Chapter 12 - System Begin

"UGHHHHH WHYYY do you have to live up a hill!" Rowan complained as he made his way back to the house. The sun was about to set and they needed to go hunting for food.

"Stop being a baby, the hill isn't even that steep." Onyx replied.

"EASY FOR YOU TO SAY! YOU HAVE A FREE RIDE!" Rowan yelled at him. The reason he was so tired could have also been all the extra weight he had from the swords and knives. Even though onyx was still bickering with Rowan as always, there was something weighing on his mind.

Once they reached the house, he took off all the stuff he had on and put it away somewhere in the empty closet. 'I'm finally using this part of the house.' He thought. He went back out to go do his usual routine but That's when he noticed onyx at the spot where they used to train. He was floating up, just like Rowan used to see in those black magic movies. There was Ahi surrounding him as he glowed brightly.

"Whatcha doin?" Rowan asked, coming closer. Onyx slowly lowered himself to the ground and the glow slowly faded.

"I'm collecting Ahi so I can get myself a human body." Onyx answered.

"Woah! You can do that?"

"Yea. I'm sure you can see on the bar above my head." Onyx replied.

Rowan stood there confused.

"What bar?" He asked.

Onyx suddenly snapped his neck towards him.

"Oh no! I was so focused on teaching you Survival skills about this world I completely forgot to teach you the system!" He exclaimed.

"Well we only had one month so I don't really blame you." Rowan started sitting down.

"I'll just kick start something for you." Onyx sighed. "Usually the skill needed to open the system would should be opened in the beginning but we're both dumb so..."

"What do you mean both? This is a you problem."

"You know the drill. Sen." Onyx watched as Rowan closed his eyes and surrounded himself with Ahi. "Okay now focus it on your eyes."

Another technique that Rowan learned throughout the month. The Ahi that you exhibit out of your body doesn't have to be fully covering you. You can just focus on one spot of your body and all your Ahi will go there making it stronger. That's what Rowan did with his eyes. He focused the Ahi and opened them wide.

"Alright, repeat after me. 3rd person reading, begin." Onyx instructed.

"3rd person reading! BEGIN." Rowan yelled as he fought to keep his ahi going and eyes open. It felt as though electricity went running through his eyes as he heard a 'DING!'.

[ You have forcefully started '3rd person reading' skill ]

Rowan slowly opened his eyes to find that he now saw things in the Corners.

"EH-" he turned around but the things stayed in place.

"Calm down dumbass. You're not going to see them like that." Onyx said. "Try looking into the corner of your eyes by moving only them."

Rowan did as he was told and looked into the corner. Suddenly the thing he was looking at got bigger.

"Woahhhhhh" he exclaimed before looking down at the other things.

He then looked to the other side.

He then looked up to find a search bar. Next to the search bar was written 'hottest Event: Stellar competition, district three: Action

"This is so cool!" Rowan looked down at onyx to find a bar over him that was less than a quarter full.

"Do I also have a bar like that?" He asked.

"Yes, all players do." Onyx replied. "Even the animals have them."

Rowan looked through the things that were now in front him.

"So is there a way to turn this off? It's giving me a headache." Rowan asked.

"Go to the setting and you should find a verbal option there." Onyx replied. Rowan did that and was able to turn on the option making all the things that were in front of his eyes disappear.

"This is like a video game. Maybe I should have played more online at sword with my brother." Rowan said as he went to his profile. It showed his status, name and level (18). There was a number under his user '#8157'.

"Oh! Is all this information about me public? Like can everybody see it?"

"Yup. You can cover it up with another skill." Onyx said.

"What skill?"

" [Locked Vision]. If a skill is an extra then you will need to buy it through the store and if necessary you will get them with your achievements. The one to cover up your information is an extra so you need to buy it." Onyx said, "Broke ass."

"HEY WERE IN THE SAME SITUATION SO DON'T EVEN TRY!"

"Well I mean either way anybody with a 'true sight' skill that is of high level, can see through the cover up so…."

"Well that's useless then."

"Open your stats real quick."

"Stats." Rowan said and the window popped up.

[ player/sorcerer

Mental: no skills

Elemental: [Earth (8)]

Physical: [speed: 21 (10)] [strength: 34 (10)] [Durability: 26 (10)] [Endurance: 12 (10)] [Ahi: 48 (10)] [Agility: 28 (10)]

Yin-yang: no skills ]

"See? The ones in parentheses were your stats when we started. Now you have upgraded by a lot." Onyx explained.

"Okay. So what do all these mean?" Rowan pointed to the left side of his window.

"There are the different sections of Ahi manifestation. For example, in the mental area 'true sight' is a skill but 'mind control' is a manifestation. Also not everybody is a player so those that have a different system have different skills." Onyx explained.

Rowan tried to understand what onyx was saying and smoke started to rise from his head.

"AhhhhhHHHHH. You know what, I'm just going to go with the flow." He aggressively scratched his head. This was so much to take in and it was less than one day from the competition. The sun had set by now and it was getting very dark.

"OH SHIT. I FORGOT TO HUNT." Rowan said as he scrambled quickly to go grab his new weapon. 'I can put these to the test as well.' He thought before walking into the woods. Onyx watched as he disappeared, thinking hard about what to do. He never had real friends and didn't know what to do about the emotions he was feeling. Should he just talk to Rowan? For the first time in his life since the accident, he was willing to be vulnerable with someone.
