Twang! Twang!
Twang! Twang!
Twang! Twang!
The turrets continuously fired arrows, arching in midair towards the goblins. One after another, the unlucky goblins hit by it fell to the ground and were even getting stepped on by their comrades.
"Judging by the numbers of the goblins and by the fire rate of the turrets, an estimated 70-80 percent of the goblins would be able to reach the village. D-do you think we can win, Vince?" A player next to Vince said it in a worried tone.
Vince squinted his eyes.
'Yes… is what I wanted to say, but unfortunately, our winning is bleak. We can only count on miracles,' Vince thought inwardly. But that wasn't his reply. He opened his mouth and said, "Let's not lose hope!"
It was the only thing he could say in their current situation. They were like trapped mice. If it was only him, Vince could actually escape here if he wanted. He could log-off, then come back tomorrow when his pet regained enough energy to fly back. But the reason he chose not to escape was that it was also a great opportunity.
Experienced players would do the same as he did. Those who want to become stronger faster must know how to sacrifice and take advantage of such a situation.
Such a disaster was actually a blessing in disguise for the experienced players.
Boom!
Under the thunderous sky, the attack became more intense when the goblins reached 25 meters away from the village entrance.
It was the exact distance for archers and mages.
The players along with some village guards started raining their range attacks. More and more goblins fell victims.
The number of village guards was only 10 while the number of players was 23. So the total number of defenders was only 33. Too low compared to the total number of goblins that totaled over one hundred.
However, the excitement could be seen on the faces of the players.
"Hehe! Good that I came here! This place is like a free farm of XP!" One of the archers exclaimed in delight as the XP continually filled his XP bar.
Soon, he leveled up.
"Woohoo!" He shouted happily.
"Hahahaha! This is so fun!" A mage laughed for the same reason as the former.
The short-range players could only looked at them enviously. They too… wanted those XPs.
However, everyone's excitement did not last long.
"Watch out!" Vince shouted.
Everyone's eyes widened at that moment and they quickly glanced around to find a place to hide. Something came raining at them at that moment.
Thump! Thump!
Thump! Thump!
They fell everywhere. The victims, whether players or NPC, who was hit by it could do nothing but screamed in pain. "Ouch!" Light particles could be seen flying and disappearing a second later. Those particles of light were the signs of damage.
Since there was no surrounding wall in this village, the area was very open. And there was no place for them to hide but their arms to protect their heads. Others tried to dodge, but still got hit. Vince, on the other hand, used his shield to protect himself.
Some of the goblins were throwing rocks at them. As a result, their attack was halted for fear of getting hit. The goblins got a chance to move forward.
It didn't take long for the goblins to hoard around those barricades. Some tried to climb and others circled them.
"Gobo!"
"Gobo!"
The goblins were overjoyed at that moment. Due to the flying rocks, the offense of the defenders had stopped. The goblins also attacked the two turrets and they quickly destroyed them.
Two village guards driving the turrets jumped. However, in their jump, a lot of goblins were waiting for them below.
"Help — guh!"
Using their Stone Daggers, they stab the two poor village guards.
"Arrgh!"
Their lives did not last long and they died instantly. What happened to them at the hands of the goblins was very tragic.
"Gwar-har-har!" The goblins grinned hideously.
"GOBO!"
They screamed after destroying the two turrets and slaying the two guards.
Their time had come!
Looking at the situation, Vince clenched his teeth. He didn't anticipate the goblins to do that. He thought they would only force their way to move forward. Who would have thought that they would use stones and rocks? Vince was so careless. And now, he could no longer calculate the situation correctly.
Because of those rocks, they'd lost their attack momentum.
Tsk!
Now he has no choice but to fight to the death. He still looks like a failed tactician. He even failed to predict that such a situation would be possible.
No... This was not his fault! The time limit to prepare for the upcoming attack was just too short and the resources he had in hand were so little.
Vince bite his lip. He knew he was just making an excuse. This should not be how a tactician thinks.
There was a big reason why Vince chose to confront these monsters. He was an aspiring war tactician. So for him, this kind of attack was a good opportunity to experience it.
Vince raised the weapon in the air.
"Everyone! Prepare to engage!" He would have nothing he could do anymore but fight.
"O— Oohhh!" Dull response of the players.
Yet, that was all there was to it because no one followed Vince when he was preparing to attack. Noticing something wasn't right, he stopped and looked behind. "What…?" His eyes widened in disbelief. He saw his comrades trembling with fear. None of them took a step forward.
They couldn't help but be nervous and afraid of the opponent's numbers. They wanted to flee. However, even if they wanted to run away, there was nothing they could do now because it was already too late. They were already surrounded by those goblins.
"Hihihihihi!"
"Hihihihihi!"
"Hihihihihi!"
Their sinister peals of laughter invoked more fear to the bottom of their core, especially since their looks were truly frightening.
"This is bad, Vince. No one wants to fight anymore," Vince's companion whispered tremblingly.
Veins in cross-shaped surfaces on Vince's face. "What are you waiting for!? ATTACK!!!" He shouted again.
But, instead of rushing, they hide even more, vying for the middle spot, fearing that they would be the first to be attacked by the goblins.
"Hihihihihihihi!"
The laughter of the goblins only intensified when they saw the frightened prey.
A muscular goblin stepped in front of Vince.
"GOBOOOHHH !!!" It shouted as it raised its sword in hand.
