The four sat at a dinner table and talked while the food was served.
"Shu, your prowess and strength impress me. How big is your potential, and how much have you unlocked?"
Dam asked. He expected it to be at least two hundred. Shu's strength is so incredible anything lower would be a disservice to people with a potential of two hundred or higher.
"Zero."
Shu answered, and something about him seemed off. His tail wasn't moving, and his ears were down like a sad dog.
"Impossible. I have a potential of three hundred and am not confident I could win against you. Plus, how are you still alive if you have zero potential."
Hannah interjected because of her confusion.
Shu's answer seemed like an exaggeration, but having low potential would explain why Shu thinks he is weak, so that's how Thomas decided to interpret him.
"How do you intend to win with such low potential?"
Thomas asked.
"I was given fifteen years to live by Mister Danniel, and I'm supposed to pay them back to him. I have to win no matter what."
Shu answered.
The rest of the meal was done in silence. No one knew what to say. Shu's situation seemed severe, and they had no idea what to say.
After they finished the meal, they went to the rooms Dams' servants showed them.
********
{Hey, Shu! In a few moments, something bad will happen. I don't want to break the rules more than I do, so you got to make your own decision. Choose your reaction wisely- run or fight.}
The familiar voice of Danniel echoed in Shu's head.
'What the hell. I need to warn everyone!'
Shu thought to himself.
He rushed out of his room. And began heading to the others' rooms to warn them.
BOOM!
A large explosion was heard, and the others woke up before he could warn them.
"What is going on?!"
Thomas asked in distress.
"I don't know. Benjamin, what is going on?"
Dam asked one of his servants.
"There seems to be an attack on the city. It looks like there's only one person there. He is using an ability that resembles a gift. But it's an unknown one."
Benjamin answered.
They all ran outside to take a look at what was happening.
There was a man casually strolling through the street.
Bombs appeared around him and exploded as he walked, and he was not affected by any of them.
'Danniel told me I have to choose.
Fight or Flight.
A question as old as time.
Normally. I wouldn't try to answer this question, But now, I got to win and get noticed!'
Shu thought to himself, and with a determined look, he ran in the attacker's direction.
This was a young man with black hair and blue eyes. He wore a set of unmaintained cleric clothes.
"Hey, you! Who do you think you are, attacking all these people?"
Shu asked in anger.
The man, who only then noticed him, looked back at Shu with a smug expression.
"I am Alexander of the Dreamer god's realm and the new god of the Godless realm. Who are you, little fox?"
The man answered.
"Little fox, huh? You will regret these words."
Shu chuckled.
"You call yourself a god, but you are just like everyone else."
Shu kept talking while walking closer to the man.
"a mortal who uses power to claim the lives of others!"
Shu sent a punch in his opponent's direction.
"I was sent here to stop you, so it's nothing personal."
Shu smirked as he felt the punch connecting with his target.
"Hehe, you don't know who you're talking to!"
Alexander shouted, and his eyes flickered with a blue glow.
He created a force shield around his body and blocked Shu's attack. After that, he formed a sword in his hand and tried stabbing Shu.
Shu evaded the attack, grabbed the hand holding the sword, and hit it with a knee kick, but Alexander created some kind of magical barrier to protect it.
In an instant, Alexander created a sword in the other hand and swiped it at Shu, but he evaded it and did a backflip to create space between them.
********
Thomas, Hannah, and Dam were still at the mansion, looking at what was happening.
"I hope you two find somewhere good to hide. I need to save my city."
Dam said, and he started running towards the fight while summoning the sword of chaos in his hand.
"We should go help him too."
Hannah said.
"Yea, you're right."
Thomas answered, and they both started running toward the fight.
********
Alexander created six copies of himself, each clone with two extra pairs of hands and holding a sword in each hand.
Shu was trying to fight them though he knew his combat style did not fit fighting and defending against this many people from a close distance.
He evaded each attack perfectly, though he couldn't lend a lot of hits. Using an ability he had since the day he was born, he could see all of their attacks before they reached him.
He doesn't know why but when he is in danger, he can see a few seconds into the future.
"How do you keep avoiding my attacks? What are you a gifted or something?"
All of Alexanders' copies asked at the same time.
"I don't know, how does it feel to be gifted?"
Shu asked in return.
"It's different based on your gift."
Alexander answered.
Then, a third person joined the fight and immediately started fighting two copies.
"Dam!"
Shu exclaimed happily.
A guy and a girl joined right after that. They each fought two copies. These two were Thomas and Hannah.
Now, all that Shu had to do was defeat the original Alexander.
He ran toward Alexander while doing a tornado kick (540) and hit him in the face. There was still a barrier, but because of how much Alexander was busy creating weapons, bombs, and healing his clones, the force shield had gotten weaker, and Shu hit him with a perfect kick.
Alexander lost his sense of balance and was about to pass out because of the concussion his brain received from that kick.
"Who are you."
Alexander asked while staggering.
"I am a mortal. The zero potential, Shual Adom of the Demon god's realm. And I won't allow anyone to kill."
Shu answered, emphasizing the "mortal" and "zero potential" parts.
"Zero potential, ah. Then I truly am not a god..."
Alexander mumbled as he passed out.
His voice had a tone of disappointment in it, but he passed out before Shu could ask him about it.
********
A day passed, and the damage to the city was assessed.
"The city received major damage, but luckily not many people died. Thank you for the help. My father wanted to thank you personally, but considering the situation, it's obvious why he couldn't..."
Dam said as he slightly bowed.
''There's no need for you to bow. You helped us a lot and...''
Thomas was saying, but then Shu interjected.
"Hey, do you wanna join us?"
Shu said. And everyone else was happy to see that he had seemingly returned to his usual self.
"Shu, I'm happy to see you are cheerful again, but what did I tell you about asking people who are going through a crisis to join us."
Thomas said. He reminded Shu of what happened with Hannah, killing intent radiating from him.
"I don't know what you are talking about."
Shu acted as if he knew nothing.
"You little..."
Thomas started cursing Shu when...
"I would be happy to."
Dam said, and they shook hands.
The four of them went on board the ship Dam promised them.
It was a large ship that could fit about twenty people with baggage.
The ship had a crew to assist them with sailing it since they were, more or less, novices in the matter.
They started their journey to the new lands.
