Chapter 1 - Reincarnation

"The breeze... I can feel the freshness of the light air passing me... I can hear birds chirp-... birds..?" Suddenly, I woke up. I looked around and saw a quite mysterious person - wearing a red headband over his eyes. The room looked luxurious yet ancient, with patterns I'd never seen before.

"So you're finally awake".

I was gazing around the room with confusion written all over my face, and then it struck me. Why is this man here, literally waiting for me to wake up? He has to know why I'm here right?

All of a sudden he said "Have some food and I'll explain the rest", in a serious tone.

Without hesitation, I started cramming down the mouth-watering food presented before me. He then went on to explain about how and why I got here, word by word he uttered and at first it all seemed like non-sense, until I realized - this is a different world.

Everything taken into accord, it's hard to believe a single speck of word he claimed. Apparently I was killed in my previous life, and my 'soul' was sent here in pursuit of a parallel world. In this world, everything - status, wealth, power - is determined by mana levels.

One may ask; what is 'mana'? Well, you could imagine mana as a life source, in which people from this world use to cast spells. I wasn't informed much about them but from what I can recall, the man said:

"There's beings called mana beasts wandering this world that feeds on people. We were on the brink of extinction, until the Pheno god bestowed upon us with a phenomenal power. Today we call it 'mana' and it's extremely vital for everyday use. Of course, people soon got used to using it and thus, a great era of mages was born".

What piqued my interest like never before was when he told me there were other reincarnates just like me, who came from Earth. I was eager to meet them, however, he woefully informed me I would need to become a full fledged mage first. I never understood why he felt sorry saying that, but at that moment; I strived to train to become a mage.

"There are four main affinities of mana; ventus, ignis, aqua, and earth. In most cases, each person has one affinity, but in extremely rare cases, they can have two affinities. There has only been one person who had three affinities, but he is long dead. We'll focus on what your affinity is later on, and for now you will need to know the two types of controlling mana. Emitters - they are able to control the mana around them to form extremely offensive spells, however due to using exterior mana, they themselves have low mana volumes. Conjurers - they use their inner mana to create spells that overlap their bodies, they have high mana volumes and good defense, but the throwback is the range. Whichever path you choose is not my problem, but think about it wisely."

I was fascinated and couldn't wait to try this 'mana' out, but I felt extremely weak and frail. "You need more rest, this is all I can tell you for today". And he shut the door behind, leaving me all alone. I began thinking about everything. Where do I start? How do I train? How do I use mana? With little to no energy left, I went into deep slumber before I knew it.
