Evan and Alphaeus were standing completely still, swords drawn and at the ready. Evan had started to sweat under the intense pressure of the situation, "Nervous are we?" Alphaeus chuckled, "Not surprising."
In a flash, Evan plunged his hand into the ground causing a wave of swords to rise out of the ground towards Alphaeus.
Alphaeus jumped to dodge the attack. Evan rushed towards Alphaeus while he was in the air. Evan slashed Excalibur with all his might but Alphaeus easily parried the attack with his sword.
Alphaeus skillfully landed on the ground. "Is that all you've got boy?" He asked, mockingly. Alphaeus then lunged towards Evan, slashing him in the chest.
Evan was knocked back but didn't appear to be hurt.
Alphaeus redoubled his assault, continuing to slash at Evan. Evan ducked and weaved, blocking any attacks that came to close.
Alphaeus then knocked Evan up with the handle of his sword and kicked him in the chest.
Evan slid along the ground, coming to a stop beside Isaiah. "Are you done with that yet?" Evan asked. "No," Isaiah replied, "The circuitry is extremely complex and fragile, I need more time."
Evan turned back to Alphaeus just to catch a fist to his face. Evan was sent flying, landing on his back several yards away.
"We weren't finished yet," Alphaeus said with a toothy grin. Evan lifted the swords that were pointing out of the ground and launched them at Alphaeus. Alphaeus dodged them with apparent ease.
Evan then lunged towards Alphaeus, swinging Excalibur towards him. The blade of the greatsword missed.
However, when the blade touched the ground, a massive shockwave of swords was sent in all directions forcing Alphaeus to jump.
Evan jumped at Alphaeus, still trying to hit him. Alphaeus blocked Evan's strikes with his sword until the two blades struck each other so hard that both were sent flying from each other.
When they landed on the ground, Evan raised his hand causing spikes to erupt beneath Alphaeus's feet. Once again, Alphaeus jumped out of the way.
Once he landed, Alphaeus lunged at Evan trying to hit him in his blind spot. Evan raised swords out of his own arm that blocked the blow and cut Alphaeus's hand. Alphaeus jumped back and inspected the damage.
"Clever," Alphaeus said, smiling. "So I'm not just stronger than you, I'm smarter too," Evan said, taking pleasure in this tiny victory.
"Let's test that theory, shall we," Alphaeus replied with an eerie grin. Alphaeus seemingly teleported the distance between him and Evan catching Evan off guard.
Alphaeus slashed Evan, sending him flying. Alphaeus then blinked to Evan's location again, slashing and knocking him away.
Alphaeus did this again and again until Evan finally regained his bearings.
Evan blocked the next strike with his sword. Evan landed on the ground panting. Alphaeus blinked again, but this time Evan was ready.
Evan raised his sword to block, but the impact sent Excalibur flying. Alphaeus caught Excalibur and raised it to Evan's throat. "Looks like I win, and you die," Alphaeus sneered.
Evan saw no way out of this situation. Then, over Alphaeus's shoulder, Evan saw someone move. Two swords flew towards Alphaeus, cutting him on the cheek and hand.
Alphaeus dropped Excalibur and jumped away. Evan picked up Excalibur and dusted off the blade. A person walked up beside him.
"Thanks, Miles," Evan said, "Took you long enough." Miles stood beside Evan, wielding a pink version of Excalibur.
Miles turned to Evan and said, "Evan he can speed up time around him."
Alphaeus smiled and said, "So you figured out my secret. Good job. It won't help regardless." Evan and Miles both tensed their muscles, prepared for a fight. Alphaeus lunged, unleashing a flurry of attacks at the both of them.
Evan blocked, taking most of the blows while Miles flanked him from behind.
Alphaeus split his sword in two so that he could block strikes from both sides. Both Evan and Miles jumped back.
Evan sent a wave of swords from below, which Alphaeus dodged effortlessly. When he landed Miles made a ring of swords around him trapping him.
Evan and Miles then jumped into the air and met over Alphaeus. "Storm of blades!" they yelled, sending down hundreds of swords to Alphaeus's location. Alphaeus prepared himself and began to slice through every sword before they could hit him.
The pieces crashed to the ground as Alphaeus stood up straight, panting. "Two of you and you still can't beat me, how pathetic," Alphaeus mocked, breathless.
Alphaeus then blinked towards the two and slashed. Miles and Evan were able to block his attack. Alphaeus continued to blink around them, hitting them with attacks from every direction.
Evan has knocked back away from Miles while Miles was being slashed by Alphaeus's blades. Miles dropped to his knees, deep lacerations covering his face and arms. Alphaeus jumped into the air to deal the final blow but was stopped.
Alphaeus hung by his two blades, suspended in the air. He looked around and saw Evan, who had his hand up. Evan was controlling the swords like he did any other.
Alphaeus dropped to the ground without his swords. Miles seized the opportunity to touch Alphaeus, granting him the use of Alphaeus's powers.
Miles then attacked. Alphaeus tried to dodge using his time manipulation skills but Miles was able to match his speed.
Miles pummeled Alphaeus and knocked him underneath his swords. Evan then sent the swords directly into Alphaeus's shoulders pinning him to the ground.
Alphaeus was shocked and couldn't move his arms for the risk of slicing them off. Miles and Evan stood over Alphaeus with their swords pointed at his throat. "We defeated him, so why hasn't time restarted?" Evan asked, frustrated.
His train of thought was interrupted by Isaiah yelling, "I've got it!" Isaiah had finally disabled the pillar. Isaiah stood up and ran over to Evan and Miles.
"I finally disabled the pillar," he announced triumphantly. Evan and Miles looked at each other but said nothing. "You can restart time now Evan," Isaiah continued.
"That's the thing, I can't," Evan said, frustrated. "Why not," Isaiah asked. "He did something," Evan replied, kicking Alphaeus. Alphaeus laughed. "What's so funny?" Evan asked, kicking him again.
"You ignorant fools are in trouble now," Alphaeus says with a maniacal grin on his face. Out of nowhere, something hit the ground at a high speed. The resulting explosion threw Evan, Miles, and Isaiah back and onto the ground.
Out of the crater, a woman wearing a purple cloak rose. Miles, Isaiah, and Evan were all on guard as she finished getting up.
The woman surveyed the surroundings before finally setting her gaze on them. "Alphaeus, you were defeated by them?" She asked Alphaeus a hint of laughter in her voice.
"I didn't expect the little kid to take control of my swords like that," Alphaeus replied, glaring at Evan. "Why don't we fix that right now then?" She said. With those words, her arms began to turn from solid to liquid.
The liquid enveloped the sword until it was completely covered in it. The liquid retracted leaving a purplish tint to the sword. She then turned back to the three boys. "Lord Beezlebub grows tired of your meddling," she said.
Her arms began to slink into liquid form taking the shape of axes. "As a gift to him I shall end your lives," she said. She smiled before lunging at the boys swinging her axes viciously.
