Whatever else Ranz said, he could do nothing anymore. He was in the next step already, and there was no way to return back to the previous step.
'Well, it's just an IGN (In-game name). Almost all online games have a way to change that.'
Now he was in front of four starting weapons from which he needed to choose one.
[Great Sword] [Staff] [Bow] [Knives]
Ranz thought earnestly.
'The great sword symbolizes being a Warrior, the staff is for the mage, the bow is for the Archer, and finally, knives are for the Assassin. These four are the main classes that can be selected at the beginning of the game. But that doesn't mean it can't be changed.
In fact, when the player reaches level 10, he will be given the privilege to switch classes that he thinks he prefers. Or he may not change, it just depends on his preference.'
Although he was hesitant at first about which of them he would choose, now he had decided which of the four he thought was a good choice to be his main weapon.
Ranz didn't even bother to think long because he already had a choice. And he would never regret it. He thought of the four options, this weapon was the most practical weapon compared to all.
So he immediately mentioned the name of the weapon.

[Great Sword]
Ranz chose the path of the valiant soldier, the warrior. After selecting the Great Sword, the scene immediately changed, and he was taken to the next step which he was utterly surprised by.
Kaboom!
"Wah!"
Ranz screamed because of the sudden deafening sound from the loud explosion that happened right next to him.
Reflexively, he used his hand to cover his face for fear that he would be hit.
His surroundings were very chaotic. He was surrounded by warriors from different races. They wore a wide variety of clothing, from the ordinary tunic dress to the fancy full body armor.
Aside from the warriors, he also noticed grotesque figures of various sizes and frightening looks.
The surroundings and sky seemed to be shrouded in strange miasma. And all around him, everyone was clashing.
It looks like he was suddenly sent to the middle of the battlefield. But, for some inexplicable reason, he didn't even feel anything. Even though the explosion earlier took place right next to him, he was not hurt.
In the next second, he noticed that something seemed to be wrong. Not even one of the monsters came to attack him.
Ranz immediately remembered what a game vlogger had said— that before the game starts, you will find yourself in the middle of the battlefield. The game vlogger also reminded all beginner players not to panic because this was just a short cinematic video. However, he was still surprised.
Anyway, if he hadn't watched that video he would have definitely thought he was actually involved in this fight, especially since he was holding in his hands the chosen large weapon.
He might have hit the scary monster in front of him with his weapon if he didn't know that this was just a short cinematic introduction video.
Suddenly Ranz heard a woman's voice as if the speaker was just behind his ear.
"About 2000 years ago, the whole world was plunged into chaos. Brave warriors all over the world took their arms and marched towards the desolate land to fight for glory and to put an end— "
Ranz didn't finish the cinematic video, even though the narrator's voice was very soothing, because he was so excited to start the game!
After he skipped it, another scene greeted him.
Whoosh~
Along with the strange sound that seemed to come from the strong current of the wind, was the strange sensation that seemed to want to separate his skin from his bones.
Ranz quickly opened his eyes and exclaimed at what he saw.
"Whaarrt? Wherrrramai?!" Shocked, he asked out loud.
He had difficulty speaking due to the strong pressure of the air entering his mouth.
He felt like he was falling.
'No! Wait! It doesn't just look like—! Because I'm really falling!' He screamed.
Though struggling, he forced himself to look around.
As expected, he could only see a sea of clouds around him and the beautiful blue sky. His only question is, why is it so sudden? No warning at all?!
Ranz doubted the reason why he suddenly ended up in his current situation without a warning was because he skipped the cinematic scene earlier.
Nonetheless, he was falling from a very high place.
WAAAHHHH!!!
Due to the force of the pressure caused by his plunge, he had difficulty balancing his body.
'Tsk, I need to control my body properly.'
Ranz remembered the video he watched about skydiving. About how to be in the right position when you're in the air and falling fast.
'Right! The Arch position!' Ranz shouted in his mind when he remembered that.
(The Arch - this is when you fall into an arched position with your navel pointing to the ground and your chin facing forward. It helps to find stability while falling at a high altitude.)
Ranz immediately mimics the so-called The Arch position. Fortunately, after several trials and struggles, he was able to control his body in the air.
When his fall had stabilized, he saw that he was getting closer and closer to the ground. He predicted that his current distance from the ground was 6000 feet above the ground, but that was not certain.
In his sight, a notification text box suddenly appeared.
According to the notification, there were no manual tutorials needed because the basic information entered the brain on the spot and the players would know them immediately.
Just as the notification said, an information entered his brain. All he had to do was recite it to activate.
It was like magic that in an instant, he knew immediately what he was going to do.
Weird, no?
"Altimeter, activate!"
A holographic altimeter appeared on the side, near the center, of his vision. This object measures his altitude from the ground.
Ranz found that his prediction earlier did not deviate from his current altitude.
Moments later he received a new notification. But, it's not like before.
Troiin!
[Special Mission: Safe landing. Special reward awaits upon completion.]
'What? Special mission? Really?' Ranz was surprised to receive a mission this early. And it was a special mission to boot!
No information was given directly to his brain, but a floating message placed in a transparent rectangular box could be seen.
However, before talking about that safe landing, he must first find a town that he can land on. Towns have signs. The roof of their town hall is red and circle.
So he just had to look for the big red circle from above.
For a few seconds,
Ding!
A sign that another piece of information had entered his brain.
"Minimize mission panel, activate," as he pronounced it, the floating rectangular box immediately disappeared. He could summon it back if he wanted.
It looks like he needs to pronounce the word 'activate' to process his commands properly.
Ding!
New information entered his brain again. He did not hesitate and immediately took advantage of it.
"Map, activate!"
After Ranz recited it, a holographic screen floated in front of his face. But this time, the box is not rectangular, but square.
This screen shows the map of the whole world. But almost all the places were still dark, meaning he had yet to unexplored them. The only nice thing about this map is that you can see the names of the places. Well, it was just like a real map.
Ranz checked where he was at now. He found out he was on top of a place called Pale Valley. It was located on the southwest side of the Human Faction or Western Continent. And it was surrounded by six borders from six different places that surround it.
Ranz just kept plunging down. He could hardly count how many times he had penetrated the clouds.
But for real, the view from above was very nice. He also saw flying beasts in the distance. Their appearance, all he could say, was strange and unearthly.
Ranz didn't know how beginner skydivers felt at their first skydive, but he strongly believed that they felt the same thrill as he felt right now. This world was so real that anyone would hesitate to believe whether it was really a world within the game or the real world itself.
If it weren't for the game elements he was seeing, maybe he would also have second thoughts what to believe.
Meanwhile, from the floating Altimeter, Ranz saw that he was already 3000 feet above the ground. When he saw what he was looking for, he wasted no more time.
"Landing mode, activate!"
Immediately a round and transparent object with a pair of wings enveloped his entire body. His descent also weakened, then now he seemed to be floating and slowly descending.
He saw on the map the name of the village below him.
[Lightwood Village]
