DIANA
I woke up to a new scene that was so beautiful, the ceiling had a mosaic painting that was so big that it almost covered my whole room, I had not noticed the day before because I had not actually taken my time to observe my surroundings before Julian had dragged me off to the office, it was a painting of many tiny adorable angels swarming in a sea of clouds, as I stared at the lovely painting.
My mind strayed to my mother and how she would have loved to see this kind of wonderful mosaic art, my heart saddened and I started to feel the heavy feeling in my chest again, the doctors had told me that it was not any disease but just the weight of the loss my heart is carrying due to traumatic experience.
I blinked back the tears that were about to form in my eyes and I got up from my bed in order to prepare for another day of facing "Mr. Annoying CEO".
The worst part of it all was that it was only day 2 and I was already sick of his attitude.
I thought of him as I took my shower and I just couldn't figure out how could a guy be so heartless to his mother, the way he had spoken to her was so cold and I felt really sorry for Madame because she was still mourning her husband and yet her son who was supposed to be the source of her joy was giving her a tough time instead.
I brushed my teeth and went through my usual shabby and not so complicated make-up that only consisted of lip gloss and a little bit of pancake to the face and the final ingredient which was my smile.
I opened my closet door and I saw what made my jaw to drop in astonishment, all the clothes that I had brought from the trailer park were no longer there, my wardrobe was stacked with different kinds of clothes that ranged from office clothes to club style dresses and even the 'stay-at-home hoodies sweatpants', Madame Othello was not lying when she had had said that she was going to change my wardrobe and she had over done her promise and she had even gone to different length to add jewelry like earrings and bracelets.
I just stood there in front of this vast collection quite unable to pick an outfit until I picked a dress that was suitable for the work day at the office.
I had not been conscious of the time ever since I was getting prepared and I wouldn't had known what time it was if it wasn't for Emily who came to tell me that my boss had already gone to the office without me, I was instantly in a state of distraught as I began to fear that I was going to be in big trouble just after I had managed to save my job the night before, Emily dropped the message and also added that Madame was requesting for my presence as well before she left the room hurriedly.
Madame was in her study cooped up with newspapers and articles, she had her reading glasses on and that gave her the look of a stern teacher who was about to punish her student, the study door was open but I knocked anyways, she raised her head and she beckoned for me to sit in the chair that was opposite her desk. I sat there in silence with my heart beating quite fast because I could already feel that I was in deep trouble since Madame was aware that I had not gone to the office with her son.
"Good morning, Madame." I greeted her as soon as she dropped the newspaper that she was holding, she looked at me with an expressionless face and she spoke in a calm but demanding tone.
"Why are you still in the premises? Shouldn't you be at work by now?" she asked the two questions as one.
"I woke up pretty late and before I could-" I stopped talking when I saw her raise her hand, I was in for another talk about 'perpetual lateness is the key to unemployment'.
"After going on a date last night, why wouldn't your body be tired?"
It was more of a statement than a question, I knew where she was driving at but I knew better than to argue with her.
"Sorry ma'am." I apologized with my head bowed, she made a sound that sounded like a scoff.
"Sorry? I am not the one that you should be apologizing to even though that you owe this your current job to me, your boss was angry this morning because he was dressed up for work but his P.A was still dozing her life off on the bed, he left in that same anger and the more time you spend here, the higher your chances of getting fired."
As soon as she said that I got up and I made for the door.
"That is not the main reason why I called you here, I actually wanted you to give this to your father as you are going home for the weekend."
She brought out a small envelope and she handed it over to me.
I was trying so hard not to rip it open and just read out the contents but that would get me fired for sure.
"It is the duplicate copy of our agreement, I have the original with me and he should hold on to this one dearly because if he misplaces it, we can either claim ownership of you or just dump you to be with the rest of them so you better tell him to keep this safe. Is that clear?"
"Yes ma'am." I nodded my head and I put the envelope in my bag, I had no urge to open it anymore.
"I think Raymond should be back, go and look for him and tell him that I said; he should take you to the office with the car… I can't stand seeing the P.A of my son take public transport." She asserted that last part with so much pride that I had to admire it.
I was very grateful that Madame had not flared at me but I was already aware of who was going to give me a tough time.
"Good morning, Raymond" I greeted the driver who was cleaning another car, he turned to look at me and he gave me an understanding smile.
"You are in a fickle, the boss is so mad." he told me this heart-wrenching information with a big grin and a cackle of laughter.
I rolled my eyes because even the heavens might open up and an angel might come and tell me the same thing.
What was the thing about his anger that was so scary anyways?
