Chapter 4 - Advance Neuralink Device

Thud!

"Ugh!" Ranz groaned. It was a rare event to fall from his bed.

He squirmed because of the searing pain in his back. He reflexively massaged it. When the pain subsided a little, he slowly opened his eyes.

These past days, all he did was all sorts of training.

Ranz used the strength of his arms to get up. He glanced around and saw his smartphone at the edge of his bed.

He grabbed it and checked the time as usual.

August 10, 2131, Sunday, 3:31 AM, was displayed.

The time has finally come.

Tok! Tok! Tok!

At exactly 10 AM someone was knocking on his door. Ranz, who was anxiously waiting, rushed to open it.

After opening, he was greeted by, "Amazing Express Deli— wahh!!!"

The delivery man, who looked like in his 30's, looked startled when he saw him.

After waking up from a fall at 3 AM, he couldn't sleep again, so he was awake till now. It was the reason why dark circles could be seen below his eyes.

It might be also the reason that the delivery man in front of him was looking at him like he was a walking dead who have crawled up from his grave.

"Uh, goodmorning. I'm a normal human, so rest assured I won't bite, haha," Ranz greeted jokingly.

"….."

The delivery man snapped from his stupor and sigh in relief.

"Goodmorning! This is A-amazing express delivery."

Ranz smiled and nodded. He needed to act calm, albeit deep inside he was clamoring out of excitement.

"You are Ranz Triton?" He asked him.

"Yes, I am."

"Good."

The delivery man quickly handed him a piece of paper and a ballpen.

"Here please, put your signature here!"

"Okay."

He took the paper and ballpen from him and wrote his signature. 'This is bad! I could barely control my excitement,' he was so happy and super excited.

Ranz quickly wrote his signature. In an instant, it was done instantly. "Here, thank you so much."

He returned it to the delivery man who immediately accepted it.

"Yes," the delivery man forced a smile. He tore up the copy and handed it to Ranz.

After handing the receipt, the delivery man said goodbye. Ranz just showed a wry smile. He saw on the receipt that the company of his previous game had already paid for it.

He was secretly grateful.

In front of him stood a large box that he thought the size was just right to fit on the door of his room.

He carefully pulled it inside. He took it to the living room and there he would open it. Because it was taped properly, he had to use a cutter.

He took a cutter from the kitchen. When he came back with a cutter in his hand, he started carefully tearing the tapes. It took him more than 10 minutes before he dismantled all the items out of the box.

Its contents were an unusual gaming chair, a helmet, and a metal mat as well as small screws and manuals.

To his knowledge, the metal mat acts as a landscape moderator. Provides a realistic landscape experience within the game. The gaming chair is not an ordinary gaming chair. It has many surprising functions. The helmet served as a brain reader, data analyzer, etcetera. All the information would be transmitted to and fro of your brain.

Because Ranz had long studied how to set it up, he was able to do it quickly. He carried them into his bedroom one by one. He first laid on the floor the metal mat called the Landscape Mat. It measures 6x6 ft.

Next, he installed the newly assembled gaming chair or better known as the Calibrator Chair. He laid it on the Landscape Mat. Under the gaming chair legs, he didn't find any small wheels. Instead, Ranz saw magnetic circles.

Six circular magnets were positioned at the end of each foot of the gaming chair. The magnets did not stand like wheels. They lie where their flat surface itself was applied to the Landscape Mat. There's a reason why magnets were there and not wheels. But Ranz didn't want to go into detail about it.

Right under the gaming chair seat, was hidden a large battery. Right, battery. Because it was rechargeable.

He connected the helmet, better known Neural Helmet, to the Calibrator Chair using two chords.

While looking at the fully assembled Advance Neuralink Device, "Wah, so pretty," he couldn't stop himself from admiring it.

According to the manual, it must be charged for a whole day before use.

After setting up everything, Ranz let it charged for a whole day, following the manual. Even if he wanted to start the game right away, he didn't want to ignore the safety features. Since it couldn't be used yet, Ranz just used his time cleaning and putting away the useless trash.

After cleaning, he took memorable pictures of it from different angles.

'Maybe I'll send it to NightBee,' Ranz thought after watching all the pictures on his phone.

A few minutes later, he got a reply from her.

>>NightBee: [Wow, congrats FC, I'm looking forward to that street food as will as seeing you inside the game! (Heart-shaped eyes emoji)]

Although he said he would treat her, he also knew it was less likely to happen. He didn't even know her in real life.

Because it was Sunday, they had no class. And even though the next day was Monday, they still had no class because their teachers had an important meeting to attend. So he could use the whole time tomorrow to play it.

Ranz went outside to shop for necessary supplies. As he was walking along the street, he noticed more and more advertisements for that game. A short clip of popular characters showing their stunts inside the game.

Some people could be seen gathering in front of those billboards.

Ranz stopped for a moment and watched along with other people who were fascinated by the short clip advertisement.

On the billboard, a female character with long ponytailed blond pink hair could be seen. She was wearing elegant white and red full body armor. In her hand, she swung the large red sword at the ground.

The ground was plowed as if a landmine had exploded.

"Look, that's Arbitrator Arthuria. Look at her character. She looks very strong," said one of the onlookers.

"Yeah, right. I watched her one-on-one interview last night on a TV show. She said she was a solo player at the beginning. But she realized it was harder to be a solo player in this game. So when the Rolling Judgment Guild invited her, she didn't hesitate any longer and immediately joined them. She directly became one of their deputies, a title second only to their leader. Now she is one of the enforcers of peace and order inside the game along with her guildmates."

"Wow! The Rolling Judgement Guild? I heard they are one of the strongest guilds across the three continents! They are like superheroes who punish bullies inside the game!"

Ranz was quite shocked when he heard them. It was the first time he heard about it.

'Peace and Order inside a game? Seriously? Are they applying real-life laws inside a game?'

'That's lame…'
