The duke remained seated across Cataleya, staring at her intently. There was hesitation in his eyes and at the same time, anguish that came from out of nowhere.
Cataleya was startled when the duke stood up from his seat and went towards her. She gasped at the pain when he grabbed her right hand and turned it up for him to see. She saw his eyes were searching for something before he let go of her hand, a little dejected and pale at the same time.
Without a word, the duke walked away from there in a fast pace, leaving her alone.
Cataleya ushered him with her eyes until he disappeared from her view. She looked down on her right hand, a little confused what was he searching there that made him look more than disappointed over something.
