Never had a short time felt like infinity. As he felt his consciousness ebbing away and muscles screaming in agitation, he looked across the battlefield and locked eyes with Tabibah.
Exhaustion pooled round those purple orbs, he could see it. She had just released a dangerous spell and looked like a living corpse. Her legs shook as she took a step, and she fell, landing on Elba, the wolf he gifted her, wearily.
"Go home, I'll take care of the scattered army. " he told her.
Her face went hard with a frown. "I am not weak, don't forget I am a good swordsman, even in my weaken state… I can still help you. "
He was expecting that answer. She was always so adamant and difficult to talk to.
"But, you need to prepare for our wedding... "
Her eyes widened instantly. The wedding had been postponed for many years now because of the frequent wars they had to fight.
He nodded his head at her skeptical look and smiled. "Go back and plan for the wedding, Immediately I come back, I want to meet you on the altar where we will seal our bond."
"You are not saying this to send me off, right? "The look in her eyes was fiery, like she could pounce on him if he answered wrongly.
He laughed. His laughter was like music to her ears. Maybe because he barely laughed, or cause his laughter lightened her heart in all the rare times it happened.
"I can't bear to stand it when Mother talks about coats and flower arrangements. " he explained, making her roll her eyes. "Save me… Wife. "
"Fine!! " She groaned, pulling Elba's rein making him stand up. "Since you asked so cutely. " She pointed her index finger at him, the long claws she called nails dark coats glistened in the sun.
"Come back alive. " She yelled. He knew she was on her way to call back her warriors. She was an excellent general, he had to admit. They were on par with each other, and it made him proud she was his.
Tabibah stood on the altar covered in silk and feathers, her ancestral wedding dress. To prove that the two tribes were really going to unite, they had put their all into the wedding plans.
Even Chennai, the great dragon whose whereabouts were usually unknown, showed up.
The black dress was heavy, but Tabibah wore it like it was made of cotton. Sao would reach the tribe today. He was to come straight to the altar-- that was their agreement.
Loud gasped attracted her attention and she turned around. There stood Sao in all his glory. Her face brightened, and she wore a smile, which froze when she saw the petite blonde girl that stood next to him. Dainty and delicate with bambi eyes. The look in his eyes told her all she needed to know.
Slap!!!!
"Sao, you beast, what have you done? " his mother yelled. "Do you know how much Tabibah have sacrificed for you? ". Her voice booming and echoing, bouncing on the walls, ( perks of being a Luna).
Tabibah watched Sao in silence. The anger she felt seemed to halt her ability to talk. She wanted to growl at him, wanted to yell, beat him up, ask him why he went back on their bond of three hundred years... Just for an elementalist he met for two months.
"I love Mia. " Sao stated, his tone unyielding."I apologize to Tabibah and I will do everything in my power to make it up to her,but this wedding can't hold."
Love? Tabibah waited so many years to hear those word from him but here he was spewing it randomly like it was some cheap thing.
Sao knelt down, shocking everybody in the room. This was the first time Sao knelt down for anybody since he was born.
"Forgive me Tabibah… But I've marked Mia already. I can't have two mates."
The whole room turned to the neck of the blondie where a wolf tattoo proudly laid on. Tabibah's entire body trembled in anger and her second in command, Caasi , had to steady her.
She laughed loudly, a menacing laugh that ended in tears. "Wow Sao, just Wow!! Congratulations on your success!! Do You really think I am a person you can use and dump casually? You will pay for this with your blood!!"
Elementalists and witches were always enemies. The former could control elements while the latter had to use spells and instruments to control nature, their patrons, Cerci-- the goddess of sorcery and Marlac-- God of elements hated each other guts before they passed away at the Battle Between Mephistopheles and the gods.
"Leader," Caasi said lowly while bowing down. Tabibah stopped preparing the potion she was making and glanced at him.
"The wolves killed twenty of our tribe's members," he said in grief.
The bowl in Tabibah's hand fell, and the candles lighted around her flickered wildly. Her heart felt like somebody stomped on it. All she did was demand a battle with Mia which she won effortlessly. Why were they bringing tribes members into this?.
Caasi shivered as the room turned colder. He had a sneaking suspicion that the leader was practising forbidden arts lately.
He raised his head up and could see her fearsome stare. This news really affected the whole tribe. Witches were powerful but found it hard to give birth as they had to mate with people as powerful or just slightly lower than them. Their lost members meant a very obvious decrease in their population.
A cold sneer formed on her face. "They want war." her powers danced madly in the room crying for blood to spill and Caasi's expression turned grimmer. He felt scared for their future-- he knew how terrifying Tabibah can be when one of her own is hurt.
"Daughter of Wrath will give them what they craved for!! "
In the destructive war that seemed to obliterate the heaven and earth. The felines were their only ally, as every other race flocked to support the wolves.
