Chapter 48:
Mark marveled at the space that had appeared in his mind. It was the first time he had encountered a mod that directly affected his own body, and it left him speechless.
But the more he thought about it, the more it made sense. His body was digitized, so being able to load mods that affected him, like Steve, was probably normal. Mark even imagined future mods that could change his appearance or abilities. Could he become a shapeshifter like Mystique? But that was a story for another time.
Right now, Mark was most interested in the space in his mind. Unlike Steve's classic game-style backpack with its small squares, this space was like the storage spaces described in fantasy novels.
But there was a problem. Mark couldn't figure out how to put things in it. After leaving Loki's dungeon, he hurried back to his room in the palace. He picked up a candlestick from the bedside table and tried to put it into the storage space. But no matter how hard he stared at it, the candlestick wouldn't go in.
Mark frowned. "Maybe I'm not focusing enough?" He thought back to all the fantasy and cultivation novels he had read, remembering how characters would concentrate their minds on an object, visualizing it being stored in a spatial container.
Mark carefully pressed the candlestick against his forehead, concentrating hard. "Come on, go in..." he whispered.
To his surprise, his grip loosened, and the candlestick slid halfway into his head.
"Oh..." Mark found himself in an awkward position. Sitting cross-legged on the bed, he held the base of the candlestick with both hands, while the top half had disappeared into his forehead, as if he was performing some strange magic trick. Strangely, he didn't feel any blockage, as if the candlestick wasn't actually inside his head.
"Is this how it works?" Mark marveled at the bizarre sight.
Despite the strangeness, Mark remained calm, considering his digitized body. He actually found it quite fascinating. "I can even fit something this big inside. My imagination truly has no limits."
With a bit of effort, he pushed the whole candlestick into his head, and instantly, a mental image of the candlestick appeared in his mind.
To get it back, all he had to do was touch his forehead. He quickly grabbed the handle, pulled, and the whole candlestick reappeared in his hand.
Mark was thrilled with this new ability and played around with it like he had discovered some amazing new toy.
He soon figured out how it worked.
First, he didn't actually need to touch his forehead to access the storage space. Mark discovered that whenever something touched his body and he wanted to store it, it would automatically be transferred to the storage space.
Also, he could retrieve items from any part of his body, be it his palm, chest, back, or anywhere else. There was no need to always insert them through his forehead, which would look pretty silly.
The storage space wasn't huge, but it was about two square meters, which was big enough for Mark.
After spending some time organizing his belongings and putting them into the storage space, Mark turned his attention to his main task: opening the Lucky Cubes.
Asgard was a lucky place for Mark.
It had given him so many mods.
In the treasury alone, he had unlocked Thermal Expansion, two Tinker's Construct add-ons from the underground tomb, Light Bridge from digging the Bifrost Bridge, Grimoire of Gaia from the forest, Pam's HarvestCraft Add-on Beverages from the banquet, and the Super Backpack from Loki.
In just a few days, Mark had unlocked a total of seven mods in Asgard.
Although he didn't understand some of the mods, like Thermal Expansion and Add-on Beverages, they still gave him Lucky Cubes.
After patiently waiting for a few days, most of these mods had finished downloading.
Now, Steve's backpack contained seven Lucky Cubes.
Remembering his bad luck when unlocking the Tinker's Construct TAIGA Add-on Alloy mod on Earth, where he got a useless ore magnet in front of Nick Fury, Mark decided to be more careful this time.
He took a relaxing bath, lit some incense, changed into new clothes from Asgard, and carefully checked his surroundings to make sure no one was watching.
With everything in order, Mark had Steve take out the Lucky Cubes.
"Seven consecutive draws... how luxurious," Mark murmured, getting excited as he saw the seven Lucky Cubes in Steve's inventory.
Even if his luck wasn't great, this many draws should guarantee him something good, just like in most gacha games, right?
Mark took a deep breath.
He told Steve to open the first Lucky Cube.
A bright light flashed, and a black-purple ring appeared in Steve's hand.
"What the—?
!" Mark exclaimed in disbelief.
