Chapter 19 - Dracula vs. Sakume

Dracula walked along the streets but he rarely went out so he was completely lost. He just grabbed a random person. "Excuse me, do you know where the police station is?"

The man was startled by Dracula's appearance. He was pale and dressed strangely, in a tuxedo and a black cape. "It's over there, two blocks down."

"Thank you." Dracula went on his way.

Once he reached the police station, he went straight to the service desk.

"Can I help you, sir?" the cop said.

"Yes, I am looking for Mr. Sakume."

"Detective Sakume? Who's looking for him?"

"I am a friend of his. This is an urgent matter."

"Okay sir, hold on." He turned to the side. "Hey Sparks, get Sakume for me, will ya?"

"Right away." said Officer Sparks.

Screams of agony and sounds of struggle were heard from the interrogation room. The police walked by and ignore it.

The cowboys were beaten up pretty badly, with bruises shown all over their faces.

"Okay, we'll talk!!" said Joe.

"Where's your boss?" Sakume asked fiercely.

"He's in the altar in Ryojin cemetery! That's all I know."

"He's been hiding in the altar at Ryojin, it's in the middle of the cemetery. He hired us to do the dirty work for him."

"No, not hired. He forced us to do it."

Sakume said, "Force you? You should've come to the police, we would have helped you. But since you helped this sicko, you are now criminals. You guys better had good lawyers, because I am going to make sure you get the maximum punishment for your bullshit! If any harm comes to Faith, I will make sure you get the death sentence."

Both cowboys squirmed and shrieked. "Dude, we're totally sorry! We didn't know she is your girlfriend. If we knew, we would never have done it."

Sakume banged his fist on the table. "Does that make a difference? How many girlfriends and boyfriends have you taken away from other people? How many sons and daughters? Husbands and wives? Mothers and fathers? Who is the guy you are working for? Tell me now?"

"If we tell you, he'll surely kill us." said Dorlan.

"If you don't tell me, I will surely kill you...slowly."

"It's this vampire dude named Dracula."

"Vampire? More of this vampire non-sense?"

"Dude, it's totally true. We're not bullshitting you. We watched this guy literally suck the blood out of his victims."

Sakume was shocked, and many thoughts ran through his mind. "Suck the blood out of his victims?" (No way, this vampire does exist? That means my theory was wrong? That means...Faith!! Did he suck her blood too?) he thought. Suddenly, he ran out of the room.

In the hallways, Dracula was walking rudely, pushing people away. One guy stood in front of him. "Sir, you are not allowed to come here!"

Dracula found the guy's voice and face annoying so he smacked him away. Smack.

Suddenly, the vampire and Sakume saw each other and they did the stare. It was obvious by Dracula's appearance as to who he was. But even if he was not dressed as a vampire, his pale face and bloodshot eyes were a dead giveaway. Likewise, Dracula can sense that Sakume was different than all other officers.

The vampire smiled wickedly. "Detective Sakume, I presume?"

Sakume's eyes grew wider. "Could you be…Dracula?"

"Yes, it is I, Dracula, the king of vampires! I have come for you."

Sakume drew his sword and charged forward. Doooosh. Dracula waited for him to come and dodged the blade. Whoosh. Sakume slashed left and right while Dracula dodged swiftly. Whoosh. Whoosh.

A silhouetted figure crashed through the window and landed on the roof. Right after that, another silhouetted figure jumped out the same window and landed on the roof.

Ritoshi was observing Sakume from afar and he just noticed the two figures on the roof.

"So, you are the mighty Detective Sakume. I have heard a lot about you from my comrades. They said you got in their way of providing me blood."

"You really are...a vampire?" asked a skeptical Sakume.

"Not just any vampire, the king of vampires."

"You are the one who Mr. Tatekawa and Ms. Murai, and kidnapped countless others?"

"Oh yes. Their blood was delicious, I savored every drop of it."

Sakume got into his stance. "You son of a bitch. Die!" Slash!

Dracula jumped, somersaulted, and landed behind him. Sakume turned around and slashed some more, Dracula dodged swiftly. "Detective, I did not come here to fight you today. Rather, I have a proposal for you."

"What proposal?"

"Why not cooperate with me? It will make life much easier for you. You stay out of my affairs, and I shall not interfere with yours. In return for your silence, I promise not to harm your family members."

"No deal, fucker!" Slash!

"Tsk tsk, hasty aren't we?"

"Shut up!" Slash, swipe.

Dracula charged and scratched him.

"Ugh!"

Dracula kicked him. Wham.

Sakume landed in a crouch. They fought some more. "Alright, bloodsucker, where is Ms. Faith?"

"Ms. Faith?" Dracula said. He suddenly thought of the woman he had been draining the blood of every night. "So, you are referring to that woman, eh? So she is your woman."

"Return her to me now, bastard!"

"Hmph. You'll have to beat me first."

"That can be arranged." Sakume charged recklessly.

Ritoshi watched the fight. "Wow, the vampire is pretty strong. Even an expert swordsman like Sakume is having trouble. This is much more troublesome than I thought."

Slash! Dracula scratched Sakume's chest.

"Ugh..."

Slash. Sakume fell on one knee.

Dracula said, "Hmmph, you are clearly not a match for me, mortal. Just give it up." He jumped away.

"You son of a bitch." Sakume said with his hand on his wound.

Shikura was in charge of the operation. He was the leader of a group of policemen. "Alright men, we will go to the Ryojin Cemetary and find that vampire! Let's move!"

"Yes sir." The officers left the building.

Hirata touched Shikura on the shoulder. "So, now do you believe in vampires?"

"Yeah, after being scratched by one."

"You should not work so hard tonight, you are injured after all."

"No I'm fine. It's just a minor scratch."

"Detective, if you get scratched by a vampire, you will become one too."

"Oh please." Shikura said, picking up his jacket. "That's just a myth."
