Chapter 45 - Increasing Worries

" Alright, could I go now? " I have to go home early before class ends, or this will turn into a zombie apocalypse or a useless main character murim story.

Sol nods and he walks in the opposite direction, heading to the training ground, ready to practice his ability more.

He couldn't care less about what this news could do, huh? Well, when you are as strong as this guy, it's just normal behavior really.

I'm going to have to continue looking for Yelan's whereabouts anyway, so I'm going to have to hurry home if I want this finished as soon as I can. There'll be a lot of things I'll have to worry about soon, and I don't have a definite schedule that I can follow. Things might turn for the worst suddenly, and worst case scenario, I'm not prepared at all.

Besides, this is going to be quite an annoying week. I'm sure the government debriefed the school higher-ups about the demon's ability to hide within human society. I'm sure they will increase security and even we will be prevented from going off campus. The students will probably be under extreme surveillance, and I'm sure Sol and I will be of higher priority. If I still have things to do outside, I'm going to have to do them right now, or they'll be until Kon gets out of this school, or until I become strong enough.

" Alright, goodbye, mister hero. Thanks for saving my life. "

But then, Instant Karma just appears and hits my face like a bastard. The school bells started ringing indicating the end of class.

...

" Yo Sol, I need to talk to you about something." I looked back at the annoyed Sol as he stood still behind me.

" I'm busy being a hero. Stop talking to me." He says bluntly as he begins walking toward the arena.

" It's about the demons." I looked at him seriously.

" What? " It seemed like that caught his attention, as he looked at me with confusion.

" It's important. Follow me."

" Just say it here." His seriousness started to fade, as annoyance started to cover his face instead.

" I can't " I reply with the same serious face, showing my conviction in telling this information. Hopefully, this will show how important it actually is.

...

"All right, so what now?"Sol asks me as we walk through the crowded area, filled with stares and gossiping people. They looked at us as if we were some kind of alien or celebrity taking a stroll outside.

Well, it was still pretty good, as Sol demonstrates that bringing him with me was well worth it.In my early days as an actor, I ultimately figured out a way to disseminate and lessen the attention on me properly.

If I had gone out here myself, not only would the attention on me grow, I'm sure the ones who didn't want to bother me would change their mind due to the release of this news.

The only way to remove their attention is by giving them another person to give their attention to. Someone more famous and the protagonist of this story. Basically, a scapegoat for my own convenience, which Sol fits the description properly. So that's why I tricked him into coming here.

Instead of focusing on me, they'd only recognize my existence for about a few seconds before focusing on the star who was the hero in the news.

The hope that came with the demons, Sol Cense!

Anyway, he came with me mostly because I pretended I had something to say about him, so I needed to make up a plausible excuse.

" I think there's a hidden demon spy within Tree." I tell him ambiguously, so that he'll have an idea, yet he won't leak this information to Kon. Being careful, yet unsuspicious was the best way to go about it when facing the 7* demon spy.

" Wha-?" Sol seemed surprised by my sudden statement as he flinched and looked at me in worry.

" Shut up," I say casually, to not raise suspicions. I mean, you can't be safe enough.

" You realize how Toons was able to hide his horns from us, right? He also has a human identity with him.

"So? Isn't that common knowledge now? You know they release demonic energy unconsciously, right? " He says with a deadpan voice as his interest and worry fade.

Well, not necessarily. There are a few demons who could suppress the release of their demonic energy, such as the 7 Archdemons, and also if you have a device to hide it, such as our homeroom teacher, Kon.

" Do you think everyone's like him? He specifically said master, and he had the cognitive abilities to speak like us, pretend to be us, fight like us, and plan to kidnap you because he could follow orders. Do you really think monsters like those, lack the ability to hide their demonic energy through the use of an item? " I whisper as my face smiles here and there to hide the contents of my statements better.

" So, your proof is speculation and gues- "

!

Well, it seems like this world trusts me more than you trust me, as my words get cemented by the heavy and sinister killing intent that covered our bodies. It was only for a few seconds, but it was enough to make me sweat as the pressure was a lot heavier when I faced the Shrieker head-to-head. It felt like I was looking at a dragon ready to devour me with ease.

" What?! " Sol exclaims as he shifts his attention around, looking for the culprit. He looked at me, but he realized I also had quite a nasty expression on my face.

" Stop... " I struggle to let out the complete word after facing such killing intent full of malice.

" There's no way you'll find them with this crowd. You're just wasting your time. "

It seemed like Sol realized that as well as he calmed down, but his expression was alert and worried as he looked around him, wondering if my suspicions were actually correct.

That was fucking insane. Who would throw such heavy killing intent toward us with this crowd? He could pinpoint us with only that, and he was bold and angry enough to do it right here right now.

Was it Krean? Gavin? They might be angry towards me, but there's only one guy that could be mad at us that much and throw that much killing intent without getting noticed by the others.

Kon...
