*DIANA*
I turned around to face Olivia with a fake smile and she was already wearing a look that told me that she was not in the mood for laughs or anything relating to that sort, Olivia sat down on the chair and she crossed her arms across her ample chest just to stare at me without saying anything.
"Good morning, best-" I was about to call her my best friend but she instantly shunned me as if I was about to spew lies out of my mouth.
"Don't say things that you do not mean, you know that I am not your best friend so why are you still even calling me that?" Olivia said with a scoff, I was mortified by her words.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked her, quite taken aback by her reaction.
"I have been the last person to know about anything that is going on in your life, you did not even tell me how the date with Carl went, you are just being shady about everything and it's very annoying" Olivia was complaining bitterly, she sounded hurt but she was playing it off.
"I haven't gotten enough time to explain anything to you, I was almost banned from coming to your restaurant that day and you know how Mr. Gregg feels about his kitchen" I used my excuse well, the truth was that I hardly got enough time for myself and now I had to juggle between family, boyfriend, best friend and then work as well, it wasn't easy for me but Olivia wouldn't see it like that but instead it will all be from her point of view.
"If you can't come to the restaurant then you know where I live, I can barely remember the last time that you even visited me but here I am still coming to your trailer as if I don't have other things doing at home… if you really want to see someone then you will create time for them" Olivia was scowling and she was making the mood of the place foul, I stayed calm so that I wouldn't say anything that was out of place or too revealing.
"I have been trying to do that but for Christ's sakes, it is just my first week on the job so it will be hard for me to just leave work and pop over at your restaurant to your house, I missed you and I was planning on going to your place before you came over this morning" Olivia gave me the 'I don't believe you' kind of look but I ignored her.
"Lies! You always claim that you were about to but then I came over or maybe something else will happen, Carl told me that he was here yesterday and before that he said that he ran into you at the mall" I had been expecting Carl to be the snitch but when it came to Olivia, I had been hoping for him to keep his mouth shut.
"Carl ran into me by chance at the mall-" Olivia cut me short again and this time I had to use all my willpower not to retort or to even give her a slap as a reply.
"Why didn't you call me? You should have tried to reach me and I would have followed you to the mall and I would have bought some things as well but you decided that you wanted to be the shady one" Olivia scowled at me with disdain, I was actually taken aback because it had not crossed my mind to call her.
"I wanted to see you next week, I had been planning to-" I wanted to explain myself but she cut me off with a surprised gasp.
"What am I looking at? Is that what I think it is?" Olivia marveled at my phone that was charging on the ironing board, I cringed because I had forgotten that I actually had a phone and now she could actually hold it against me and I will be guilty because I now had a phone but I still didn't call her.
"It was given to me yesterday by my boss, it's more like an office phone-" Olivia snatched it from the ironing board and she admired it with lustful eyes.
"An office phone is a phone that has wires attached to it and it is meant to remain in the office" she explained as she observed it cunningly, I took it from her and I was surprised to see the message notification bubble pop up on my screen. I ignored the message and I kept it in my pocket before Olivia got any strange ideas.
"He gave it to me because he needed to reach me whenever he was not in the office and I don't even have any other numbers on it yet" I made sure that I cleared out that part before the conversation moved further.
"Your boss must be pretty rich for him to throw such a phone around like that, what is his name again?" Olivia asked me off minded, she was lost in thought about something.
"His name is Julian Mateo Ramirez" I was sure that she already knew the name and I was proven right by her reaction.
"Julian, was he the one that you told me that you saw at that funeral that you went to?" I had forgotten that I had told her about the funeral that I attended earlier.
"Yes, that's him and it turned out that my dad knew his father who died and because of that affiliation I was granted a job… these are the things that I was planning to tell you when we saw each other this week" I told her earnestly and I noticed her anger reducing and her voice was reduced to a low whisper.
"I didn't know about your plans and it was as if Carl was getting to know all the important details before I did and it was so unfair" I was about to console her but I felt the phone vibrate audibly from my pocket, I stopped to answer the call which was from an unknown number.
"Hello?" I said nervously, I could hear heavy breathing from the other side of the phone.
"Didn't you see my message? Diana" I heard the chill in his voice as he spoke, it made me weak for a second and I found myself choking on my own spit as I tried to speak.
'God! He sounds so hot over the phone' I thought to myself mentally.
"Since you have suddenly gone dumb, meet me at the grand pier in forty minutes… it's urgent" he hung up on me and for the next few seconds I just stood there quite unable to move as if my legs were rooted to the ground.
