Chereads / Opal the White wolf. / Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

The weekend and full moon approached quite quickly. For the rest of the week nobody was pestering her at school, so Opal for the first time since long ago felt a real joy. She loved the full moon. Naked, she stepped out of her door and shifted. Taking her wolf form was a great experience for her. She loved the sensation of wind blowing lightly through her fur. She didn't feel the cold and as her wolf's fur was white she became almost invisible in winter and a ghost during remaining seasons.

All the night sensations hit her nose in an instance. She smelled the little hare and some rodents, she heard scratching sounds, rustle behind the bush and even whirs made by twigs and branches. Opal preferred the smell of wood in the spring or summer but it was fine today too. She slowly approached the line of the forest before starting to run. She knew every single stone, bush and tree here. For the past ten years she has been running along these woods. She slowly felt the sensation building inside her chest, she speeded up. Wind was howling in her ears and Opal felt free. Jumping through a half frozen creek and then past the clearing. Further into the woods. A little grayish hare sprang in front of her in a hopeful attempt to save its life. Opal went for it. She was fast and agile, the smell of scared hare spurred her on. Soon a squeak followed by a crunch of broken spine and a rush of adrenaline and smell of blood. The here tasted splendid and gave Opal the right amount of energy to run even further. She was close to the north border of the pack territory. In the north the pack grounds bordered with wild territory full of rogues or lonely wolves like herself.

She sometimes ventured these grounds for hunting, but only if it was absolutely necessary. Today she was just enjoying herself. Checking her grounds and sniffling the air she felt an unfamiliar smell. Something was off. She could sense it, her muscles became tense. The fur on her neck bristled. The low growl behind her didn't catch her off guard, she knew she had company. It was a rouge. Opal was too far to make it back to her house. It was either run or fight. The other wolf was bigger and had dark fur, she could clearly see his yellow eyes. The rouge bared his teeth and slowly approached her. The Omega decided to use her bargaining card – the pheromones.

Quite a large dosage could make even a rogue's mind hazy. She released her sweet floral pheromones. The rouge stopped, his eyes were wide opened and a strange growl rumbled through his chest and throat. Opal made her move, fuck she was quick. She was literally running for her life, still she could almost feel the others breath behind her back soon. Years of hunting taught her not to give in to panic. Her heart was beating fast but steady so was her breathing. She had to focus "Think Opal, think!" She was a good runner but her stamina wasn't endless. Soon her paws will become slower and then it's the end. She knew the ground, her only hope was a ditch she sensed was not far away. She went for it. Jumping over a fallen tree at full speed with a rogue in tow she made a sharp turn to the left only to hear the rogue falling into the deep ditch with a loud scowl. Opal stopped and came back to see what happened to the dark wolf.

He was in the deep hole all right, staring at her with his yellow eyes full of anger. She heard his growl again. The wolf was helplessly flouncing in the narrow bottom of the ditch. Opal turned around and ran back home. The night stroll was over. The sky was changing its color from deep dark blue to a lighter one, it was the dawn. Opal went inside her hut, she washed in cold water and got dressed. She wasn't sleepy, the rush of adrenaline made her fully awake. Sitting on the bed she was deeply thinking about what happened and what to do next. The rogue was on the pack's territory. The wolf could crawl out of the ditch. It was hard but possible, she made it once too. It took her three days but she was able to crawl out. So, she stood up, should she tell the others or not? She would have to go to the pack house and talk to the Alpha or some other high ranked warrior. What if they laugh her out? Tell her that she has no right to ask for favors? Well, technically she didn't need their help. The rogue could trace her back after her scent but she could prepare some traps to get rid of him for good. No, that was not good, what if some random pack member fell for it and died? All would put the blame on her. What to do?

She was flouncing around her house equally frustrated as the rogue back then in the ditch. After a while with a deep sigh she left the house. The way to the city was nerve wracking. Opal felt the anxiety growing stronger and making her chest tense. She hated the feeling of being dependent on someone. She reached the pack house quickly, well too quickly. Right now Opal was standing in front of the main entrance still unsure whether to go in or turn back.

"Why are you standing here Omega?" someone's voice brought her out of stupor.

Opal turned around only to face the pack's Beta Jakson. He would do too.

"Good morning Sir – she bowed slightly – yesterday at the north border about 10 kilometers from the city I encountered a rogue."

Beta frowned, "What do you mean by encounter?" He stressed the last word.

"The rogue was chasing me and fell into a ditch. I think he still might be there. I just wanted to inform you about it. Nothing more." Opal decided to make it clear she didn't expect any help or whatever. God she said it. Now she just turned around and walked back home. It was Sunday, she could go back to sleep. That's what she will do.

At home the fire was still on, she added some wood, undressed and in her underwear only slipped under the furry blanket. All the tension which gathered through the night and during the morning especially because of the talk in front of the pack house just left her. Opal fell asleep.

The loud knock put her on her feet. Someone was knocking on her door and that was an extremely rare occurrence. Opal sprung out of her bed and rushed to the door. She was in a deep shock and probably not fully awake, that is why she opened the door and after the shocked looks from a bunch of men standing in front of her house, she realized that she had forgotten to wear something more appropriate, than only her underwear. FUCK! Opal slammed the door back.

"Just a moment" she shouted, getting dressed frantically. Wondering what they wanted from her, probably it was about that rouge. He wasn't in the ditch anymore and they are going o scold her, or call her a fucking liar.
