"Who's there? Hello....?...is anyone there?" Dana asked with a terrified voice when she noticed someone was following her and there was no one else around the dark path she sometimes took as a short cut home. With no reply she quicken her foot steps, as she increase her pace she heard someone walk hurriedly behind her. When she turned back she saw a man in a hoody walking really quickly to her.
Thanks to the effect of adrenaline she started running, with common sense she knew he wasn't following her for a good reason. Millions of thoughts ran through her head at the same time. "Had the Sisterhood found her? Or perhaps master Li Zichen had sent him? The police department abroad?" Whatever the case maybe she knew it wouldn't be good so she ran with all her might whilst thinking of where to go because if they didn't already know where she stayed running home would endanger Gu Xixi and she didn't want to drag anyone close to her into any mess again, she had already lost someone close to her and she couldn't stand loosing someone else.
For what felt like a century on Dana's lungs she kept running frequently looking back to check whether her was still after her, every time she looked he drew even closer. Although her running skills were pretty good complimented by her long legs she was already tired from the day's work with Miss Su trying her possible best to get on her nerves with repeated silly errands the HR manager kept overlooking despite the fact that miss Su wasn't even in their department! According to the gossip Dana hadn't asked for, the HR manager liked Miss Su which she knew quite well and took advantage of his feelings to get her way whenever she wanted.
In a split second Dana fell to the ground spraining her ankle not minding the sharp pain she picked herself up limping as quickly as she could untill she bumped into something hard, she could hear her heart jump out of her chest... Thinking she had already been caught by who ever was after her she squeezed her eyes shut waiting for the worst after all she had been in countless situations like this one the only difference is that she wasn't the fearless hopefully girl she was 12years back who believed in everything she had now come to hate. She was now Zheng Dana an empty soul who doesn't even know why she hadn't committed suicide yet but kept living even without a purpose, why she was holding on, she couldn't explain and now she was even running for her life, she actually felt real fear like she used to years back.
Slowly a two hands shifted her behind the figure she had bumped into, when she opened her eyes she saw the person she had last expected. Feng Linx!! The whole week she had barely seen him and now he was here.
Dana didn't know when tears started to trickle down her cheeks as she watched him tackle the man that had been pursing her down.
"How dare you scare her huh?! Why not go for someone your fucking size?!! "
Linx yelled as he violently kicked his stomach, when he saw how frightened Dana was when she bumped into him, he became so angry, it was like someone else replaced him for the first time in years after promising not to get into fights like he always used to do in highschool he forgot his promise and was beating the hell out of the bastard that dared scare his woman... But wait was she his woman? He had nearly blurted out "how dare you touch my woman" before his brain temporarily released him form the spell he was under letting him think out his own words.
If it wasn't for Dana who intervened and asked that he let the guy at least breath for a while he would have probably killed him. The fierce look he had whilst running after Dana earlier had died off and was now replaced with horror as he watched Linx run his hand through his hair in terror.
He looked so good even when furious but those looks made him even more Scarry it was as though he was a demon when he had been beating him up a moment ago, the stalker thought to himself as he stared at Linx's who's eyes soften as he looked at Dana's crying face. Seizing the opportunity to run he stood up quietly despite the pain he felt from every angle which made he fear Linx the more cause he was a black belt Matchal art bearer plus his vigorous training due to the dirty jobs he did for people so how a delicate looking guy despite his great body built could beat him up still marveled him.
"Stop there" he head a serious voice command. Without hesitation he stopped, whatever it was he was ready to do so as to leave alive the money for the job wasn't that good anyway.
"Who sent you after my girl..." Catching the weird stare gave him he awkwardly corrected himself "I mean who sent you to her" oh dear his brain had finally betrayed him despite all his conscious effort.
"Hu Chaoxiang..."
The guy responded which surprised Dana
"Hu Chaoxiang?!!" Dana repeated as if trying to convince her brain. She knew he was a lowly scum bag but to think she had taken his threat lightly and now he went as fear as this...
"He only asked that I scare you a bit, I promise I wasn't going to hurt you, please let me go" the guy begged Linx who looked between him and Dana, he looked confuse and he could tell Linx probably didn't know who Hu Chaoxiang is.
Linx turned to Dana who seemed to be in deep thought and a state of shock.
