"So, also good on dealing with those three, better to not dirty your hands any more than you have to on filth like that. They will be sent down below for that and rot for an eternity thinking of the mistakes they have made. The world is a better place without them," Gaston told me, and I nodded.
"In my first life, I ignored the fact that there were such monsters in the world besides the normal ones. This was definitely an eye-opening experience. Not that I hadn't heard of such things, but now I am aware of how I truly feel about the matter," I said, and Gaston nodded.
"Good, Good. So, what do you think of my blessing and class? Pretty interesting, right?" Gaston asked, raising his eyebrows at me.
"Maybe if I was a pervert like you, but it does worry me. I am concerned that it is affecting the girls, which is not something I want. I would sooner earn their trust and enjoy them naturally. This stat worries me," I explained, but Gaston came over and sat down on the couch beside me, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"That, my boy, is why you have it! You have a mind that is sculpted around your mission, as much as it frustrated me the first time. This time, your job is to protect and guide, and you can do neither if everyone is falling over you and giving themselves to you against their will. People will naturally gravitate towards you because of your Charisma, but the true power comes only when you focus on it," Gaston explained.
"I see. Thank you for explaining that. It was something that was bothering me quite a bit," I said, and Gaston smiled, patting my shoulder.
"It's good that it bothers you. I would be worried if it didn't! Now, there is one more thing we need to talk about," Gaston said, and I knew what he was talking about because he was looking at Jessel, who suddenly got red-faced.
"Targovia is already dead; he just doesn't know it yet. It is only a matter of time before the controlled gets a hold of what I brought with me. Then the town will just have to splash him, and poof! No more Demon," I said, and Gaston shrugged.
"Don't underestimate him. While he is one of the weaker Demons, he is still level thirty and physically stronger. I don't think he will let you leave and will mostly just come and face you himself. I am sure that he also has a grudge against this little one," Gaston said, looking at Jessel.
"Oh? She sent a Demon that hates her?" I asked and then turned to Jessel, who was looking away, her face even redder.
"I forgot that he was down here," Jessel grumbled, putting her hands over her face.
I stood up and scooped Jessel off the couch, and she started to fight me, but I glared at her.
"You are going to be bait for stupid Demon since you sent him. I probably won't get any points up top, but I have things to do and people waiting," I said, heading for the door.
"What?! You can be serious?! I am a level 1 fighter!" Jessel squealed.
"I don't think it is a bad idea. This is the best way to have the least amount of casualties, and you did send him here, Jessel," Gaston said with a laugh.
"But I will become a casualty!" Jessel cried.
"Not while the Nameless God breathes, I can assure you of that. You have now become one of his party members, so you will be safe," Gaston said, and I nodded, leaving the room.
Once we were back up front to the inn, Charles was waiting for us.
"Job's done, and this pouch has the extra Ren," Charles said as he pushed over a tied bag.
I nodded and opened the sack, pulling out four gold Ren.
"Can I get back one twenty-ounce bottle of my stuff and a bunch of rope? I am going to have to tie something pretty big down," I explained, and Charles nodded.
"I'll get the boys to bring some rope around the front," Charles said and then reached under the counter, pulling out a twenty-five-ounce bottle of my potion to hand me.
I noticed there was still some blood running along with his fingernails when he handed me the bottle. Charles noticed what I saw and spoke up.
"If you find any more trash in our town's area, feel free to drop it here to be disposed of. I normally don't say things like this, but I know you are a trustable man if you commune with Gods. Our world is looking for a Hero," Charles said, eyeing me up, but I shook my head.
"I am not the Hero. I am the Nameless God that guides and protects them, nothing more. Gaston and I go back, so he and I can chat," I said and then looked down at Jessel, saying, "This one right here is one of my disciples, Jessel. I am sure that you all remember her, being the Goddess, and all a day ago."
"I thought this one looked familiar? A good number of people are not happy with you, but I am sure you know this. You are pretty brave to do what you did, so I will hold judgment, but only because you are with this guy. He seems like the type to help you correct your thinking, but it isn't going to be easy for you," Charles said, eyeing Jessel thoughtfully.
"Jessel will get better with time and guidance. This time I will make sure that she gains proper world experiences. Now, you seem to have a Demon hiding in your town, and we are going to take him off your hands," I said, after giving Jessel the money, and taking the bottle.
I turned and headed out of the inn. It was time to go Demon catching!
