Rowan noticed Onyx's behavior and that he was extremely uncomfortable. The man that had called to them was walking forward and waving his hand in the air.
"I haven't seen you in such a long time! Still working on your failure projects I see." He said as he shook Rowan's hand. The man had a lizard looking thing on his shoulder that was overly green.
"Ahahaha, actually I'm onyx's incarnation." Rowan said as he chuckled rubbing the back of his head. "The name's Rowan!"
The man seemed shocked for a while before his lizard spoke up.
"Oh! So he did take my advice!" He said. "I've been telling onyx to join the program for such a long time! I'm lucci and This man is also my incarnation, Hunter."
Hunter gave a big smile and flexed his arms. It seemed as though everybody was bigger than Rowan. He was tall and fit while Hunter was big with a lot of muscle.
"O-okay?" Rowan said as he scratched his face. These people seemed to be friends of Onyx but he refused to speak to them.
"Is that snake around you onyx?" Hunter asked.
"Yea he's just…" Rowan looked towards the onyx and removed his ponytail out of the way. He came into view and seemed as though he was sleeping. Rowan could tell it was fake as he has watched onyx sleep many times before.
'This bitch is leaving me to deal with this myself!'
"It seems he fell asleep. Hahaha." Rowan awkwardly chuckled.
"Aww that's too bad! I've been wanting to catch up with him." Lucci said. "What are you guys looking for anyway?"
"Some swords and other things that could come in handy at the competition." Rowan was only equipped with the armor on top of his sweats right now.
"HAHAHAHA. You're going to the competition?" Hunter said as he laughed. "Everybody has to learn the hard way I guess." He started to walk back to their stall. "We have a bunch of weapons if you need some."
Rowan followed him as he laughed. 'Maybe I should try fake sleeping as well.' He thought. Once they reached their stall it was absolutely covered in all kinds of swords, scythes and hammers that you could ever imagine. Rowan was fascinated by it all.
'Usually, in America, it's just guns at every corner.'
"Take anything you want!" Lucci said as he hopped on a table that was at the front of the stall.
"Umm do you have anything with... like...chains?" Rowan asked.
"Alright hold up." He disappeared into the store.
He knew how to use a three section staff back when he trained with his master. Therefore he was more comfortable with something like that or something chained. They had worked on his sword techniques as well so he wanted a sword too.
Hunter stuck around to talk more with Rowan as they both sat at the table.
"Do you regret your reincarnation?" He suddenly asked.
"What?" Rowan said with a blank face. 'That's outta nowhere.'
"Well I mean you got unlucky and ended up as onyx's incarnation." Hunter continued. "My master told me about him and how he got kicked out of his galaxy because he destroyed a whole planet. He is weak and all his projects fail. Isn't it kinda sad to become involved with someone like that? I mean even I lost in the competition with someone who had normal stats." He said, chuckling.
Onyx listened closely to the conversation. 'It's not like I care what he thinks of me…' he thought, yet he found himself anticipating Rowan's answer.
Rowan kept quiet. He thought back, remembering how onyx trained him. How he watched over him and taught someone like Rowan how to survive in this world. 'It's for his own gain too but I'm sure he didn't need to do all that for me.' All the late-night talks and stories he told to help Rowan adjust. As much as Rowan knew, Onyx was a patient and cool person overall.
"No." Rowan replied. "I respect onyx as he is an honest person who doesn't speak behind others back and settles for the average. Even if he fails he looks ahead and doesn't give up. There is no way I'll ever regret meeting someone like him."
This seemed to catch Hunter off guard as he had shock on his face. Rowan didn't mean to be rough since it didn't seem like Hunter was a bad person. He was just young and easily influenced by others. Rowan himself was just 17 years old back on earth. It was Lucci that looked like the main problem.
Onyx on the other hand was smiling to himself widely. He felt unexplainable joy that he hasn't felt in years. Rowan could feel him wiggle on his neck, which he learned was a sign that he was very happy.
"I GOT IT!" Lucci yelled as he came back out from the store. He came back with two swords that had fencing handles. There was a long, black chain that connected the two swords in between. 'Woah!' Rowan thought this was perfect for what he wanted. Lucci gave Hunter the swords and he dusted them off before handing it to Rowan.
"That will be about 730 coins." Lucci spoke. "Or don't tell me you guys are still broke?" He laughed, crawling up Hunter's leg to reach the table.
"Hey why don't you wake up onyx for me? He's been sleeping for too long." Lucci reached out his scaled arm for onyx. Rowan was sitting in front of the table and Hunter was sitting behind it. Lucci being on the table could reach Rowan's shoulder from where he was.
*BOOM*
Before he could make contact, Rowan suddenly released a large amount of Ahi. It was so strong it slammed Hunter and Lucci both to the ground.
'This pressure!' Lucci thought as he was squished against the table. Onyx tapped Rowan on the neck, under his hair making Rowan stop the sen. He went back to his original state before speaking.
"I would like it if you kept your hands of me." He said in a cold manner. Lucci backed away with a tsk' and went back to Hunter's shoulder.
"Let's make a deal. Give me this sword for free and if I end up placing lower than 5th place in the competition I'll pay 20% more than the original price." Rowan said. He already had a deal with Raven so why not. Plus he didn't feel good making his debut into this world with debt on his name.
"2-20%!?" Lucci choked out. "YOUR OUT OF YOUR MIND! There's no way you'll make it!"
"Then you have nothing to worry about." Rowan said, smirking.
Lucci thought about it for a moment.
"Fine. Do what you want." He signaled to Hunter who was awfully quiet and less perky now, to make a contract. He did as ordered and made the contract before it appeared in front of Rowan. He signed it off making it disappear and just like that he now had a weapon.
"Gimme those small swords as well." Rowan said pointing to some small knives and a dagger laying on the floor to the side. After he was done with equipping himself, he got ready to head out. Hunter was standing at the entrance, still gloomy over what happened. Rowan walked by him and put a hand on his shoulder.
"It's still not too late. Don't let one failure stop you." He said as he patted him on the shoulder. Then he exited the stall walking back to the entrance of the town.
Onyx slithered out of his hair where he was 'sleeping'.
"Are you awake now?" Rowan asked jokingly.
"Yea that nap was very refreshing." Onyx replied.
"Did you know those people?" Rowan asked in a serious tone now.
"Yea they're one of the friends who had told me to join the BLP."
"Those aren't friends." Rowan started. "Don't worry. Words don't mean much, especially in a world like this one. It's action that matters and will show them. Will show them all."
