Chapter 3 - Self-Improvement

While waiting for his free Advance Neuralink Device to arrive, he decided to familiarize the game first through uploaded videos from game streamers.

He looked at and memorized those tricks and tips from players who provide walkthroughs about the game.

He didn't want to be careless because his future income depends on it!

Every video of the players, famous or not, he never missed watching. Seriously, he only got more excited as he watched them.

Because the game was still new, he was sure that he would have many newbie player competitors. According to the videos, the competition for the low-level monsters would be difficult for the newbies because there would be more players waiting to kill them than the respawn rate of the mobs. It was a race of time whoever could kill them first.

This was indeed what he imagined as most MMORPGs lately were like that. Maybe it was to give players awareness of how difficult a resource war is.

Especially since all nations at these times were heading towards a more modern future. It also means that the resources needed were unimaginable.

In the next panel, Ranz was shocked by what he found out. He even shouted from his seat.

"What? The stats also depend on the status of the player itself? Not just in character?" This was the first time he had heard anything like this. That the body condition of the person playing plays an important role in his character stats in the game.

This full-dive VR game seems to be very reliant on reality compared to cell phone and pc games and even to earlier VR games.

"It's very, very realistic!" He couldn't help but scream with joy.

"I mean, if you're lame in real life, your Strength Attributes are definitely low at the beginning of the game. So if I want to have a high starting Strength Attribute and have an upper hand over my peers, I just have to increase the muscles in my body…" he stopped for a moment to think and glanced at his own body.

Unfortunately, his body was very unfortunate. After he paused the video, he stood up and walked away from his desk. He stopped in front of the mirror.

He took off the jacket he was wearing to see the curve of his body.

He wanted to cry at the sight because his body was out of shape. It's just like a stickman! W-Well, what else did he expect? It was the result of his depression in recent days.

There are even circles visible below his eyes. "So these were the reasons why everyone in school was staring at me like I'm kind of a ghost in their eyes. Although I noticed their unusual gazes at me, I decided to not mind them."

"Never mind, I just need to change my lifestyle from now on. I need self-improvement. To do that, I need Self-Respect!"

As he returned to his desk, he remembered something.

"Hmn… it must be also the reason that more and more people are jogging in the plaza every morning and afternoon. I also noticed that some of my classmates' academic scores had improved. Their scores on our quizzes had increased."

"According to the video, Intelligence Attribute is based on your academic skill. Intelligence Attribute is important for your character to have high mana and magic attack. A player who wanted to play as a mage needed this attribute. They must start studying from now on. Hehe…"

As Ranz sat on his chair, he asked in the air.

"How strong will geniuses like Alberto Heinstein, Sir Isaac Mewton, Nicholas Terizla, and others, be if they play this game?"

They might become the top Archmages right at the start of the game.

Ranz immediately shook his head because it was hard to say the answer.

Nonetheless, the system of this game was great because it encouraged all players to be active and be aware of their health conditions and education. This was one of the pros of this game that Ranz felt satisfied with.

Ranz mulled for something. He was asking himself what class he wanted to play when he played the game.

Warrior? Mage? Archer? Assassin?

These were the basic classes that a player could choose at the start of the game.

There were also advanced classes a player could get if a player could win when they play the Roulette of Fate mini-game. But they needed royal coins for that.

Royal Coin was one of the currencies in the game. Also known as paid coins. They were converted through real money.

Anyway, the advanced classes that a player could win in the Roulette of Fate game is Healer, Tamer, Summoner, and Gunslinger.

He also heard rumors about legendary classes. But when he searched about it, he could find nothing on the internet. Whoever was the author of such a rumor, probably has a reason for spreading it.

Regardless,

To immediately begin his self-retribution, he immediately searched for the keyword —How to become strong physically—

The result appeared after he pressed the search button.

The results came in the right order. The first step was bodyweight exercise for at least 20 minutes every day. Next, is a high-protein diet, followed by weight training thrice a week. And lastly, a balanced lifestyle.

These are the steps Ranz needed to accomplish if he wants to become strong physically. Or if he wanted to play as a warrior class.

Since he has not yet been able to decide which of the basic classes he will choose, he first thought of improving his real-life attributes so that somehow just in case he plays the game his attributes are already higher than his peers.

So Ranz immediately started planning his activities. He made a schedule for himself.

Every morning Ranz could be seen exercising. People who knew him, especially his neighbors, were surprised at his sudden change.

On the first day, he felt better. However, the next day, it didn't go well. He experienced physical pain. But that didn't stop him. He knew the pain was because of muscle soreness. It was a side effect of the stress put on muscles when you exercise.

This could also be a sign that he has become stronger.

There were many ways to relieve it. So Ranz wasn't as worried. It only motivates him to continue. After all, his bright future was at stake here! So he needed to persevere.

At night, Ranz could be seen studying. He initially had a better grade, but that wasn't enough for him to just ignore his study. He needed to improve to increase his Int Attribute. Even a 1-point increase was fine as long as he improved.

The next day, the soreness in his muscle finally went away. He didn't waste the opportunity and continued his activities. Each day, Ranz could be seen so dedicated in what he was doing.

His neighbors started spreading out some rumors regarding him. That he was preparing for the Olympics. He burst out laughing when it reached his ears. Tears could even be seen at the corners of his eyes.
