Chereads / The Woman In Me / Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Nathaniel went home and everyday after they spoke. About two weeks later he decided he would change his phone number for a clean start so he did. But shockingly he had his first slip up not long after. Nathaniel was texting a fling from the past after he changed his number. This was a lie he got caught in. Sarah immediately got upset, because what other lies was he telling, was all she could think about. It did hurt her, it bothered her because up to this very moment she has been honest with him. This she never expected. Though she managed to let it slide and moved on but every now and then it would pop up on her mind.

Not long after the new phase of her life started. Though they spoke every day, for some reason that wasn't enough, she was now faced with constant accusations of cheating and lying. These were merely accusations, as she wasn't doing such. Sarah wasn't a Saint, but she always gave people her best until they didn't deserve it anymore. She always tried to give what she wanted in return but instead she gave got nothing but pain to show for it. Nathaniel would profess his love for her, but as she always said;

"How can you love me, when you speak ill to and of me?"

She endured it as the days goes by. He took care of her, financially but what she wanted was more of mental and emotional support. She knew, or she thought deeply that he did love her, but he questioned her love and loyalty. She was mostly home, he knows that, he knew she loved him but he had his own issues, she knew nothing about. As the days and weeks went by, it got worse, the minute she leaves the house, there was an argument, even if she was home, the minute he called and she didn't pick up, there was an accusation. It was always in his head she had another man laying with. That was never the case, as she had made a promise. He became paranoid, it wasn't just jealousy, he would now create scenarios in his head and throw them at her, he would now use her past against her. This was alot more than she bargained for.

After a month of him leaving, she decided to start a business, something to occupy her days and to earn her own money. Even at that time, the accusation was, that a man actually gave her the money to start such business.

"The audacity." she thought to her self.

Sarah is very ambitious, her priorities may not always be right before but she is trying to change her life, trying to have a fresh start. She had money could definitely start her business herself. She didn't believe in being dependent on anyone, which lead to why she did go around asking people for anything, not even who she dated. She preferred to try until she ran out of options, then and only then she would seek help. As I said, she was a rare gem, with a beautiful soul. Never underestimate her strength, her self motivation, her drive for better. She may not do what you said immediately but best be certain she will get it done and she will be amazing once its done.

Nathaniel, when upset, says aloy of hurtful things to her. Many may ask, why not just change your number and ne done with it, since the two was so far apart. It wasn't so easy, she loved him, she couldn't leave so easily. Sarah made alot of hurtful things slide as she asked gently;

"Please, do not accuse me, as I am not being disloyal, do not be rude and say hurtful things, my feelings are alot more vulnerable because I love you."

Though her words may have been taken lightly, it was very serious. She was really hurting. She remained calm through the beginning. Every week he would send her money, so financially she was taken care of.

"Is this the price I have to pay for everything you do for me?" she asked.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"You take care of me financially but I suffer mentally and emotionally." she replied.

"I love you and care for you Sarah." he replied.

He was big on conversations, Infact he was terrible. He had a very low reasoning ability, he lacked in communicating, and understanding. Which she figured would probably change after a while. Maybe he'd adjust. But the more he got upset the worse the relationship got. He got more and more paranoid, he didn't want her to work, she barely wanted her to leave home. The accusations never stopped, they just got more and more. Still Sarah remained loyal. Kept him satisfied. The distance didn't bother her at all. Though she missed him very much. But sometimes she wasn't sure what exactly she missed because him back then isn't the same as now.

Something changed when he went home and even though he wanted her to believe that she's the problem, she knew better. she was trying to be loved and love in return, she was ready to settle down, have a life with one person but maybe she decided to do so with the wrong man. He wasn't the worse, but it was bad. He had a good job, he was doing alright for himself, but she wasn't intimidated at all. She lived to better her life not envy those who did better than her. She would cheer for you, and pray about her own upcoming as she believes God's time was the best time.
