*UNKNOWN POV*
"You really think that it was one of the families that sent the hit?" Felix asked as he drove his friend down to the station, Julian didn't want Raymond to drive them to the station because the driver might tell Julian's mother about the trip to the station.
"Yes, it is so fucking obvious… my father had hit a deal that would make anybody's mouth to water and that greed must have consumed one of them and they sent an assassin to take him out" Julian gripped the car seat in fury, he was trying to keep his anger in check.
"Wow… I have never expected the underground crime bosses to get greedy or even desperate, I thought they all had more than enough money to run their rackets?" Felix asked as he swerved past a vehicle that was in the wrong lane.
"They get greedy and if I am not mistaken, they are even the greediest because they could be running their multi-million-dollar businesses but they will still jump at any tip or job that could make them even if it's only a few cents richer, I don't trust any of these slimy bastards in the syndicate" Julian spat the last words with so much incentive, he was irritated by the greed by the heads of families.
"What was the deal that your father hit? It must be very big-" Julian cut him off with the facts.
"It was a container of cocaine straight from Colombia, it was expensive and it would make my father's racket to go boom!! There was only a few people that knew about the deal but that few was closer to my father than any other family heads, I could understand that the word might have gone out but what puzzled me was that after my father was shot… the container was emptied in the harbor and all the bags of coke was gone before the police could even start investigating the murder, it practically happened at the same time, the murder and the robbery" Julian thought about what he had just said and tried to remember a missing information that would have given him a way point to follow but he just couldn't remember what the information was.
"It smells like an inside job, if only we knew how and who pulled it off… that would solve a lot of questions" Felix said thoughtfully, he had vowed to assist his friend in looking for his father's killer and he was as affected as Julian was.
"Let us hope that the police can help us with that" Julian said as they pulled up in front of the police building, Felix parked his car in the wide parking lot and they highlighted the vehicle to enter the looming building that Julian hated so much.
The detective working on the case was Detective Borris Williams, he was a professional with over 30 years of experience that made him look even more older than his age, he was a collected and calm man with an impulsive mind, he had solved even the most dangerous cases without flinching for one moment so that was the reason he was the one selected for such a delicate case. Borris was in his office arranging his files, he was scratching his gray head with a key as he scanned through different sheaf of papers, his desk phone rang and he told his secretary to let in his visitors, Borris stood up and he lit a cigarette that was lying next to the stack of files on his table, he let out his third puff before he heard a knock on the door.
"Good evening, Mr. Borris" Felix and Julian greeted the advanced man with courtesy, the detective managed to afford a smile even though it was short lived.
"Good evening boys, hope you had an awesome week?" he asked the two of them and Julian shook his head.
"Nope, slow week and I had to keep up with an inconsistent P.A" Julian said in regards to Diana, Felix was cheerier than his friend who was looking so glum.
"I had a great week, stocks have been great and the profits-" Felix would have continued his ranting about his week but Julian was running low on patience.
"We are not here for talking about our week or a cigar break, I am here to ask you about what you have found out about my father's killer" Julian went straight to the point in his usual cold manner, Borris looked at the young lad with eyes that conveyed concern.
"You have no patience, that's not a way for a young man to live his life" Borris said as he ashed out his cigarette, he took some papers from the table and he began to read through them as if they were no longer in the room until Julian spoke up.
"I am not here for a life lecture, tell me what I need to know and that's that" Julian had no love or respect for the old man, he hated the police and he hated their slow work too.
"I have been following the case ever since it landed on my desk, I had been expecting you to come here even more often than this but you seem to have a small zeal for a boy that has revenge in his eyes… here are the photos that were taken from the crime scene, look closely and you will see that the bullet shells are the ones from a standard 45 automatic baretta but the queer thing is the initials… A.M.R" Borris gave the photos to Julian who was mortified by the statement that the detective made regarding his revenge filled eyes, he looked at the initials and what came to his mind was his father's name.
"Artur Mateo Ramirez? Why was my father's initials imprinted on the shells?" Julian asked after he had passed the pictures to Felix.
"It is very strange but it is a lead for me because I have come across this killer before… here, take a look at these" Borris gave Julian another set of pictures but it was of another victim and the shells had the initials S.M.
"That was the case that I handled a few years back, the victim's name was Sarah Marshalls…" Julian looked at the pictures closely and he could see similarities between the two pictures because they were both killed in the same manner, the bullet wounds were the same; two to the torso and one to the head.
"And did you find the killer? Or you just let that woman die without her killer being brought to justice?" Julian asked bitterly, the assassin was one that did not discriminate women or men that he kills so it was funny to Julian that the police could actually let some things slide.
"I was close but this time there is no way that he is going to escape our radar-" Julian cut Borris short with a sudden outburst that startled Felix.
"I am sure that is what you said to that woman's husband, children and her loved ones but until date her murderer is running around sending more victims to hell while the police is still making promises as usual" Julian flung the pictures at Borris and he walked out of the office in rage, Felix pleaded with the old man before he ran after his friend.
"Please forgive my friend's behavior, he has had a tough week and he is very emotional about his father's death" Felix said in a pleading voice.
"I know that he is going through a lot this period but he should remember that the law is the law and he should let the law to handle matters like these" the old man nodded his head in understanding and waved for Felix to follow Julian, Felix met Julian fuming by the car.
"What was that all about?" Felix queried his friend that looked so scary when he was angry.
"Can't you see how incompetent these people are? They cannot help me! Neither can they help any other person with a problem like this! I am taking matters into my own hands" Julian said with so much determination in his voice, Felix was not going to tell his friend what the detective had told him so he just got into his car and drove his angry friend back home.
