Chapter 46 - Bleak Future

Why is he doing this in the middle of the crowd? Fuck, it was directed at us, so no other students felt it, but he's that bold when the situation is this fresh?

Were they that desperate? If he could do this in public, I'm afraid being alone wouldn't be as safe anymore.

Darn, It seems I've underestimated them. I thought they wouldn't have the courage to act with such high levels of security, but it seems we've had a stronger impact than I thought we did.

I don't even know if I should be happy or worried about how things are currently going. These unprecedented actions are making me wonder if even the ever-monstrous Sol will be able to handle the consequences that will transpire soon...

With that being said, his expression turned for the worst as my statement turned from impossible to possible.

" Relax, don't say a word here. Whoever that was was clearly stronger than both of us combined. " I look straight ahead, leaving subtle hints for him in my statements. I gasped for air as Sol's face turned grim.

I regained my composure quickly so that the others wouldn't notice, but Kon at the same time would. Pretending as if nothing happened would be too suspicious, but at the same time, let's not say anything that would lead to him finding out that we have our suspicions about Demons having a spy within the academy.

I don't know if this was just a one-time thing to release his anger toward us or if it's a threat to watch our backs. I'll know soon enough as we'll have classes after lunch and we'll see him there.

I had some regrets about not claiming more credit for the demon subjugation, but I'm quite thankful now. It seems like my predictions were ultimately correct, it was just a little too extreme. Depending on what I see in this meeting, I'm going to have to report it to Jean and the other higher-ups if I want to protect Sol from Kon's wrath.

...

Lunch ended, and it was finally time to see how things would go from now on. If he appeared relaxed and unconcerned, I could proceed; otherwise, this would be out of my hands.

Why is it that every time I'm in front of this door, there's something I always have to worry about?

Anyways, I could hear the conversation of the others inside, so I opened the door immediately, fearing that Kon and I would be left out there.

I stepped inside the room, and Kon wasn't there yet. Though I got a little scared, as I thought I got faked by another speaker playing conversation noises as the room turned quiet the moment I entered. But it seemed like everyone just stared at me awkwardly.

... Hi?

Did they see the news? Were they like, pitying me or something?

I could see Sol in the middle of the crowd as he got surrounded by the others. So they're probably looking at me because of that matter.

Anyway, I sat on my chair next to Charlotte, who was sleeping on her desk. The others had their attention on Sol, so it was relatively peaceful. He's incredibly popular like always, probably thanks to Leon if you look at it. No one at first wanted to talk to him due to the scary aura he was emitting, but when Leon started a conversation, the others also joined in.

" You okay? " Someone suddenly asks me, which threw me off as it came from the person I least expected it to.

Luna?

" Uh, yeah." I say awkwardly to the incredibly pretty girl in front of me.

" Oh ok, that's good then," she says calmly, and ends the conversation.

...So this is how she goes about it. That's straight out of a romance novel. Well, what do you expect from the most famous Tree student.

The cool and beautiful Luna would turn into that monster. Who would've thought of that...

Thud

The door opens and the one and only Kon steps into the room.

...

It's quite nerve-wracking, though he looks calm and normal. The surroundings felt heavy, like we were under some heavy pressure even though there was actually nothing.

" Alright class, let's start theoretical classes. You guys will have Sir Frang for Energy Theories in your first class. The others will introduce themselves," he says with the same tone he normally uses.

" But first of all, I would like to say something to a few students in our class. " he says calmly, yet my nervousness started to rise, and sweat started dripping on my forehead, waiting for his remarks.

" Sol Cense, I would like to commend you on your bravery in hunting this Royal class beast by yourself. I commend your camaraderie for helping a fellow classmate in need, and last but not least, I commend your intellect and wisdom that let you figure out the reality of the situation. " He says calmly." It almost felt like he was really commending him and happy for him, but I could see some small signs that he was angry. It was relatively easy for me to read body language as I was an actor in the real world. I had to learn and analyze them so that I could replicate and use the perfect body language for the perfect scenario. With that being said, I could easily see what the other party is feeling as long as I pay attention.

The students started clapping as smiles formed on their lips. They look at the ever-reliable and strong number one of the class, who will ultimately lead the new generation. Leaving a good impression on these types of people was the greatest thing one could have in life.

" I would also like to apologize to the class I was teaching earlier. I'll make sure you learn properly. " He says nonchalantly, but it was obviously a threat. Sol was in his class and it seems like he plans on dealing with him through the excuse of training.

" And also, before I forget. Mon Weise, you are a disgrace to this class."

The clapping and murmuring of the others suddenly vanished with the release of those words. The room turned quiet the moment Kon said it bluntly.

...

" You think, just because you are S-class, you can ride freely on their backs? You are a disgrace to us and you even let your uselessness spread throughout the media." He looked at me with a deadpan stare, but he was clearly looking down on me, treating me as if I was some worm he could just release his stress on.

" Do you think your classmates like you? You don't deserve to be in their sight or even in their presence. "

As he said so, I could feel the sharp gaze of the others pierce through me as they seemed to be convinced by Kon's remark.

He was raising their egos and their status, all while lowering mine. He was creating a scenario where I would be outcast more and get treated like dirt. This was his revenge on me, I guess.

" I'll work hard, Mr. Kon " I said calmly, which seemed to annoy him. He probably expected a heavier response from me. There's also the fact that, his gaslighting didn't really affect the whole class. Winter clicked her tongue the moment Kon said that, while Sol didn't even bother to look.

" Working hard doesn't make miracles, student Sol. Those who are born with one leg can't get another." He said mockingly, as he seemed annoyed by my nonchalant behaviour.

I diverted my gaze to my desk without saying anything else, as confronting him here would just result in an even more severe consequence. He pissed me off, but it's not like I could do something about it. The teachers here are allowed to say this and that. Ms. Loi, from earlier, even threatened us, so this was normal behaviour and reporting it would just cause an even deeper conflict.

" Anyways, now that that's said, the school plans on having a trip next month to Jernea's camp. This trip is still in the works, but I'm giving you guys a heads-up. "

Jernea... The massacre that would kill an incredible number of students in Tree was just around the corner, it seems.
