As he was walking around the village, searching for the way out, he remembered the mails earlier.
Ranz decided to check them.
The first message contains only greetings from the Devs. After reading the message, he immediately went to the next message.
The next message contains a beginner gift pack, which contains three types of items. Ranz immediately opened the gift pack and took its contents.
The first item was a normal tier [Healing Elixir] that could return 100 health points to your life. The second was a [Coin Pouch] containing 1,000 crownies (the in-game main currency). And finally a normal tier [Logging Ax]. As the name suggests, its main use was to cut down trees.
Based on what he read beforehand, this game was not just about killing monsters and fighting other players. You could also do things like building houses and so on.
After collecting the items, Ranz hid them in his inventory. Currently, his inventory could store 100 weight points. It looked like each item had corresponding weight points that represent their weight.
Just like the Logging Ax, it weighs 5 points. The Healing Elixir had only 1 point. A pouch of crownies also had only 1 point in its weight.
Of all the items currently stored in his inventory, only the normal tier greatsword had higher weight points. Its total weight points were 25 points!
The real name of his greatsword was Iron Blade. It had a wide-body and pointed at the end. Its length was over 5 feet.
Ranz looked at the stats of his Iron Blade.
Attack Power: +15
Durability: 100%
Ranz took the sword and he strapped it to his back. After doing so, 25 weight points were returned to his inventory.
Regardless, just as he expected, he noticed the sword was truly heavy.
He next looked at the third message.
[You received a reward for completing a special mission.]
That is the content of the message.
'Completed? Did I complete it? I thought I failed after getting hurt,' Ranz thought.
To Ranz's knowledge, item ranks depend on the background color of the item icon.
Their order is, white for normal, green for common, blue for uncommon, purple for epic, yellow for the legend, orange for mythic, and red for soul-tier.
However, the gift pack in this mail has a black shadowy background.
Ranz couldn't understand but he felt goosebumps as he stared at it.
'What kind of reward is in it?' He couldn't help but ask himself this.
Ranz pressed the [Collect] option that was in the message. The gift pack immediately entered his inventory.
He tapped the item and the [Open] option appeared. His chest throbbed harder. 'Damn, I'm so excited about what will come out,' he muttered in his mind.
Ranz then tapped [Open]. Although he could also use Voice Navi to execute his command, sometimes he was just comfortable with using the Touch Navi.
However, after he pressed the [Open] option, a prompt appeared saying, his level was not enough to open it. He must first reach Level 10.
"I guess there's nothing I can do about it. I need to raise my level first."
He read the last remaining message.
[You received a Title: Formidable Novice Player]
"Woah, a title. Isn't it too early to get something like this?" Ranz chuckled.
He clicked the option [Collect] to receive it. Then he followed the steps on how to use it.
After equipping it, a [Formidable Novice Player] title appeared over his head. It shines a bit so it's definitely not a typical title.
Ranz also noticed that the title gives additional power-up to all attributes and his Charisma.
Before leaving, Ranz checked his status window.
A yellow-orange holographic screen floated in front of him. It contains his stats.
Name: Jack No Ripper
Level: 0
Race: Dwarf
Class: Warrior
Class Rank: Apprentice
Title: Formidable Novice Player
Meridian Power: 154
Stamina: 98%/100%
——————
Exp: 0%/100%
Ranz was amazed to see that he already had 154 Meridian Power.
He started walking while looking at his other stats and familiarising the status screen. There were a few players he encountered along the way but Ranz didn't pay attention to them.
Others were distracted by his glowing title but no one dared approach him, especially when they saw that he seemed busy with whatever he was looking at in his floating window.
Based on his knowledge, Meridian Power was the total value of his basic stats and the total powers of external increase such as equipment, titles, and etcetera. Aside from that, each time he leveled up his Meridian Power increased 20 points.
After checking his whole stats, he closed all the tabs. He took a deep breath before turning around. He noticed that he was on the side of the road.
He also saw other players around but not so many. Some of them were talking to NPCs or Non-Playable Characters.
Aside from players, he also saw a few houses around. They were mostly made of wood and stone.
Ranz noticed a few novice players like him staring at him.
'Eh? What's with them?' He followed their line of sight and discovered the reason. 'Ah, so that's why. They are looking at my title. This title is gathering a lot of attention. Anyway, I have to proceed.'
Along the way, he met someone asking him some questions. The guy sent a friend request to him. Since he wasn't actually against socializing, he accepted his friend request.
He walked around the village to familiarize its layout and to note all the NPCs' names. Since it wasn't his original plan to land in this village, he had no idea what was in here.
After a few minutes of wandering around, he learned that the village was bigger than he thought, so he changed his initial plan.
"Maybe I'll go hunt some monsters first to raise my level."
