I woke up early the next morning, only to see the man waiting for me to wake up.
"Follow me" was all he said, nothing else.
I got out of bed and trailed him until we were into what seemed like a dressing room. He was actually showing me around the place - where the dining room is and all that.
"Hey so, when are we going to practice using mana? I-I mean, we will right?" I asked him all dilly-dally.
"We'll be doing that soon enough". His words were cold and stern, but most importantly, straight to the point.
The morning passed in a flash, all I remembered was the cold shoulder he gave me constantly. Out of nowhere, he barged into my room and handed me a uniform - one that looked quite luxurious.
"Well well, here's where things get interesting. Let's get down to business, boy. Did you assume I'm taking care of you just because you're stranded here?".
I was speechless... of course I didn't assume anything - heck, I was even wondering why I was here.
"Whether or not you assumed, it doesn't really matter. From today onwards you're going to work your butt off and become one of the best mages to ever exist. How you may ask? Reincarnates are the only beings strong enough to wield a dual affinity or higher, and also hold a much higher mana level than mere locals".
All of this information was hard to take in at once but I gradually came to an understanding. My first thought was, what? Did he just say I could have two affinities or more? And that I have a higher mana level than people here?
My jaw dropped as he continued to explain "Dress up in those clothes I just gave you. Starting today you will attend the ICM (Institute of Celestial Mages), the most well-known school that has given birth to countless Celestial rank mages. There are ten rankings of mages - Arcane being the lowest and Celestial being the strongest of mages. As of now, there is only an imposing total of 9 celestial mages across Skystead."
That was an unfamiliar word, Skystead?
"Skystead? What's that? A location on this world?".
With a grin he politely replied "I guess I forgot to tell you huh? Silly me... Skystead is the name of the world you're living in right now. I can't say the world is at peace right now, but we'll go in depths later".
I wonder where the cold and stern man from this morning wandered to. After all this time, he still hasn't told me his name but if I did ask, I was afraid it'd make him mad.
"Come outside when you're ready", and off he went.
It was my first time going outside, and I didn't expect this whole mansion-like place to be built on a field full of greenery. It was a big field with short trimmed grass and tall trees surrounded by heaps of hills.
"Hurry up and get in".
I turned left and saw an old-fashioned cart with two horses leading it. This is a different world, how stupid was I to expect a chauffeur-driven limousine just to go to school? I had no idea of what my affinity is, or how to even use mana. The fear of having other students downgrade me for the sole fact of lacking knowledge was unimaginable...
