Chapter 5 - Blood hound

*Time skip (4 months)

The soldier lit his smoke and took a deep puff. Suddenly a knife came at his throat and before he could even react blood had started to flow from his throat like a fountain. A young boy with an expression less face came into view as he bathed in the blood of his victim.

"Major" he said in low voice, as a honey blonde haired man approached him. Yes this was former Captain Jasper Whitlock who had now been promoted to the rank of Major.

"I'll never understand your fetish of blood" looking a bit uncomfortable with the blood soaked boy.

"It just makes it easier to kill the next time."

Jasper shook his head and sighed. He still remembered the naive boy who he had started training and the boy just developed a natural talent for killing. While in training he had interacted with members of the company but after the suicide missions assigned to them, due to those political bastards who thought Jasper was gaining power too rapidly, all had died other than the Major and Simon. As a result of seeing his comrades die, utter their farewell while weeping about their regrets Simon got detached from people and that's when he started to cover himself in blood something he knew very well that Simon hated but did as it prevented people coming near him and forming a connection. In short, Simon covering himself in blood was a simple defense mechanism of his mind inorder not to become close to someone who would die. Hence, everytime they returned from a mission Simon would be covered in enemy blood from head to toe.

"Let's go back our mission to kill the guards has been completed we should join the main force to attack."

Simon followed behind the Major and eventually reached their camp. As soon as they arrived people started to point and whisper among themselves occasionally mentioning 'blood hound'. This was the name Simon had obtained after he started returning from his missions covered in blood.

Jasper had went to report about the completion of their mission to the command and was joining the battalion.

The trumpet sounded and all the soldiers rushed forward with gun in their hand and started to shoot the people who were still surprised and unable to react.

Jasper only killing people who got too close to him with a pistol, was giving orders to the soldiers to win in the quickest way possible as he knew that the longer they spend the more people would die.

Simon had already ran into the heart of enemy forces not caring about the formation. Even though he was surrounded by people carrying guns it didn't have any effect on his facial expression. Adopting the same poker face he always had he pounced on his enemy while the feeling of their blood that tickled on his skin and made him wince in disgust before returning to the same expressionnless face.

He felt his instincts go haywire and looked towards the Major who also had noticed that something unexpected was going to happen. However nobody had the time to react as Jasper tackled by a black shadow and taken somewhere. Simon immediately rushed towards the direction he saw the shadow going to. Simon was not willing to lose the only person in this madness who he could trust.

Simon ran as fast as he could slashing enemy and ally alike who came infront of him not caring about the consequences he would have to face later on. Simon ran and ran until he could no longer hear the sounds of guns being shot. He looked around to see a trace of Major but failed. He screamed "MAJOR". But got no response in return he again shouted at the top of his lungs "MAJOR".

He looked around only to see a dog tag with the name Jasper Whitlock. He felt empty while staring at it. He felt something starting to break inside of him and felt his head shaking and hear "No. No. Nooo." Only to realize it was his own voice.

He ran everywhere looking around desperately his expressionnless face was replaced with a look that threatened to cry at any second.

He arrived at what seemed to be an abandoned barn. Going in it's direction and peeking inside he saw the honey blonde head that he was so familiar with. He rushed towards it forgetting all the things he had been taught to him for his survival not even noticing the presence of the another person.

Jasper looked unnaturally pale. There was no heartbeat, his skin felt cold as ice to touch. Simon again felt something breaking in his head he could no longer bear it. The war had taken way too much from him. He now realized the true cruelty of war it gave people hope, light and companions only to snatch them all away in the most brutal ways possible. He was so lost in his grief that he did not even realize two hole on Jasper's neck which had been bleeding were starting to close.