"Who's Hu Chaoxiang? And why's he after you? He asked looking so serious Dana couldn't tell why he suddenly seemed that way, not wanting to complicate things by tell him about the whole thing and the major reason she had taken a day off that Monday she quickly dismissed the matter.
"He's no one... " She replied adjusting her right foot so she wouldn't put strain on her already sprained and hurting left ankle.
"Is he your ex?" Linx asked with forrowed brows. He knew he was crossing his boundaries but right now he didn't really care about that and like always he said exactly how he felt.
"That's not your business " Dana replied glancing over at the fading image of the guy who had been after her, looking for a distraction away from Linx's annoying questions. She wasn't one to explain anything that concerned her to anyone since no one really cared anyway, but what was up with Senior Linx anyway? She thought as she bit her lower lips trying to numb the surging pain radiating from her foot.
Dana's words caused Linx to turn back and start walking away but something warm held his hand and when he turned back he met with Dana's sad eyes, it was almost as though she felt sorry but that wasn't the Zheng Dana he knew, she still looked scared and he couldn't help boil up again. Suddenly he felt her hug him, slowly wrapping her hands around him as she let out low sobs.
"Thank you for been here" she softly whispered into his chest. Dana had thought to ask what Linx was doing there when he first showed up but then again it didn't matter, even though she had refused to admit it this was the third time he was coming to her rescue and so when he annoyingly turned to leave she held him back without even knowing why she did and now she was hugging him?! As worry and reality started to build in her head she quickly shut it out. Even if it is for this few moments she let her heart lead her for the first time in years she didn't listen to her mind and just enjoyed his warm embrace, drawing in how he smelt and damn he smelt so good she wouldn't mind waking up everyday to that scent.
Shit what is she thinking??! She asked herself as she tried to pull from the hug but this time it was her who was in more shock as Linx softly pulled her into him not willing to let go.
The past few days Minde walked Dana home every evening after her day's work not minding his busy schedule thereby making his work load to pile up, as usual he was supposed to walk Dana home that Saturday evening but after waiting for an hour an half Dana decided to go home feeling both angry and worried.
She had texted and called him over eight times but he kept ending her call, her day had been a mess with Miss Su constantly trying to bully her in front of everyone. Initially when Dana was shown her desk in the HR unit Miss Su had insisted that her chair be switched with Dana's claiming that her's was spoiled. Dana kept tolerating her tantrums and words, if she lost her temper Miss Su was sure going to end up in the hospital for months and she didn't want to risk going to jail because that would mean having cops around her business so she just took everything Miss Su did and avoided her which had annoyed Miss Su even more.
Bingwen (Minde) was the only person she even spent time with that didn't end up annoying her, all Linx did was taunt her and give instructions lately he's mood's been pretty sour and unlike him he didn't talk as much as he used to and just decided to take the week off and so since Dana wasn't working with Linx at that point she had to work in the office which she pretty much hated.
Far off Minde watched the whole scene unravel, he had wanted to rush over and give the guy who had been following Dana a good beating but when he saw Linx come to her rescue he stopped himself, he didn't want Linx to recognize him, his real identity would have been exposed but he still stayed around in case Linx couldn't handle the guy alone he would rush in regardless of the situation after that he couldn't watch his brother and the girl that had been showing up in his dreams and racing through his mind all the time get hurt over a lie he told, she might get angry and stop talking to him which he would rather have than have her get hurt. After the fight was over he was about to leave when he caught sight of Dana pull Linx into a hug... He was so hurt and angry. Angry at himself for making her wait for so long which made her come back home late and alone giving that silly guy the chance to hurt her but he just couldn't leave the office early some foreign investors had showed up a day earlier than he had expected them and so he was stuck in a 6hour meeting with them and when he came out he discovered the missed calls and texts from Dana and had immediately hurried to come see her without even changing his suit.
Minde's heart felt too heavy he could no longer watch as he stared at Linx carry Dana on his back home after they had broken the hug. The little smile Dana had gracing her face as Linx walked through the dimly lit walk way felt like daggers stabbed on his heart, he wanted to get angry at her, but he just couldn't he didn't even have the right to.
Quietly he walked out of the corner he had been standing, pulling out his phone he called someone.
"I need you to find out who Hu Chaoxiang is and bring him to me" Minde instructed before ending the call.
