gangs in the city that once tormented the streets from behind the scenes.

"They may seem weak now but that does not mean they are insignificant. At the end of the day they are doing more for this city then you, me, and every other man out there. I stand by my judgement. You will one day see that my opinion mattered when you and those old fools failed to believe what was already in front of you from the start.. You all play at being friendly because you fear them, but we are suppose to be a sect that stands for the light. Where is that light when it's needed most?"

"You're such a fool, brother." Loris said as he shoved his brother back away from him causing him to stumble slightly.

As Lester stumbled and his emotions felt heavy he slowly allowed himself to sink down to the ground. Sitting there in the alley with his back against the wall as he gazed up at his brother. He could see clearly that his brother was looking at him in a very low way. It was like Loris was looking down at a pile of trash that had been thrown in the alley. Regardless of what might be running through his brother's mind he could only smile as he found it funny. He could feel it in his heart that one day Duan Cai would prove his words true. They would all regret looking down on him like a joke for believing in a sect that had appeared out of nowhere nearly overnight a few months ago.

Lester felt like he had already seen that light of change that night that Duan Cai had saved his life. When he had been left alone to die in an alley because he had tried to stand up for someone else that was in trouble he had been wounded badly and left to bleed out in the cold that night. The thought of that night was something that he kept close to his heart. It was true that Lester held some emotions towards Duan Cai, but that did not mean his opinion was biased. That night he had seen just a small portion of Duan Cai's ability to change things when he used his own cultivation aura to heal a near dead man when Lester at the time had felt his death was inevitable. It was like an angel had fallen to rescue him from a fate he had truly given up on changing at the time.

Due to Duan Cai saving him at the moment Lester had sworn to himself that he would change his own fate for the better. He would find a way to make others change their view of him and he could be someone they all looked up to in the future. Loyalty to Duan Cai and their sect was something that he held close to his heart. He would no longer care what others said no matter how badly he hated them for what they would say and do to try and push him off as a joke to the Yang sect. His determination was something that had grown to a more firm stance since meeting Duan Cai.
