Chapter 26 - [ C ] - Faith's Sacrifice

Faith and Merla went to the basement to visit their master. Shikura, upon seeing them, hissed like a true vampire and charged at them. Both women were startled by his sudden actions, but the chains kept him from reaching them. He kept on trying to move forward despite his limits, going against all logic. He had two sharp teeth, something he didn't have before. His eyes were not those of a human, but those of a bloodthirsty killer.

"Kkkkkrrrr!!" Shikura hissed, drooling.

Merla: "Master Sakume…I b-brought you food." She handed him the tray of food, but as expected, he knocked it away like it's crap. "He doesn't want food. I guess only one thing can help calm him down, which is blood."

Faith can't help but feel bad for Sakume. This person is definitely not Sakume, but it is the same person. The man she fell in love with has now been reduced to this. She felt a knot in her heart, and it's an extremely uncomfortable feeling that cannot be overlooked. Somewhere deep down inside is the real Sakume. He has to be there somewhere.

Faith wandered back and forth in the dark room, thinking about the one person she cares about. Something about this just does not feel right. She went to the basement, hoping that no one will see her. Once she entered the room, she saw Sakume sleeping peacefully on the floor. Is this the real Sakume? He looks so peaceful, but when he wakes up, will he be a bloodsucking vampire like Dracula?

The chained man woke up and immediately ran at her. Faith quickly stepped back in surprise. Sakume screamed and hissed and tried to claw at her. Those chains were made of metal and it's impossible to break through.

"Sakume…"

He showed no response to her words or her presence at all. He just wanted blood and he's desperate. He's a wild, savage vampire. But not to Faith. Deep down inside is the real Sakume somewhere. He does not deserve to be treated like this. This is his mansion. He's a man not a vampire.

"It's not right to treat you this way."

He just hissed and thrashed about.

"You need blood to survive, don't you?" she said. She pulled her dress slightly off her shoulder, revealing her neck. "You want my blood, don't you?"

She took out a key and went to the wall to unchain his hands. Once free, he ran at her and pounced on her. He fell on top of her and hissed and bit her on the neck.

Faith didn't resist and just let the pain come. The only way for a vampire to survive to is suck blood, and she's going to offer her own blood. Her fingers grabbed the floor and she turned her head to the side and let the tears drip down her eyes. Sakume drank thirstily, caring about his own thirst.

This is Faith's ultimate sacrifice to save her loved one. There's no other way she could think of to help him other than to do this. He kept on drinking and sucking the blood out of her neck. Her vision became blurry and the pain became worse and worse.

Eventually, she fell unconscious. Sakume finished his feast and turned back to normal. "What happened? Faith?" He saw blood coming out of her neck and he realized that it was him who did it. "Oh no, what have I done?! What have I done?"

Sakume quickly got up, still in disbelief. Nothing could describe the guilt he felt at this moment. He bit the neck of the woman he loves. He did it all by himself. He couldn't handle the guilt and ran away. It was raining hard outside. He ran out of the mansion and never looked back.

Faith suddenly woke up and found herself in bed. There were bandages on her neck. "Sakume…" She touched her neck and felt the bandages.

Merla came in. "Oh, you're awake, Ms. Lin."

"Where is Sakume?" she asked.

"Well…"

"Where is he?"

"He left." Merla said. "He ran away. No one knows where he is. I'm sorry."

Faith went over to the window. "Sakume…"

Merla touched her on the shoulder. "Right now he does not want to be found. Master Sakume is having trouble with himself and he does not want us involved."

"What he needs is our support."

"I've known him for a long time, and when he does not want to disturbed, we cannot disturb him."

"I am going to look for him." Faith announced.

"Alone?"

"Yes. I will do whatever it takes to find him." She left the room.

Merla was by herself. "He's lucky to have someone like you care for him…" she said to nobody.

So Faith was determined to find him. How will she find him? First off, she went to the places where he frequently goes to. Kyone's Bar was the first stop. "Have you seen Sakume?"

"No I haven't. I'm sorry, my dear." said Kyone.

"Alright, sorry to bother you." She walked away, disappointed.

Kyone stared at her as she walked away. He figured that is Sakume's girlfriend. Not bad, he thought. Sakume is a lucky guy.

The very next place she looked was in the police station. But he was not there. Faith left the police station, feeling even more disappointed. Now she has no idea where to go? What should she do now? Look around the town randomly? That's exactly what she did, acting on her emotions.

Urakami went to Merla. "Have you seen Ms. Faith?"

"Yes, she went to kook for Master Sakume." Merla replied.

"What? You let her leave?"

"It is apparent that she loves him very much."

"Merla, do you realize that Dracula is still on the loose?"

"Dracula?" she said, startled.

"Sakume's turning into a vampire, and this is proof that Dracula is still alive. So now we technically have two vampires on the loose! And now Ms. Faith is missing too. Oh what a day…"

Faith searched for Sakume all day and found nothing. Not a single clue. (Oh Sakume, where are you? Why did you leave my side?) she thought. She was in a dark alley and walking slowly. She's been looking non-stop and was tired.

Suddenly, Dracula dropped in and appeared in front of her, causing her to gasp. He jabbed her in the stomach, which knocked the wind out of her. She was weak in the knees and Dracula let her fell into his arms. He carried her and jumped away. Whoosh.

Shikura went around the town by himself, avoiding all human contact. He was ashamed to be in his state. Right now, he's neither human nor vampire. He doesn't even know what the hell he is. Maybe a hybrid. One thing is for sure, he still desires blood. It's an evil desire, and he wanted to shed himself of it. But it will not go away. Shikura grabbed his head in pain and screamed.

His sheer will is one thing keeping him human and under control. But will he be able to resist his thirst for blood?

Some drunk guy was passing by. "Hey youse, whas the matta?" he said stupidly. "Aw, is life getting' ya down? It happenz to me all the times. You might as well enjoy you life."

Shikura was wondering why is this guy talking to him? He just wants to be left alone. Who would go to this dark alley at this time of night anyway? They're all alone…and that means if he bites him, no one will know. Shikura shook away the thought.

"You gotta do what youse want without carin' about what otha people think, ya know?" said the drunk.

Shikura walked towards him and touched his shoulder. He is really, really thirsty for blood. His heart was pumping and his eyes were dilated. But his desire to stay human was fighting him.

"Hey, whacha doing?"

Schleb! Shikura took the bite, and the guy screamed like hell. He pushed him off and ran. Shikura beat him until he can't get up, and bit him on the neck.

After the feeding, Shikura returned to normal. His lust for blood was gone. But he realized that he took another victim. "No…no…!" He ran away in shame.

One person did see what happened. He happened to be Ritoshi.

Blood dripped on the ground. Shikura wiped his mouthful of blood. It left a nasty taste in his mouth. He still can't believe he did such a thing.

"Sakume."

Shikura was startled. "Who's there?"

"It's me, Ritoshi."

"S-Stay away…just stay away." Shikura shrieked, walking back.

"What is the matter with you? Explain."

"Just stay away, please!" Suddenly, his vampire side took over and his teeth became fangs and he hissed. "Hrrrrr!" His transformation took a few short seconds.

Ritoshi was surprised. Few things surprised this swordsman, and this really caught him off guard. Shikura leaped at him and grabbed his shoulders. Thud! Ritoshi hit Shikura's stomach with the back of his sword. The pain was enough to knock him out.
