Chapter 47:
Thor stared at the fully restored Bifrost Bridge, his jaw practically on the floor. "No way, it's already fixed?"
Mark shrugged casually. "It wasn't even broken in the first place."
Thor's attention was drawn to Mark's gesture, and he suddenly noticed the dagger sticking out of his chest. He paused and asked, "What happened? Did Loki...?"
"The kid didn't know any better. It's no big deal," Mark replied, pulling the dagger out of his chest and tossing it aside nonchalantly. "Things got a bit heated earlier, but after a good talk, we're friends now."
"Really?" Thor looked at Loki skeptically.
Loki quickly nodded. "Of course, brother. I feel a real connection with Mark. We're best buds now."
"You're not messing with me, are you?" Thor asked again, still doubtful.
"How could I?" Loki raised his hands innocently. "I've turned over a new leaf. You have to trust your little brother."
"Alright," Thor relented, sensing something was off but deciding not to push it. "The Bifrost is temporarily down because of the damage. Loki, you've made a real mess while I was gone. I need to tell Father about this."
"Father is still asleep. I think we can find another way to deal with this," Loki suggested with an awkward but polite smile. "Brother, what if we tell Mother? After all, Father... he's tired, and we shouldn't disturb him."
"Mother won't forgive you either," Thor retorted, rolling his eyes. "Do you think destroying Jotunheim is a small thing?"
"I'm just following your lead," Loki mercilessly replied to his unfortunate brother. "Didn't you attack them with your bare hands? What's with the sudden change of heart? Have you forgotten your past bravery and glory?"
Thor was speechless. Yes, he had been like that before his banishment. After a long silence, he finally spoke slowly, "Brother, I've changed."
Loki smirked. "Oh, how convenient. So have I."
While the two argued, a large group of soldiers marched quickly towards them from the other side of the Bifrost Bridge, effectively surrounding Thor and Loki.
Loki looked like he wanted to say something, but before he could, a green light appeared. An illusion of Frigga materialized before them. Loki, who had just mentioned Frigga, immediately shut up, looking like a child caught in the act.
"Mother," Thor stepped forward at a crucial moment. "Everything has been resolved. You don't have to worry."
"Come to Odin's chamber," Frigga instructed, unable to say much with the guards around. "I need to talk to both of you."
What followed was pretty straightforward—a case of misbehaving children getting a lecture from their parents.
Mark couldn't be bothered with any of it. He simply greeted Frigga, who, in return, arranged for him to stay with the Asgardian warriors.
There was no other choice. Although the Bifrost Bridge wasn't damaged this time, its teleportation function was temporarily out of commission. Thanks to the crazy spinning and the impact from Mark's cleaver, it was a miracle it hadn't exploded. Repairing it would take a few days, meaning Mark had to stay in Asgard for a bit.
Staying in Asgard for a few days was exactly what Mark wanted.
This place was a modder's paradise. In such a short time, Mark had already discovered five mods. It was incredible.
Since Loki and Thor hadn't actually destroyed the Bifrost Bridge this time, Odin didn't wake up early to save his son or intervene. It wasn't until the third day that he appeared in the palace to deal with various matters and clean up the mess his two sons had made.
Odin also had a private meeting with Mark.
Perhaps it was because Mark had helped resolve the conflict between Loki and Thor and had given Frigga an enchanted golden apple. Whatever the reason, Odin was quite courteous towards Mark.
As for Mark...
He also made a request to Odin.
He wanted permission to explore and investigate the palace. After all, he had paid the entrance fee, and he wasn't going to damage anything. Odin probably thought that Mark, being a Midgardian sorcerer, might be interested in the unknown, so he granted him permission.
Over the next few days, Mark successfully unlocked two more mods.
One was unlocked by encountering monsters in the wild forests of Asgard, a mod called the Grimoire of Gaia. The other was unlocked during a drinking session with Thor and the Asgardian warriors, and it was the Pam's HarvestCraft Add-on mod.
Now, about Loki...
Mark took the opportunity to visit him in the dungeon.
After Loki performed several storage spells for him, the system notification finally sounded, unlocking a mod called "Super Backpack."
This mod was different from the ones Mark had unlocked before.
Usually, most mods added new items to the game, like the Industrial Age mod, which brought new processes, items, and gameplay mechanics.
But there were also a few lightweight mods that just enhanced existing game functions without adding new items.
The most common example was the Mini Map mod.
Mods like Player Highlight, Chain Link, Metamorph, Fast Leaf Decay, and JEI were similar.
They didn't add new items, but they made things more convenient for players.
The "Super Backpack" mod that Mark had just unlocked was one of these lightweight mods.
It didn't add any new items to the game; it simply allowed Steve to increase his backpack capacity by using experience points. It could expand Steve's backpack capacity by more than ten times, which was incredibly useful.
But for Mark, it wasn't just the mod's functionality that surprised him.
What truly astonished Mark was...
After loading this mod, an ex
tra space inexplicably appeared in his mind.
