Chapter 8 - Chapter 7

"Sssskkk" "click"

The sound of Juniper's sword being put away could be heard. His cold gaze admiring the fresh corpse in front of him as he smiled slightly. His eyes were unique as the coloration in his red eyes formed a cross shape. Fresh blood filled the air and wafted through the air heavily. He was wearing a white kimono that was now stained red from the amount of blood that had been shed in battle. As he raised his hand in front of his face he took in the sunlight illuminating the blood covering his hand as a red light flared around his arm like fire. His hair was long to the point it nearly reached his hips in length and was a blood red in color.

"ting ting ting ting"

The sound of his phone ringing nearly started Juniper as he snarled up his lip and pulled it out to see who it was. He was a proud warrior from the Kaen Sect and hated when he was interrupted during his tasks and fights. It was not very often that he could admire a fresh kill without someone or something bothering him near by so he had wanted to take in the moment a bit longer. As a sage level cultivator not many could do anything against Juniper. If he wanted to kill someone at sage level even the law of the city itself would not dare to stand against him that easily because only another sage or higher ranking would have the power to stand against him to put a stop to it, but as a member of the Kaen Sect he had to abide by the rules set by his own Patriarch that was higher rank than himself.

"What is it?" Juniper asked with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

"Got a new job for you, Juniper." A voice on the other end of the phone responded back bluntly.

"The Patriarch knows I don't like doing minuscule tasks so it better be good. If it's something stupid I swear I will burn down the damn elder's house this time personally." Juniper's eyes flared with a flaming red light.

"Hey! Leave my house out of this! Anyways, you trigger happy fool, I am quite sure you'll enjoy your job this time." The voice was shaking at the beginning, but quickly shifted to a tone that sounded excited.

"So what is it this time? Who pissed off the Patriarch enough to pull me in personally this time?"

"The Royal Dragon of the Dragon Syndicate Sect." The voice stated simply

"Well, well... It's only been a few months since that name started circulating and I've been rather curious myself about this so called new comer." Juniper shook with excitement as a dark shadow cast over his face and he smiled so deeply that he bared his teeth with a tight grin.

After hearing the name of his next target Juniper hung up the phone without responding back to the man. It wasn't a matter of rejecting the task that was given to him for him to hang up; he just really hated talking on the phone and didn't care enough about others to tell them he was hanging up. Once he got the news of what the other person wanted he would constantly hang up on people. As he stood there he could sense someone near him and glared over towards a tree.

"Looks like I missed someone?" His eyes flared with fire again.

The person shook with fear and turned to run only to find Juniper had some how managed to appear in front of his face causing the man to scream out in shock. Juniper was still smiling with excitement from his task he had just been given and the smile was adding to the fear for the man as Juniper's hand was lit with a blazing red aura as he reached out and grabbed his throat firmly. His grip slowly lifted the man off the ground causing his legs to dangle as he grasped for air to breath.

"Which beast would you bet your life on?" A curious Juniper asked.

"Wh-What?" The man struggled to respond as he tried his best to keep from suffocating to death.

"A dragon or a phoenix? Which one do you think would win in a fight?" Juniper's cold eyes glared into the man's with a hungry look of curiosity that could make any man's blood run cold in fear.

"I.. I dont know! Spare me.. please!" The man pleaded for his life.

"Mn." The sound Juniper made for a split second caused the man's eyes to tear up as he threw the man to the ground.

Scattering to his feet the man went to run away as Juniper's fiery gaze glared at the man from behind.

"Tap""Tap""Tap""Tap""

Juniper's foot repeatedly tapped against the forest floor as he watched the man run for his life. The smile on his face never faded away and the second his foot tapped for the fifth time his body lunged forward. It looked like he had vanished in thin air as he reappeared behind the man running just a few steps behind him like a predator stalking it's prey. He felt like he could smell the fear coming from the man as he realized he was being followed closely from behind. It was a scent that he had grown use to and enjoyed when he hunted people down.

Juniper's whole body slowly enveloped in a red, blazing, aura as he slowly raised his arm and made a fist. A pulsing power started to beat in the air from his fist as he prepared it. Terror was in the man's eyes as he felt like he could sense death on his heels. The fist was quick, powerful, and sent a sonic boom threw the air as a red light burst forth from his fist when he punched the air. It sent the red light straight through the man's back and out of his chest, causing the man to pause where they were running before slowly collapsing to the ground.

The man had fallen to the might of the underworld's Phoenix, Juniper.
