Chapter 27 - Twenty Seven

*DIANA*

Julian's voice had conveyed anger but there was something else underneath his harsh and urgent tone, there was a hint of need, desperation in his voice was so obvious to hear, I could feel his urgency but I don't know why.

I checked the message inbox and I saw that the message that I had previously ignored contained some important information about a meeting at the pier, the text said the exact same words that Julian had said over the phone (without the insults).

'Meet me at the pier in forty minutes.'

"Who was that?" Olivia asked while snapping her fingers to gain my attention, I jolted back into reality.

"It was my boss" I had forgotten about her for a second, that was the kind of effect that Julian had on me.

"What does he want? I thought there was no working on the weekends" she said with a brow raised, I didn't want to release any further information about the call but there was no escaping from Olivia when she wanted to hear about any kind of gossip.

"He didn't say much, he said that I should meet him at the pier" I told her only half of it, she was still trying to further her interrogation.

"When?" she asked about the time of course, all she ever needed was the time and location before she appeared anywhere.

"In about forty minutes" I said to her as I looked at the clock on the wall, I hadn't taken my bath or even looked for anything to wear to the pier.

"I would have loved to come with you but I have somewhere else to go soon but I will wait until you are ready to leave before I will set off on my way" I couldn't argue with her logic and it would be nice to have some company before I left.

"Okay then" I said with a shrug, I put water into the heater to boil and I went to my closet to look for something to wear, if it had been at Julian's house I would have Madame Othello to dress me up in her wickedly sexy fashion.

"I don't know what to wear to a pier" I lamented aloud and Olivia chuckled, I was glad to have my best friend back to her normal self.

"It might be a date so better wear something sexy but not too revealing because there will be kids at the pier so you don't want that kind of looks from their parents" Olivia entered my closet like a hungry wolf scavenging for food, I stood back and let her rummage through my clothes before she brought out a dress that I had forgotten about.

"This one look nice and I have never seen it on you before, is it new?" Olivia asked as she waved the gown that Carl had bought for me in my face, I had not worn it and it was decent enough for me to wear to a pier so I agreed to her opinion.

"Carl bought it for me, he wanted me to wear it to our date" I said as I took it from her.

"Must be nice, you have two men who are ready to spoil you" she said with an emphatic sigh, I glared at her instantly when I caught the joke.

"What do you mean by that?" Olivia obviously knew that I had only one boyfriend so she was definitely pointing at the fact that Julian was the other man in my life now.

"Don't you see it? He gave you a phone and he has been treating you nice ever since you started working there, I am pretty sure that he gave you the job because he saw how good you were looking at the funeral" I felt my brow twitch a bit, I was close to losing my temper.

"Julian is nice to his workers and I am not the kind of person that is going to have that boss and secretary relationship, it is best that you don't even think towards that angle before I will lose my cool" I warned her lightly and thankfully she took the hint, she didn't drop the topic though.

"If he doesn't like you then why would he ask you to come to the pier?" she asked the same question that had been raging in my head, I was asking myself the same thing.

"There is only one way to find out, I will have to go to the pier and see things for myself… he was the one that gave me the weekend off and he sounded eager to get rid of me but this call just changed my perspective, I am not hoping on anything and I am expecting it to be work related because I have never seen anybody that be as determined as he is about his work" I said as I remembered how serious he looked whenever he was sitting at his desk with his cold, lifeless gray eyes staring intently at his monitor.

'If only he could stare at me like that' my subconscious cooed in my head and I had to shake my head to snap out of the wild thoughts that were already creeping.

"Okay then, you go and have fun with your boss at the pier while me will be waiting for you to call and tell me all about your splendid day" she said with a smirk, I rolled my eyes at her because I knew there was no way that I could change her mind.

I took my bath quickly and I brushed my teeth with the same speed, I did a light makeover on my face and with the help of Olivia I was able to sharpen the lining of my brow, I put on the dress and I was amazed by the way it hugged my body and it made my figure to stand out, I felt a warm feeling creep up my legs as I imagined how stunned he would be to see me like this. It gave me a sort of confidence.

"You look… Stunning!" Olivia exclaimed when she saw me, I gave her a 360 turn and she whistled loudly.

"Phew, somebody is going to have a hard time with his pants today" I knew that she was referring to Julian but the thought of it made me to blush, I couldn't understand these reactions that I had been getting lately.

"Let's just hope that it is not what I think this is" I said with a sigh.

"And what's that?"

"A DATE!!".
